Being green doesn’t have to be an obvious statement anymore. The stylish, aerodynamic Ray Plug-in Hybrid Concept combines design and engineering for maximum efficiency. Touch-screen controls, drive-by-wire steering, cool-glazing solar glass and a lithium-polymer battery help make this futuristic four-seat compact sedan efficiently functional and striking in appearance.

 

 

 

 

The first Kia to include solar panels.It’s made from both lightweight and recycled materials—both of which contribute to the Ray’s distinct look. But it’s the materials in the roof that are most remarkable. Embedded in the glass roof panel are solar cells that power extra lighting and climate control systems. 

The Ray also features technology that helps cool the car. Nano-laminate film and cool-glazing materials work to reduce the solar heat. And when the vehicle is parked, the solar panels provide a charge that operates a cooling fan that helps reduce the interior’s temperature.
