Kia Sedona Recalled for Faulty Suspension Component

Kia is recalling nearly 80,000 Sedona minivans for a faulty suspension part that can break and possibly lead to loss of control.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the cause of the recall is the lower control arms near the wheels, which can rust and break due to salt exposure.

The recall affects Sedona vehicles from the 2006 through 2012 model years that were sold or registered in 20 cold-climate states where salt is used to clear the roads in the winter time. The affected states are: Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Those with the affected vehicles can bring their Sedona to a Kia dealership where the parts will be inspected and rustproof or replaced starting next month. The service will be taken care of free of charge.
