  1. Kia Stinger represents a number of firsts for Kia Motors. Not only is it the brand’s first fastback sports sedan, but it is also our highest performance model to date. Countless decisions regarding design and engineering were made during the car’s conception in order to generate the heart-pounding performance of the Stinger GT. As a true gran turismo, Kia Stinger places a strong emphasis on high-speed and long distance driving. Let’s learn about the features that make the Stinger stand out from the rest of the pack. High Speed and Power A gran turismo must be able to reach top speeds anywhere under any circumstances. In order to satisfy this requirement, the Stinger comes available with a selection of highly capable turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines. The 3.3-liter twin-turbo engine of the GT specification generates 370 horsepower and delivers an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. Furthermore, the Stinger features an advanced “Launch Control” function that assists in generating maximum power when accelerating from a standing start. This electronic aid limits the wheel spin of the sports sedan, allowing the vehicle to accelerate more rapidly. To deliver on its high performance intentions, a brand new medium-sized rear-wheel drive platform was engineered for the Stinger. Everything from the engine room layout to weight distribution of the car has been rearranged and optimized. The low center of gravity and stiffness of the vehicle body keeps the Stinger lightweight and well-equipped for maximized driving performance and fuel efficiency. The reorganized layout reduces flow resistance to the front of the engine which leads to a much more effective engine cooling process. The Stinger has also been subjected to rigorous testing all around the world. Starting with basic environmental testing at the Namyang R&D Center in Korea, the Stinger has also successfully endured the deserts of Death Valley California, rugged mountain ranges of the Alps, the Nurburgring circuit of Germany and the arctic freeze of Arjeplog, Sweden. With all tests satisfactorily completed, the Stinger has proven its excellent durability and performance. Stability and Comfort Another aspect of importance for a gran turismo is its ability to provide a comfortable and stable long distance driving experience. Kia Stinger employs a softer, more adaptive suspension that adjusts firmness based on road conditions. To ensure smooth and stable driving performance, Kia has paid special attention to fine tuning the suspension of the Stinger. Employing high quality suspension links, springs and shock absorbers, Kia has refined tire movement to prevent spinning on sudden turns – a problem that can occur with rear-wheel drive vehicles. The Stinger is also the first model in our line-up to offer five different driving modes – Personal, Eco, Sport, Comfort and Smart – for more customized and responsive handling on the road. With increased body sealing and improved sound insulation, Kia has also boosted NVH performance for a pleasant and silent ride. Kia has devoted countless hours to developing and shaping the Kia Stinger into a true gran turismo. With innovative refinements and rigorous fine-tuning, our sports sedan is shaping up to be an iconic model that usher in a new era of design and performance for the brand. We hope you look forward to the arrival of the Kia Stinger in Kia dealerships near you! Lees volledige artikel

  3. Some car brands are really easy to get excited about, while others are a bit more difficult to get riled up for. The J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study has been released, which measures vehicle owners’ emotional attachment and level of excitement across 77 attributes, ranging from the power they feel when they accelerate to the sense of comfort and luxury they feel when getting into the driver’s seat. All the 77 attributes are combined into an overall APEAL index score, measured on a 1,000-point scale. SEE ALSO: Top 9 Interesting Findings in the 2017 JD Power APEAL Survey This year’s study is based on responses gathered from February through May 2017 from nearly 70,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2017 model-year vehicles. The owners were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The 2017 industry average is 810, with a dozen automakers performing under the average. Here are the 10 least appealing car brands, according to this year’s study. 10. GMC / Kia (tie) GMC and Kia tied with a score of 808. Kia, however, has numerous models being recognized in this year’s study, including the Kia Cadenza, which is ranked as the highest rated model in the Large Car segment. The Kia Optima also finished third in the Midsize Car segment, while the Kia Niro is the highest ranked Small SUV. Even the Kia Soul receives recognition as the highest ranked Compact MPV – in fact, the Soul is the only Compact MPV that performs above segment average. Last year, GMC finished above industry average (801) with a score of 802. Kia also performed better than industry average last year with a score of 807. 