- Raadpleeg “LCD-modus” in hoofdstuk 4.
Vriendelijke groet, Evi

  12. J.D. Power overhauls its Initial Quality Study for 2020, resulting in a shake-up that sees domestic brands having their best showing in years. Give it up for the local talent. J.D. Power has released its annual Initial Quality Study for 2020, and numerous domestic automakers have surged ahead this year. No less than half of the top 10 manufacturers are American, and one ties for the top spot overall. First, a note for anybody comparing 2019’s results to this: the vastly higher average number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) isn’t due to reduced reliability. “The higher problem levels we see in this year’s study don’t mean vehicle quality has worsened,” said Dave Sargent, VP of vehicle quality at J.D. Power, “rather, the redesigned study asks additional questions that allow owners to cite more of the problems that they are experiencing.” The IQ Study polls owners on various issues and problems they encounter in the first 90 days of new-car ownership. J.D. Power found infotainment to be the biggest hurdle across the board. Nearly 25 percent of all problems cited were due to things like smartphone connectivity, touchscreens, voice recognition, and navigation systems. With that out of the way, let’s get to those top makes, in ascending order. 10. Hyundai PP100: 153 SEE ALSO: 2020 Hyundai Sonata Review We start with the largest Korean automaker. As a parent company (including Kia and Genesis) Hyundai scored the most segment-level wins with seven individual model awards. H-branded models to top their segment include the sporty Veloster and the compact Tucson crossover. Loading … 09. Volkswagen PP100: 152 SEE ALSO: 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport First Drive Review The rebalanced 2020 IQS sees Volkswagen move from the bottom 10 to the top 10. The German brand didn’t score any outright segment wins, but the Jetta did slide onto the podium in the compact car class. Consider this a show of support for VW’s straight-forward infotainment systems. Loading … 08. GMC PP100: 151 SEE ALSO: 2020 GMC Acadia Denali Review General Motors’ truck-and-SUV brand slots into eighth place with a PP100 score of 151, or 15 higher than the industry average. The GMC Sierra is the brand’s best-performing model; it actually out-performed its platform-mate, the Chevrolet Silverado. Loading … 07. Buick PP100: 150 SEE ALSO: 2019 Buick Envision Review and First Drive With news that it’s cancelling its cars, Buick will join GMC as the other car-free General Motors brand. The near-luxury brand is now all crossovers, all the time. Buick will continue to focus on the high-riders this year, with the introduction of the slightly-larger Encore GX and a revised Envision on the way for 2021. Loading … 06. Mitsubishi PP100: 148 SEE ALSO: 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review Here’s a surprise: Mitsubishi is the lone Japanese brand in the top 10 this year. Just three brands from the country scored above the industry average: the other two were Nissan (161 PP100) and Lexus (159). Even more surprising: Mitsubishi ranked third-last in 2019! Chalk up this year’s result to the brand’s no-frills approach to motoring, with straight-forward infotainment and high ease of use. Loading … 05. Genesis PP100: 142 SEE ALSO: 2020 Genesis G70 Review The Korean brand held onto its title as the top luxury model in the IQS for 2020. That’s even more impressive when we consider Genesis has done that since it debuted in 2017. The real test will come in the next 12 months: the brand is debuting the new G80 and, more importantly, the GV80, its first SUV. Both will come with a reimagined infotainment system—how well customers take to it will determine the brand’s 2021 ranking. Loading … 03 (Tie). Ram SEE ALSO: 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Review PP100: 141 FCA scores two podium finishes this year, with its Ram truck division tying for third. The American manufacturer completely re-did the 1500 for the 2019 model year, introducing more mature styling, mild-hybrid systems, and including the return of a light-duty diesel option. A big ol’ infotainment system sits right in the middle of the center console—in portrait orientation no less—but FCA’s Uconnect system is one of the best in the business. Loading … 03 (Tie). Chevrolet PP100: 141 SEE ALSO: 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV Review The Bowtie brand shares third place with Ram for 2020. Chevrolet benefitted from two segment leaders: the mid-size Malibu sedan and the sub-compact Sonic. What’s more, the Sonic was the best-rated car overall, scoring just 103 PP100. Chevy’s crossover and SUV lineup also performed well, with segment podium spots for models including the Trax, Equinox, Blazer, and Tahoe. Loading … 01 (Tie). Kia PP100: 136 SEE ALSO: 2020 Kia Forte GT Review Some things don’t change. For the sixth year in a row, Kia is the highest-ranked mass market brand in the IQS. With four segment winners—the Forte, Sedona, Sorento, and Soul—it’s hardly surprising. Customers have flocked to the Korean brand for years because of its high perceived value. More recently the brand has ladled on style and tech without any reliability worries, and this year’s results bear that out. Loading … 01 (Tie). Dodge PP100: 136 SEE ALSO: 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody Review In a first for any domestic brand, Dodge tops the charts in J.D. Power’s IQS. It ties Kia with just 136 problems reported per 100 cars. Dodge has a two-pronged advantage here: it uses FCA’s intuitive Uconnect infotainment system, and most of its models, such as the Challenger, Charger, and Journey, have been in production for a long, long time. It’s given the American automaker plenty of time to target and fix any issues, and judging by this win, its work has paid off. Loading … The post Top 10 Manufacturers for Initial Quality: J.D. 13.
