Documents filed with the National Transportation Safety Administration show that Kia intends to recall 12,361 copies of the CUV that were manufactured between October 27, 2014, and January 29, 2015. According to the documents, vehicles included in the recall might have been manufactured with an improperly soldered component in the accelerator pedal assembly. Kia estimates that one percent of the total pool it included in the recall will be affected by the improperly soldered component. Those vehicles could unexpectedly enter a limp mode that will still allow the car to drive, but at a limited speed. Owners can expect to begin receiving notification from Kia this month if they own an affected vehicle.
