Similarly, the Queensland Police Service in Australia have now taken delivery of their own sporty police cruisers: 2018 Kia Stingers . The Queensland Police will put 50 of the 365 hp 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 Stingers into service this year. The Korean sport sedans will replace the force’s aging Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores. “This is a very important day for us,” said QPS Commissioner Ian Stewart. “We needed a special product to do a job for us, and that is what we have here. A wonderful product.” SEE ALSO: 2018 Kia Stinger Review Kia was also rather happy about the QPS acquiring Stingers due to the exposure. “This level of public exposure and endorsement from a high profile government utility is something which wouldn’t have been on the radar just a few years ago,” said Kia Australia COO Damien Meredith. “It is just a beginning, but a very important one for us.” How long before we see a Kia Stinger police car put into service in North America? American police forces are loyal to American products for obvious reasons, but with a 365 hp twin-turbo engine, rear-wheel drive and a 0-60 mph time of just 4.9s, the Stinger would certainly be up to the task of patrolling the Interstate.