Alvast Hartelijk Dank! Mvrgr Henk
  17. You’ve decided that you want to buy an SUV. But given the depreciation rates of today you’ve also decided that the SUV you want is a used one. A smart move that one. But the market is clearly over-saturated with SUVs as they have become the favored vehicle format of this decade. You can have an SUV in virtually any shape or size including a coupe and until quite recently, a convertible as well. So among the plethora of options, we’ve narrowed down 12 best SUVs you can buy for under $20,000 that would return the best bang for your buck. A couple of things before we begin. Always remember to check the vehicle history thoroughly especially for accidents and recalls. Also, test drive the vehicle until it satisfies you and we strongly recommend that you take your mechanic with you when you go to look at your potential purchases. One final disclaimer though, this not a ranked list. The SUVs featured here are based on their reliability, ease of repair, parts availability and customer requirement. The list is an attempt to highlight the variety of options available at a pricepoint. Toyota RAV4 Year: 2016-2017 Mileage range: 20,000 to 60,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $460/year It should really be no surprise that the Toyota RAV4 would be on the list. It’s strong sales numbers are a testament to consumer trust and brand loyalty. The primary reason for its popularity is its reliability and robust after-sales service. These factors also contribute to a lower depreciation percentage among its competitors. That’s why even cars with higher mileage demand premium prices in the used car market. If reliability and tension free ownership are your primary criteria, the RAV4 should be on your radar. You will be able to find a 2017 model with relatively high mileage for under $20,000. The 2017 model was the final facelift of the XA40 generation (the one before the current one). You can even find a hybrid under with asking prices bordering the $20,000 mark. Loading … As for the equipment, under 20K the trims available will likely be LE and XLE. The two base variants. The XLE comes with climate control and a 6.1 touchscreen infotainment system that supports iPod and Sirius XM. The LE is equipped with manual AC and the standard 6.1-inch infotainment system. Safety like emergency braking and pedestrian detection is standard on both but the blindspot detection is available on the XLE only. A couple of things to note about the RAV4: the infotainment does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, also, the interface itself is a bit dated. Lastly, the 2.5-liter gasoline engine though frugal for its size will feel underpowered as it makes just 176 hp and 172lb-ft of torque. Honda Pilot Year: 2013-2016 Mileage range: 20,000 to 140,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $460/year (2016)/ $570/year (2013-2016) The Honda Pilot is Honda’s largest SUV that competes in the mid-size SUV segment in North America. It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6. This is the ideal SUV for someone looking for a versatile people mover with three rows. For under $20,000 most of the Pilots you will find will be from the previous generation. Especially if you are looking for higher with higher level of convenience features. While you will find some current-gen albeit pre-facelift models as well but they will almost certainly have much higher mileage and a lower trim level. With the newer model you might have to make do with the LX or the EX variant. The 2016 model, however, will come with some driver assistance and safety systems that were not available on the 2013 model. In addition, the 3.5-liter V6 was significantly upgraded for the 2016 generation with output standing at 280 hp against 250 hp. The V6 is one of the most reliable engines on the market and will likely not fail on you. Loading … Honda issued a recall for the 2005 and 2008 model years of the Pilot due to faulty bicycle racks and steering column respectively. If you are opting for those, make sure to check the parts thoroughly. Also, older Pilots can develop transmission knocking and rough shifts. So ensure to test drive the car thoroughly and look into the service history. More often the culprit is transmission oil. Finally, the car can tend to feel a bit underpowered especially the old generation as it has only 250 hp/253 lb-ft to cope with the bulk. Subaru Forester Year: 2013-2017 Mileage range: 40,000 to 140,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $560/year (2017)/ $550 (2013-2016) The Subaru Forester an SUV that has a dedicated following not unlike the RAV4. I have personally known people who’ve ‘upgraded’ from an old Forester to a new one and with good reason. The Boxer configuration ensures the weight is concentrated lower in the chassis ensuring a more stable vehicle. Plus, the facts that it came with a WRX engine until 2018 and standard AWD only adds to its desirability. The new Forester however, is