Kia Champions Cup 2016 bleeds nostalgia, passion and appreciation for tennis

As an event intended for players who have retired from the mainstream professional tennis tour, the ATP Champions Tour is all about honor, nostalgia and an enduring love for the sport. The fiery heat and passion for tennis returned to Korea for the second consecutive year as Kia Motors hosted the three-day Kia Champions Cup 2016 earlier this month.

 

 

Headlined by legendary stars Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Marat Safin and Pat Cash, the competition attracted thousands fans and spectators worldwide who filled the stadium to witness the battle between the champions. The crowds went wild as the four legends entered the arena followed by the Kia Cadenza, the official vehicle of the event.

 

 

As seasoned champions, the players demonstrated class, finesse and showmanship that kept spectators (and viewers at home) on the edge of their seats. While the Russian tennis hero Marat Safin seized the title and the trophy, the real winners of the event were the tennis fans who took home unforgettable memories.

 

 

To add to the magic, Kia also hosted various fan events for the experience of a lifetime. At a fan meet-and-greet and autograph signing event, tennis enthusiasts had a chance to meet their heroes and have their memorabilia autographed. Forty lucky winners were invited to meet the legends up close and personal through a one point lesson event.