8. Buick (tie) With a score of 805, Buick is tied in eighth place. The American automaker’s Encore model also ties for second place in the Small SUV segment with the Kia Sportage. Also, the Buick Envision ranked third in the Compact SUV segment, behind the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue. Buick performed under the industry average last year as well, scoring 798. 8. Subaru (tie) Also scoring 805 is Subaru. Only the Subaru Outback ranked in any of the segments, coming in third in the Midsize SUV category. The Japanese automaker was the 10th-least appealing automaker last year, finishing with a score of 793. 6. Dodge (tie) Another tie occurs in sixth place, with Dodge scoring 795. The American automaker does get to brag about having the highest ranked Midsize Sporty Car with the Dodge Challenger beating out the Chevrolet Camaro. The Dodge Charger also ranks third in the Large Car segment. Dodge finished as the ninth-least appealing automaker in last year’s study with a score of 791. 6. Hyundai (tie) Tied with Dodge is Hyundai, which owners are finding less appealing than Kia with a score of 795. And unlike Kia, none of Hyundai’s models received recognition in their respective categories. Last year, Hyundai scored 795, which was below the industry average, but it managed to stay out of the bottom 10. 5. Mazda With a score of 793, Mazda is the fifth-least appealing automaker in this year’s study. Like Hyundai, the Japanese automaker has no models that finished in the top three of their categories. Mazda was the seventh-least appealing automaker last year with a score of 783. 4. Toyota Toyota may be known for its reliability, but the Japanese automaker’s cars aren’t exciting their owners. The company finished with a score of 792 in this year’s study, but the Toyota Yaris did finish third in the Small Car segment. Toyota did avoid being in the bottom 10 in last year’s study, but it did score under the industry average with 796. 3. Jeep With a score of 773, Jeep is the third-least appealing automaker for 2017. None of Jeep’s models were recognized in their respective categories. Jeep holds the same spot as it did last year when it scored 756. 2. Fiat Fiat scored 752 in this year’s study, making it the second-least appealing automaker. Not surprisingly, none of the Italian automaker’s models ranked in their respective segments. Like Jeep, Fiat finished as the second-least appealing automaker in last year’s study with a score of 755. 1. Mitsubishi The least appealing car brand in this year’s J.D. Power study is Mitsubishi, with a score of 750. Like the rest of the bottom finishers, none of the automaker’s models finished in the top three in their segments. With a score of 770, Mitsubishi was the fourth-least appealing automaker last year. But this year’s study paints a different picture for the Japanese automaker. 6. Summer is here and with it come days of fun! But before you set out with your Kia, it is always a good idea to check if your cherished ride is prepared and protected for the sun. Here are some useful facts about window tinting! While many of us are familiar with window tinting treatment, there are many common misconceptions. So, how much do we really know about window tinting? Test yourself below. Q: Window tinting should be discouraged because it threatens safe driving by distorting and obscuring the driver’s view. True or false? A: False. Window films, when properly applied, do not distort the sight of drivers. In fact, adequate color density of window tinting improves visibility by reducing potentially dangerous solar glare as well as the glare from snow, building windows and headlights of other vehicles. Q: Window tinting adds to the safety of vehicles in case of accidents. True or false? A: True. Tinting helps make the vehicle glass more shatter resistant. Although it may not necessarily prevent the glass from breaking, it will keep the glass from flying around and showering occupants, reducing the risk of further injury. Q: Window tinting prevents car break-ins and burglary. True or false? A: True. Window tinting decreases the chances of a break-in from occurring. This is not only because the darker tinted window prevents outsiders from peeping into your car, but also because treated glass is hard to break. Burglars hence are less likely to target cars with treated windows. Q: The darker the tinted windows are, the better. True or false? A: False. While it is true that tinted windows provide a level of protection from the sun’s UV rays, the amount of UV protection is dependent upon the SPF factor of the film, not the level of darkness. It should also