only available with the 2.5-liter engine paired to a CVT gearbox. Hence, a lot of Forester faithfuls have moved to actually looking at older cars. Even though, under 20K is a bit tight you can find good options. Though if you’re looking for the later models (2016-2017), the base will be the most common listing. We strongly recommend you look for at least the Premium trim as it adds the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power adjustable driver’s seat and the Subaru Starlink safety system. The only thing it doesn’t get is blind-spot detection. Plus, you can have it with a manual transmission. If you want the 2.0-liter turbo engine however, you will need to go for the older versions of the same generation. In addition, the 2.0-liter DIT was only available with the Limited and Touring trims which puts the engine at the very top also, it doesn’t come with a manual option. It does, however, come with 250 hp of peak power. Loading … A few things to watch out for if you’re going for the older models. The FB25, the 2.5-liter engine tends to develop problems with the connecting rod bearings past 100,000 miles and the 2.0-liter engine tends have a higher oil consumption plus can develop oil pressure loss and cam gear issues later in life. Plus, both engines demand premium gas for optimal performance. BMW X3 Year: 2013-2017 Mileage range: 35,000 to 70,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $890-$1040/year Looking for a luxury SUV for under $20,000? Well, thanks to the high rate of depreciation these days, that is not as difficult as it used to be. One of the best options in that space is the BMW X3. You can easily find one from the F25 generation for less than 20K. For that money you have an option of a 2.0-liter turbo making 242 hp if you go for the xDrive28i and the quintessential N55 3.0-liter turbo making 302 hp in the xDrive35i. Loading … The equipment levels in the SUV will be similar, the main differentiating factor between trims in BMW is usually the engine. A few things to note here are that these are the newer crop of engines which are significantly more reliable than previous engines. Even then they do tend to develop issues past 100k mark. The good thing is that BMW provides extended warranties on at-risk parts so ensure you get a lowdown on what they are. Also opt for any and all warranties especially on parts like the water pump, turbos, and the high-pressure fuel pump. Lastly, warranty on RFT (Run Flat Tires) is also essential as you can cancel it at a later stage but cannot opt for it once you make the purchase. The ownership of a BMW can be relatively more expensive but it is certainly one worth experiencing. Lexus RX Year: 2013-2014 Mileage range: 35,000 to 100,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $550-$650/year Just like the RAV4, the Lexus RX is one of the most dependable SUVs out there. Toyota’s luxury outfit has been producing the SUV for over two decades and in that time it has garnered a loyal following of its own. A lot of it is down to the never-say-die engine and the high-quality materials that refuse to age. It might not be the best driving SUV, neither the best looking but it will last you long enough to use it as a family heirloom and still work. Loading … Though finding low mileage options under $20,000 will be quite difficult for the RX holds its value really well. The options available will be from the previous generation but you will be able to easily find post-facelift models between 2013 and 2015 model years. In addition finding a hybrid RX will not prove to be difficult either. The RX was powered by a 3.5-liter V6 making 270 hp and 248 lb-ft in the gasoline version. The hybrid employed an Atkinson cycle version of the same engine to produce 295 hp of peak power. The RX is a comfortable and easy to drive vehicle that will remain hassle free as long as regular maintenance is done routinely. About the only downside is the infotainment system that feels complicated and quite dated. Kia Sorento Year: 2016-2019 Mileage range: 35,000 to 100,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $470/year The Kia Sorento is the second three-row SUV on this list and also one of the most versatile. The interior space offered on the Sorento can rival that of a minivan. Behind the front seats, it can fit in 73 cu ft. worth of luggage with ease. Hence, it is the ideal choice for someone looking for a family SUV comfortable for dogs included. We would highly recommend looking for SX and SX Limited trims for they offer an exhaustive feature list. The infotainment system offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SX Limited trim will come with adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, pedestrian detection and blind-spot with cross-traffic detection whereas the SX gets the blind-spot detection and standard cruise control. You will be able to find a good deal on models between 2016 and 2018 model years. Though we recommend that you look for a 2019 model as it