Speaking with AutoGuide a company representative, who prefers to remain anonymous, let slip that a sports car of sorts will debut next year. Involved in a discussion about the affordable performance category, ranging from cars like the Scion FR-S and Hyundai Genesis Coupe to the Ford Focus ST, our source commented that “we’ll have one of those next year.” Most likely is a twin to the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, using similar powertrains and the same rear-drive chassis. Hyundai is already expected to debut another rear-drive model in 2013 with the Quoris, again using the Genesis/Equus chassis and sized between the two. Rumors also point to Hyundai bringing its new Hyundai Azera sister car, the Cadenza to America, rounding out a lineup of premium and performance models similar to what Hyundai now has. The Korean automaker could, however, head in a completely different direction with its new performance car, instead revealing something similar to a hot-hatch, like the Trackster Concept revealed last year.