be noted that overly tinted dark windows increase the likelihood of road accidents. For this reason, the level or darkness for tinted windows is often subject to government laws and regulations. Always remember to check any regulations in your region that may apply before getting your windows treated. Q: Window tinting prevents possible damage to the upholstery. True or false? A: True. Constant exposure to sunlight can damage and fade upholstery, not to mention any electric devices inside a car. With tinted windows, such risk can be avoided, allowing you to maintain the appearance and value of your car. Q: Window tinting contributes to the efficient energy consumption within the car. True or false? A: True. Window tint can reduce car interior temperatures by as much as 70%, which leads to enhanced air conditioning efficiency during the hot summer months. All of our Kia vehicles are prepared with a standard factory tint when they leave the production facility. If you decide to opt for an aftermarket tint, consult your installer to make sure the new tint will not damage the preexisting factory treatment. Prepare your car for the summer for safe and carefree driving! Lees volledige artikel

  12. The FIFA Confederations Cup – a world-renowned football tournament held every four years – kicked off in Russia on June 17th and concluded with the final match on July 2nd in which Germany defeated Chile by the score of 1-0. As an official automotive partner of FIFA, Kia Motors proudly supported this prestigious event, assisting in the smooth day-to-day operation of the tournament. With the aim of staging an unforgettable championship event, Kia supplied an 83-strong fleet of vehicles, including the Mohave, Sorento, Sportage and cee’d, to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of players and tournament officials. In the lead up to the kick-off, the vehicle handover ceremony took place at the Spartak Moscow stadium in the Russian capital of Moscow. In conjunction with the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, Kia successfully brought back its globally popular five-a-side amateur football tournament, ‘Kia Champ into the Arena’. Competing for the ultimate glory of being crowned global champions, 10 five-a-side teams were selected from national contests held in eight different countries around the world. Kia hosted the final ‘Champs’ competition in Sochi which was also won by the team from host country Russia, and invited the finalists to attend a semi-final match of the main tournament. 13. There are a lot of unique looking cars out there, and some of them are even affordable, meaning you don’t need a hypercar to stand out from the crowd. For the most part, automakers tend to stick to traditional styling for their vehicles, finding subtle ways to set them apart from the crowd. But every now and then, they like to go outside the box and design something so unique that it borders on strange. SEE ALSO: The Short List: Top 10 Ugliest Cars We decided to take a look at the top 10 most unique looking everyday cars, vehicles you will likely see on today’s roads. They may not be pretty, but they are definitely different. 10. Range Rover Evoque Convertible The Range Rover Evoque from Land Rover was a unique looking crossover when it first debuted, and now Land Rover has made even it stranger by chopping off its roof. It will be interesting to see how the Range Rover Evoque Convertible does on the market, considering another convertible crossover, the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, wasn’t exactly a hot seller. Read our Range Rover Evoque Review 9. Fiat 500X The design of the standard Fiat 500 is iconic and the 500X is trying to replicate those cute looks in a crossover format. The funky compact crossover might have Italian flair and its quirky style isn’t for everyone, but it does stand out from other cars in its segment. Last year, Fiat managed to sell 11,712 units in the U.S. and 766 in Canada. Things aren’t looking better this year, as only 3,980 units in the U.S. and 786 in Canada have found new homes through June 2017. Read our Fiat 500X Review 8. Jeep Renegade Although the Jeep Renegade’s front end does feature the automaker’s signature seven-slot grille, the rest of the compact crossover is quite unique to the brand. Sure, it has the same overall boxy profile we’ve come to expect, but it still has a special look that sets it apart. It’s also quite the success on the market, with Jeep selling 106,606 units in the U.S. last year and 3,962 in Canada. Sales aren’t slowing down either, as 53,027 Renegades have sold in the U.S. through June 2017, along with 2,968 units in Canada. Read our Jeep Renegade Review 7. MINI Clubman For the most part, MINI models have pretty unique styling, but the Clubman takes it to another level. While the front end resembles other existing MINI models, its wagon