is equipped with the 286 hp 3.5-liter V6 instead of the 270 hp 3.3-liter V6 in the previous year’s cars. And the Sorento will benefit from the added power. Loading … Most of the cars you find will have a higher mileage on the odometer but don’t fret for the V6 is a frugal and reliable engine. It is also very common which means parts availability will not be an issue. Plus, the Sorento has one of the lowest annual maintenance costs on this list. Jeep Grand Cherokee Year: 2015-2017 Mileage range: 20,000 to 60,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $530-$590/year You would be surprised to know that you can get the luxury Jeep for under $20,000. Although, the Grand Cherokee comes with some caveats, you cannot deny that it is a pretty sweet deal. Fortunately though, none of the caveats have anything to do with the engine. The one you will find will be the 3.6-liter Pentastar. Though the engine is virtually bulletproof avoid ones prior to model year 2014 as it had teething issues for a couple of years since its inception in 2012. Loading … The most common trim you will come across will be the Laredo and you will not find a 4×4 version in this range so it’s best to look for the best deal in 4×2 trims. Also, Jeep had issued recalls for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 models. The 2016 model had an issue with the shift interlock solenoid that coild leave the car stuck in park or neutral. So you should check the service and repair records thoroughly for this issue. Move on to the next one if records are not available. Another issue that could arise with the old cars was erratic shifting in the 2014-2015 models but a simple software update of the Transmission Control Module or TCM will rectify the issue. Hyundai Tuscon Year: 2017-2019 Mileage range: 15,000 to 40,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $550-$650/year If you want an SUV that is packed to the brim with features, offers a premium cabin with high-quality materials and is as reliable as a rock, you can’t do much better than the Hyundai Tuscon. For $20,000 you will be able to find a good Tuscon with relatively low mileage on the odometer between 2017 and 2019 model years. Loading … We recommend you look for the highest trim possible though you will be able to find the Tuscon Limited with relative low mileage with ease. For the money you will get a 1.6-liter turbo motor making 175 hp and 195 lb-ft.of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed DCT. But the main lure of Tuscon is its feature list. For the money, you will get soft-touch materials, climate control, heated seats, 8.0-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The only things you will miss out on will be autonomous braking with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning system. Honda CR-V Year: 2017-2019 Mileage range: 15,000 to 55,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $350/year Hondas have gotten expensive lately so buying one new rarely makes sense anymore. If you’re a fan of the CR-V and are on a budget, a used CR-V makes much more sense. Plus, you can have one from the current generation albeit a pre-facelift of course for less than $20,000. The good news is that all CR-V trims are pretty well equipped so long as you choose EX and above or the LX AWD trim. All safety systems including collision mitigation, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control are available across the board. Only the blind-spot detection is available on the Touring trim only. You also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Heated front seats though are available EX-L trim onwards only. Loading … The only catches here are that one, most of the ones you will find will likely have a high mileage. Secondly, the 1.6-liter turbo engine had a known issue. Honda did however offer an extended warranty on the engine to cover for the faulty motor. So before you put the money down, ensure you check with Honda and the owner that the warranty is still valid or not. Inifniti FX35 Year: 2008-2012 Mileage range: 30,000 to 120,000 miles Average maintenance cost: $530-$650/year The Infiniti FX35 is a classic case of ‘they don’t make ’em like they used to.’ arguably this is the OG performance SUV. A tiny coupe-esque SUV with a 302 hp 3.5-liter V6 tucked under the bonnet, the FX35 was the quintessential sleeper. And it has become one of the most sought after SUVs in recent times. Whether it will be a future classic or not is up for debate but one thing is certain, it is an absolute hoot to drive. Loading … Yes, the car is old and the one you want will probably have over 50,000 miles on the clock. Fortunately, the 3.5-liter engine is not only fairly common even today but is also one of the most reliable out there. It never loses its grunt as long as its maintenance is regular. Along with a great engine and performance the FX35 came with a premium cabin as well. For the time anyway. On the flip side, however, the cabin materials don’t age too well, so ensure you give the cabin a thorough look for wear and tear on the seats and upholstery. The headroom on the rear bench too is adequate for average-sized adults. Needless to say the FX35 is not a family vehicle in the traditional sense. 