Adventures of the enhanced Kia Rio hatchback

Earlier this year, the Kia Rio went through a number of visual improvements to maintain its competitiveness in the global subcompact market. Available in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles, the Rio is the brand’s best-selling vehicle range worldwide, with more than 500,000 units sold in 2014.

Today, hop in and take a ride in the Rio five-door hatchback, the subcompact that’s as fun to look at as it is to drive!

A fresh exterior look

Under the direction of Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors Corporation, the enhanced Rio has received a number of small modifications to its ‘face’.

The radiator grille is refreshed with a new geometric lattice pattern, while a newly designed front bumper features a larger air intake and integrated fog lights with chrome trim highlights.

Three new alloy wheel designs (15- and 17-inch) and a revised rear bumper complete the exterior makeover. Fresh and modern, the Urban Blue paint color is newly added to the color line-up.

Upgraded cabin with greater refinement

The Rio’s cabin is brightened by the addition of chrome accents around the four dashboard air vents, and the new center stack around the audio system offers greater ease of use.

Depending on the market, two new color packs are available for the Rio interior. A sporty new Red Package features black upholstery adorned with red stitching throughout the cabin, as well as red dashboard trim highlights and a matching high-gloss red gear knob. The Grey Package gives the Rio an elegant look by using soft grey stitching, new chrome trim inserts and two-tone grey and black seats and door trim. Leather upholstery is also available as an option across the Rio range.