body doesn’t make the Clubman particularly mini. Last year, a total of 12,204 Clubmans were sold in the U.S., and through June 2017 the British automaker has sold 3,778 units in the U.S. and 456 in Canada. Read our MINI Clubman Review 6. Volkswagen Beetle Very few vehicles are as recognizable worldwide as the Volkswagen Beetle and it’s definitely one of the most unique-looking cars available today. The overall bubbly, round shape has defined the Beetle for generations and has helped it stand out from everything else on the market. With sales declining, however, the future of the Beetle is up in the air, according to the latest reports. Last year, Volkswagen sold 15,667 units in the U.S. and 2,402 in Canada. Sales this year are on a similar pace, with 8,821 units sold in the U.S. through June 2017, along with 1,773 units in Canada. Read our Volkswagen Beetle Review 5. BMW i3 Considering it was built from the ground up to be an electric car, it’s little surprise the BMW i3 doesn’t look like a conventional car. But unlike the BMW i8 that looks like a proper supercar, the i3 is a bit oddly shaped with a fairly unique front end, especially compared to the rest of the German automaker’s lineup. In the U.S., a total of 7,625 BMW i3s sold last year and so far through June 2017, it has managed to move 2,992 off dealership lots. Unfortunately, BMW Canada bundles the i3 and i8 sales figures together, so it’s unclear how well the BMW i3 is doing in Canada. Read our BMW i3 Review 4. Kia Soul There was a time the funky, boxy Kia Soul had competition with the Scion xB and the Nissan Cube. But now the Scion brand is completely dead and Nissan has cut the Cube from its lineup, leaving the Soul by its lonesome, unless you consider the Jeep Renegade its competition. The unique looking crossover continues to do well for Kia, selling a total of 145,768 units last year in the U.S. and 12,672 in Canada. Through June 2017, sales have slowed a bit with 53,116 units sold in the U.S. and 5,312 in Canada. Read our Kia Soul Review 3. Hyundai Veloster Hyundai‘s compact hatch has always been considered unique ever since its debut. With a low roofline, a sculpted front end, pronounced fenders, and the asymmetrical design, the Veloster is unlike any other hatchback offered today. Hot hatch fans can look forward to the Veloster N model that’s set to eventually arrive in the U.S. Last year, the Korean automaker sold 30,053 units in the U.S. and 1,831 units in Canada. This year, however, things aren’t as bright for the Veloster with 7,992 units sold in the U.S. through June and 1,829 in Canada. Read our Hyundai Veloster Review 2. Toyota C-HR The Toyota C-HR started its life as a Scion model, giving the youth-oriented brand a funky crossover. But Toyota decided to axe the Scion brand and now the automaker has the crossover all to itself. With its sporty stance and funky overall design, it stands out in a segment that’s full of jellybean-shaped subcompact crossovers. Introduced earlier this year, the C-HR has sold 5,498 units through June 2017 in the U.S. and 1,331 in Canada. Read our Toyota C-HR Review 1. Nissan Juke It almost seems like all the unique looking crossovers available today are trying to target the Nissan Juke, arguably the original funky crossover. Some might think this is the ugliest CUV available while others love its weirdness, but it is definitely unique either way. It appears the Juke could be losing ground to its competition, with the company selling 19,577 units in the U.S. last year and 4,442 in Canada. Through June 2017, 7,245 Jukes have been sold in the U.S. and 1,370 in Canada. Read our Nissan Juke Review The post Top 10 Most Unique Looking Everyday Cars appeared first on AutoGuide.com News. 15. Grilles are one of the most noticeable and symbolic parts of a vehicle. While car grilles are utilitarian in nature, created to guard the engine compartment, manufacturers often incorporate unique designs to inevitably lead car owners and pedestrians into associating the grille aesthetics with the brand. Grille variations without a doubt play a role in diversifying the vehicles of any line-up. While maintaining a unified family-look with the brand’s signature tiger nose grille, Kia has been offering different grille options to give a greater breadth of flavor and create unique personalization options. Here are Kia’s most sought-after models with attention-grabbing grille options. Soul & Soul EV The Soul is Kia’s popular and iconic urban crossover that demonstrates that ‘boxy-ness’ can be done with plenty of style. The Soul’s eye-catching ‘tiger-nose’ grille gives the model a distinctive sporty appearance. The face of the Soul features a small tiger-nose shaped upper grille with a larger mesh-covered lower grille. Representing the brand’s first battery-powered full-electric vehicles sold in overseas markets, Kia Soul EV is a top-rated