18. It’s a big win for Kia’s biggest vehicle; Soul EV picks up award too, alongside two wins for Porsche and one for Mazda. After months of whittling down the field, a panel of 86 jurors from across the globe selected the World Car of the Year winners, announced early Wednesday morning. The awards recognize the most significant new vehicles of the past year. For the first time in the awards’ 16-year history, a vehicle designed specifically for the North American market has won. Yes, Kia’s Telluride drove off with the top honor. It’s another addition to the three-row crossover’s trophy cabinet, alongside a recent win for North American SUV of the Year. It faced a Mazda duo in the final three, in the shape of the new 3 compact car and CX-30 crossover. SEE ALSO: 2020 Kia Telluride Review Mazda might’ve missed the main title, but it won one of the supporting fights. The little Mazda 3 picked up World Car Design of the Year, beating out the Peugeot 208 and Porsche Taycan. We’ve lauded the design of Mazda’s mainstream hatch since its redesign last year, especially the high-class interior, easily the best in its class. SEE ALSO: 2019 Mazda3 Review: We Drive the AWD Model, Hatch and Sedan The Porsche Taycan won two titles from the global awards: World Performance Car and World Luxury Car. In the former category, it was a guaranteed win for Porsche, with the Taycan, 911, and 718 Cayman GT4/Boxster Spyder all making it to the final three. The 911 showed up with its all-electric sibling in the latter category too, as well as the Mercedes-Benz EQC. That the Taycan won isn’t a huge shock: yours truly enjoyed the Taycan 4S when I drove it in Finland last year, calling it “a Porsche for a new era.” SEE ALSO: 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S First Drive Review The fifth and final World Car of the Year category was for the Urban Car category. Kia won here too, netting its second (ever) WCOTY win with the funky Soul EV. Like the Luxury lineup, the final three here were predominantly battery-powered, including the Mini E and the conventionally-powered Volkswagen T-Cross. SEE ALSO: 2020 Kia Soul EV Review 2020 Soul EV As the global market shifts ever more towards crossovers, it shouldn’t be surprising that one snatched up the top honor again at the World Car Awards. Last year the Jaguar I-Pace did the same, plus won in two additional categories. The UK brand’s F-Pace took the top spot in 2017, and the Volvo VX60 in 2018. The New York Auto Show was originally going to host this year’s announcement, but the ongoing COVID-19 situation has forced a rescheduling to August 28 through September 6. The 2021 World Car Awards will launch there with a preliminary list of vehicles. The post Kia Telluride Scores World Car of the Year 2020 Title appeared first on AutoGuide.com. Lees volledige artikel

  21. Having a big family means you need a vehicle with cavernous passenger space. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a huge budget. We know how bills can pile up, so we understand that a good deal on a seven-seat SUV is absolutely essential for some buyers. So we’re here to help. There are plenty of three-row SUVs, even luxury ones, that come with a bargain price on the window sticker. We’ve taken the pain to sort out a list of 14 such SUVs so you don’t have to. Let’s dive right in. Note: we’ve included destination charges for all of these models. Mercedes-Benz GLB: Starts at $37,595 The Mercedes GLB is the smallest entry on this list, but it’s also the most expensive. Why? Because it’s the only one that’s a real luxury model. That third row is for occasional use only, and probably not by any adults of average height, but it’s there when you need it and for some, that’s the point. The GLB offers a luxurious cabin typical of the brand. It includes features like the Hey Mercedes voice command system and the excellent infotainment interface that comes with it. The front seats offer impressive comfort. The GLB also boasts a plush ride, and is powered by a 221 hp turbo-four with optional AWD available. Loading … Toyota Highlander: Starts $35,720 This might be one of the newest models on the list, as the Highlander has just started to roll into dealers. On top of being new, it’s also the only one to offer a hybrid model, helping you save some fuel along with some cash. Gas-only models are powered by a 295 hp 3.5-liter V6 and Hybrids get 243 hp from the electric motor and 2.5-liter four-cylinder. SEE ALSO: 2020 Toyota Highlander First Drive Review Toyota makes the best driver assistance features standard across the range, including automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control for easier family road trips. With the new model comes more space, especially in the third row and for cargo behind