Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot Geplaatst 16 November, 2011 Geplaatst 16 November, 2011 It seems our very own Kia BUZZ editor Colin was beat to the chase in reviewing the long awaited all-new 2012 Kia Rio. Jose Antonio Lope, an editor at a blog dedicated to Korean automakers Kia and Hyundai, the Korean Car Blog (http://thekoreancarblog.com/category/home/), test drove the 2012 Kia Rio 5 Door with a 1.4 CRDi diesel engine. Jose is very interested in Korean cars and the newest technology from Kia. From his detailed review, you can see that he has a high appreciation for the all-new Rio’s many advanced and eco-friendly features. He starts his review with a comment on the overall size of the Rio, saying that the total length of the car is 4.04 m, which is 6 cm longer and 2.5 cm wider than the previous version of the Rio 5-door. You can also choose from two petrol engines, the ‘Kappa’ and ‘Gamma,’ or two diesel engines, the 1.1 CRDi with 75 hp and the 1.4 CRDi with 90 hp. He then mentions how the Rio also comes in an “EcoDynamic” version that includes various features to help reduce fuel consumption. Some of the EcoDynamic features include Kia’s Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system that turns the engine off momentarily when the car has stopped or is ‘idle,’ Low rolling resistance tires, a drag-reducing front grille, a gearshift indicator and a rear spoiler are also included in the EcoDynamics pacakge. If you are an environmentally conscious driver, you should definitely check out the EcoDynamic version of Rio. The two words that most often appear in Jose’s review are ‘fun’ and ‘comfort.’ Jose seems to have enjoyed his driving experience, claiming that the Rio had a great and soft handling that made driving very “funny” in the city, yet comfortable and stable on the highways. Jose was also impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship and the seamless finish of the interior. He complimented the quietness of the car and the quality of the materials that were used.
