About 660,000 vehicles across both Korean automakers’ lineups are being recalled for a faulty brake switch, an issue that has affected over two million vehicles worldwide. The recall hit North America in April with more than 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S. alone. Smaller recalls have since been launched in other markets such as Korea and China. SEE ALSO: Kia, Hyundai Recall 1.7M Units Over Stop Lamp Switch Issue Additionally, South Korea won’t be the last country to have a recall issued, according to a statement released by Hyundai: ”We plan to carry out additional recalls in other countries in accordance with their regulations and systems.” The most recent recall in South Korea affects 662,519 vehicles produced between the 2007 through 2011 model years to replace potentially faulty brake switches that fail to activate stop lamps or fail to disengage the cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed.
