Kia Novo Concept Teases Future Compact Cars

While all eyes were on the 2015 New York Auto Show, Kia rolled out a new compact sedan concept at the Seoul Motor Show.

Called the Novo, Kia says the car is a small sedan with a coupe design, previewing the styling of upcoming Kia small cars. Based on the same platform as the Forte, the Novo only shows a new sporty design language, as Kia says it has no intentions of building this car. We can see the tiger-nose grille is slightly modified while big air intakes sit on underneath, framed by thin laser headlights.

Inside, a simple, clean interior is said to provide “sanctuary from the frenzied outside world,” according to Kia. The rear doors are hinged at the back.

Power comes from a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends its power to the front wheels. It’s hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The concept rolls on what Kia calls “adaptive concave profile” tires, which have sunken middle section between two areas of contact rubber. They are said to cool the tire, channel road water away from the tire, provide low-rolling resistance and provide a quiet drive.
