The association of Kia’s image with the soccer world reached a peak last year in South Africa, where it sponsored the World Cup. That was only the beginning. Kia hopes to be one step closer to South American fans through football, one of the world’s most beloved sports.

Last April, Kia became a Global Gold sponsor of Copa America 2011, the world’s oldest, and South America’s biggest, football championship.

Copa America (http://www.ca2011.com/) is an international football competition contested by the men’s national teams of the members of CONMEBOL (the South American Football Confederation) and has the longest history in the world of football competitions. This historical South American tournament has been held since 1916, and the 43rd edition of the competition take place from 1 July to 24 July this year in Argentina.

During Copa America 2011, Kia will supply 55 official vehicles from its wide-ranging model line-up to the local organizing committee. Vehicles provided include the all-new Sorento SUV, Soul, Cerato sedan, Carens MPV and Carnival MPV.

In addition, Kia will be activating global promotional campaigns, like “Kia Lucky Drive to Copa America” and “Kia Champ into the Arena”

“Kia Lucky Drive to Copa America” is a program giving customers in 10 participating countries a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Mendoza, Argentina for semi-final match viewing and a sightseeing tour.

“Kia Champ into the Arena” is an annual five-a-side amateur soccer competition that will bring the 12 winning teams from participating countries to Buenos Aires, Argentina to compete in the final round. They will play the World Final tournament and also attend the final match of Copa America 2011.