those way-back seats. Loading … Mazda CX-9: Starts at $34,990 Unquestionably, this is the best of these affordable three-row crossovers for anyone who still enjoys driving. That’s because Mazda does its suspension and steering differently, and while it’s still fine on gravel roads, there is much less of a concession made to trade ride for handling. Steering is as crisp as you could expect in this segment and the ride goes the same way. SEE ALSO: 2019 Mazda CX-9 Review So if the kids don’t mind you making up time on an on-ramp, this is the one for you. It’s powered by a 2.5-liter turbo-four that makes great whooshing noises and it has a six-speed automatic that’s one of the best around. The third row is tight for anyone approaching six feet, but the ride and handling, the styling, and Mazda’s excellent interiors might mean that’s not an issue for you. Loading … Kia Telluride: Starts at $33,060 The Telluride is Kia’s version of the Hyundai Palisade, but while the Hyundai looks like it’s ready for a night on the town, Telluride looks like it’s ready to start bashing down a rugged dirt trail. Not that that means it’s a brute inside, it just has the styling that suggests it might be. The Telluride gets a 3.8-liter V6 making 291 hp and it can tow up to 5,000 lb of your stuff, but this multiple award-winning crossover also has room for up to eight passengers. SEE ALSO: 2020 Kia Telluride vs 2019 Subaru Ascent: Three-Row Throwdown There’s even a self-levelling air suspension available if you find you’re hauling lots of people or stuff in the back and want to avoid that high-in-front, low-in-back look that can afflict any heavily loaded vehicle with steel springs only. Going along with the styling and excellent build quality, the Telluride offers 8.0 inches of ground clearance so it really can manage those trails. Or at least the bumpy road to the cottage. Loading … Subaru Ascent: Starts at $33,005 The Ascent is Subaru’s biggest model yet, but despite the size it still does an impressive job of feeling like a Subaru. That means a compliant suspension that’s great for keeping drinks unspilled on all but the roughest roads. It also means a flat-four engine that sounds a bit like a small aircraft; this one is a 2.4-liter turbo that puts out 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard as is a CVT automatic. SEE ALSO: 2020 Subaru Ascent Review The Ascent can seat up to eight, but if all of your passengers have luggage, you might need to reduce that number, and the rear seat is average in class. Forward collision warnings, adaptive cruise, and lane departure warnings are all standard on this big crossover. Loading … Hyundai Palisade: Starts at $32,895 Hyundai went truly vast with its latest Palisade crossover, a model that’s much much bigger than the company’s previous three-row offerings. It offers an interior that’s more luxury car than you’d expect from Hyundai but it also comes with plenty of space for all of your occupants and cargo. The Palisade offers room in all three rows, and optional ventilated seats for second-row passengers if you’re willing to up the budget. SEE ALSO: 2020 Hyundai Palisade Review The 3.8-liter V6 offers 291 hp and comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Hyundai offers some neat tech features on this one, too, like cameras mounted in the mirrors that show your blind spot in the digital instrument cluster when you signal for a lane change. Loading … Nissan Pathfinder: Starts at $32,775 While the original Pathfinders were old-style SUVs, the model found a new trail to follow and became a large three-row crossover. That’s the path buyers have taken too, so a hat tip to Nissan for the change. The Pathfinder uses a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 284 hp and a CVT to maximize fuel economy. The third row is on the smaller side, though, which may limit the number of people you can fit back there. The second row slides fore and aft to let to trade off middle and rear space depending on what your needs on that particular day. The passenger-side second seat will fold forward with a child seat in place, a feature that a few on this list have, and something that could be very handy for anyone with little ones. Cargo space is below average, but the ability to tow 6,000 lb is at the top. Loading … Honda Pilot: Starts at $32,770 The latest Honda Pilot is a roomy place for seven people to sit, though if you’re planning on six-footers in the last row you’re going to want to do a test fit. The Pilot comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 and six-speed auto (nine-speed on top trims) that delivers 280 hp, but more importantly, delivers that signature Honda VTEC scream at a little over 5,000 rpm for those drivers who have the family along but still want to have fun behind the wheel. SEE ALSO: 2019 Subaru Ascent vs Honda Pilot vs VW Atlas: 3-Row SUV Comparison Honda Sensing comes standard, offering drivers collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, collision and