2017 Kia Optima Earns Highest Safety Marks from IIHS

The 2017 Kia Optima has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

The award only applies to vehicles built after March 2017 when equipped with optional front crash prevention and LED headlights with High Beam Assist. The 2017 Kia Optima earned good ratings on all five crashworthiness tests, while the optional front crash prevention system gets a superior rating. When equipped with LED headlights with High Beam Assist, it receives a good rating in IIHS headlamp testing.

In order to qualify for a 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests, which includes small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints, as well as an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention. Newly added for this year is the acceptable or good rating in headlight testing.
