Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot Posted May 20, 2011 Share Posted May 20, 2011 On May 10, 2011, Kia Motors America (KMA) hosted the Motor Press Guild’s (MPG) monthly lunch meeting at its Irvine headquarters. MPG is the largest automotive press association in the U.S., and this was the first meeting held at an OEM headquarters in more than four years. The event drew the largest MPG meeting attendance so far this year, with more than 150 MPG media members present. Tom Loveless, vice president of sales and Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing & communications reviewed KMA’s current sales success and marketing initiatives, and revealed pricing for the all-new 2011 Optima Hybrid to those in attendance. Journalists experienced the Optima Hybrid during an MPG-exclusive test-drive Following the lunch presentation, journalists were given the first opportunity for press to test-drive the Optima HEV in the U.S. on a short route in the vicinity of KMA’s corporate campus – this was also the first time for U.S. media to experience UVO in a production vehicle. The Sorento SX, Optima SX, Sportage SX and Forte 5-door SX also were available for test drives, and more than 50 journalists experienced the vehicles, with the majority of test drives taking place in Optima HEV. KMA also displayed a number of recently introduced vehicles, including the all-new 2012 Rio and Rio5, the 2012 Soul and the KV7 concept.
