Our TV ad for the newly upgraded Kia Sorento with all new design and platform was shot near downtown, Los Angeles at the beginning of September. LA is the entertainment capital for TV and cinema, and I was excited to be on location and participate behind-the-scenes of the filming. Today on Kia-Buzz, I would like to give everyone a behind-the-scenes look at our new commercial. Producing an ad is an important step in the launching of a new vehicle and it’s an important communication method to give viewers a great first impression. The theme of the ad was “Kia Sorento isn’t just improved, it’s reinvented”, emphasizing its vast enhancements. Our storyboard was developed through a lengthy ideation and planning process. My first impression It was truly unforgettable because it was my first overseas ad shoot. It wasn’t easy, but the whole process was enlightening nonetheless. The scale of manpower and equipment required to shoot a 33 seconds ad was astonishing. Vehicle maintenance experts made sure the Sorento shine and look stylish throughout the whole shoot, and sprinkler trucks watered the streets to create Sorento’s reflection. The preparation time for the shoot alone took about 3 hours. Camera angles, lighting, vehicle checks, rehearsals and so many other details were carefully planned. Wrapping up and Final Cut I was nervous about this Sorento commercial airing on time because of the tight shooting schedule. I listened to my team’s feedback to incorporate final touches. Although collecting and applying feedback from everyone can be a bit overwhelming. Shot in America, edited in Korea headquarters, and scheduled to be released worldwide – I hope this 2013 Sorento commercial will be well received.
