The upcoming Kia sports sedan will be based on the Kia GT concept that originally debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Although it is heavily camouflaged, the production Kia GT appears to keep similar proportions and is sized closely to the current Hyundai Genesis sedan, which will become the Genesis G70. Expect it to borrow styling cues from the Kia GT Stinger concept that debuted at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. SEE ALSO: Kia Stinger Sports Car Hinted in New Trademark Filing Kia’s goal for the sports sedan is to target models like the Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS, although it will be more closely priced to a Volkswagen CC. Expect prices to start around $40,000 when the model goes on sale sometime in 2018. Don’t be surprised if the Genesis G70 provides the rear-wheel-drive chassis as the foundation for the production Kia GT, which means the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine could transfer over.