lane departure warnings. If you want Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though, you’ll need to spend a few thousand more for the EX trim. Loading … Volkswagen Atlas: Starts at $32,565 The ninth-most affordable three-row crossover is the first showing on this list from Volkswagen. The made-in-Tennessee, made-for-America Atlas comes with a load more space than the Tiguan, but a price that’s not far off. Like the Traverse (next on this list), the Atlas offers up space for tall adults in the third row. Those who just want five seats should look at the (slightly) smaller Atlas Cross Sport. SEE ALSO: 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport First Drive Review The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that makes 235 hp on premium unleaded, or there’s a V6 that pushes power to 276 hp. Both ways you get an eight-speed automatic and the option of 4Motion all-wheel drive. Like the Tiguan, the Atlas offers a uniquely VW cabin and lets you add cool kit like the virtual cockpit display. Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection comes standard, along with blind-spot warnings and rear cross-traffic alert to help out if one of the seven other passengers is a little too distracting. Loading … Chevrolet Traverse / GMC Acadia: Starts at $30,995 The GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse share many components, but do have two big differences. The Acadia offers more luxury trims on the top end, and the Traverse is bigger. In fact, when it comes to dollars per cubic foot, the Traverse is near the top of the heap in any segment. It offers room for grown adults even in the third row, and seating for eight, with the Acadia offering just slightly less. A powerful 3.6-liter V6 and a nine-speed automatic makes these haulers brisk, and the Acadia can be had with a 2.0-liter turbo four for buyers who need a bit less power, more torque, and some fuel savings. Traverse can tow 5,000 lb if needed, and the secret compartment behind the radio should keep your good snacks safe from grabby hands on long road trips. Loading … Kia Sorento: Starts at $28,110 Kia has just announced a new version of the Sorento crossover, set to show up later in the year, but for now, your option is still the old model. Hey, maybe that’ll help you snag a better deal on what is an excellent three-row crossover. SEE ALSO: 2021 Kia Sorento Revealed with Sharp New Look The Sorento is handsome, if a bit blandly styled, inside and out, and offers a 185 hp 2.4-liter four or a 290 hp 3.3-liter V6. The Sorento gets family-friendly Yes Essentials fabric on base models, a fabric it says is earth-friendly, but, more importantly, also highly resistant to stains, liquids, dirt, and even static. The one-touch slide and fold middle row makes rear access a snap. Higher trims offer leather seating, more driver aids, and a near-luxury experience in a plain exterior wrapper. Loading … Volkswagen Tiguan: Starts at $27,860 If you’re thinking that starting price seems a touch high for the Tiguan, that’s because Volkswagen doesn’t offer the base model with all those seats. You’ll need at least the AWD version of the S model, plus $595, to get a three-row Tiguan. Why the choice? Well, some buyers need the extra cargo space, lower cost, or less weight. The VW offers blind-spot monitoring and a 184 hp 2.0-liter turbo as well as the brand’s trademark ride and handling balance and interior fit and finish, and if your budget stretches higher up into the Tiguan’s trims you can get leather, a big glass roof, and VW’s spiffy virtual cockpit digital dash that’s borrowed from Audi. Loading … Mitsubishi Outlander: Starts at $26,090 Mitsubishi’s Outlander is another three-row bargain. At that price, you might not get the nicest interior around, but you do get the standard third row and a 10-year powertrain warranty that should set aside some long-term ownership stresses. Front-drive is standard, with a 2.4-liter 166 hp four-cylinder and a CVT, with AWD optional. While it comes with a 7.0-inch display audio infotainment system, you’ll need to spend a few dollars more for the SE trim to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and active safety features like collision mitigation, lane departure warnings, and blind-spot assist. Loading … Dodge Journey: Starts at $24,990 The Journey is, bar none, the most affordable way to get three rows in a new crossover in 2020, unless you’re in California and one of a smattering of other states where you’ll need to look for a leftover 2019 model. Dodge simplified the Journey lineup for 2020, so there’s only one drivetrain option: a 173 hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder, a four-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive. But the important bit is those seven seats, and while the Journey isn’t massive, it isn’t the smallest in this group by a long shot. There’s enough space for a comfortable journey for passengers of almost any size and up to 67.6 cubic feet of cargo space.