contender among reasonably-priced electric vehicles. Whereas the gasoline-powered Soul model requires the mesh grille to cool off the radiator, the eco-conscious Soul EV is distinguished by its grille, which efficiently serves as a charging port. Dual charging ports behind a sliding door in the front grille offer flexibility and convenience, as well as increasing the Soul EV’s go-anywhere appeal. Still incorporating Kia’s iconic grille design, the Soul EV stands out from the crowd with its funky, playful aesthetics. ▶ Learn more about the performance of Soul EV Cadenza As Kia’s new interpretation of full-sized luxury sedans, Cadenza brings about everything you desire in a modern, premium vehicle. The Cadenza makes its presence known with both subtlety and opulence, and its beautifully crafted grilles add perfection to the model’s breathtakingly irresistible appearance. The 2017 Kia Cadenza comes with a pair of different grille options: the Diamond Butterfly and the Intaglio grille. Diamond Butterfly grille While both feature a new hexagonal version of Kia’s iconic tiger-nose grille, each have unique touches that set them apart. The Diamond Butterfly grille, available on the lower trim levels, features the similar three-dimensional pattern as several siblings within the Kia lineup. Intaglio grille Higher trim models come with the Intaglio grille – a step in a new design direction for Kia. The Intaglio grille is comprised of faceted blades set vertically across the front, creating sharp edges that give the front of the vehicle a bold, confident look. Both signature grilles have a concave design that curve in toward the engine compartment, giving the Cadenza an added dimension of sophistication. Cerato & Cerato Koup The Cerato (Forte) is one of Kia’s most successful models, featuring a modern, athletic appearance with invigorating driving performance. Borrowing visual cues from the highly stylish Kia Optima, the Cerato sedan has an aggressive front fascia with a bold and wide tiger-nose grille that extends into the headlights. As the performance-focused member of the family, the Cerato Koup (Forte Koup) is a dynamic and charismatic option that offers surprising comforts and amenities tailored for city drivers. The front fascia of the Cerato Koup displays a narrow and long tiger-nose paired with a larger lower grille opening. Which grille designs did you find most appealing? 16. The 2017 Kia Forte has received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The compact sedan features structural improvements for the 2017 model year, boosting its performance in the small overlap front crash test. Along with an optional, superior-rated front crash prevention system and available good-rated headlights, the 2017 Kia Forte gets the highest award from IIHS. The Institute also notes that Forte vehicles built after March have beefed-up structure at the door hinge pillar and the door sill, which helped the car earn a good rating in the small overlap front crash test. In the test of the Kia Forte, the driver’s space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of three inches at the footrest. The dummy’s movement was well-controlled, and measures from the dummy indicated a low risk of injuries in a crash of this severity. SEE ALSO: 2017 Kia Forte Sedan Review Earlier Kia Forte models earned a marginal rating on the small overlap front crash test, with intrusion reaching eight inches at the lower hinge pillar. In addition, in previous models, the dummy’s head contacted the instrument panel, and the side curtain airbag failed to provide sufficient forward coverage. The Forte’s optional front crash prevention system earns a superior rating, avoiding collisions in IIHS track tests at 12 and 25 mph. Units built after July 2016 equipped with the Premium Plus package on the EX trim line earn a good rating for headlights. Vehicles without the Premium Plus package, as well as those with the package but built before August 2016, have poor-rated headlights. Taking home this prestigious recognition for the second consecutive year, this year’s distinction may be the greatest yet, as Kia has shown the best performance of any brand in the 20 years of the study and received five segment awards – the most wins by any nameplate in this year’s study. The IQS scores for 2017 were determined based on nearly 80,000 responses from vehicle owners in the United States. Kia’s 2017 score of 72 was five points lower than that of the runner-up and eleven points better than last year’s evaluation. Our record-setting performance indicates that Kia is well on its way to becoming an industry leading quality brand. Meanwhile, five Kia models – the Soul, Forte (Cerato), Cadenza, Niro and Sorento – were presented with separate segment awards, with the Soul taking top honors for the third straight year in the compact multi-purpose vehicle category. The Niro and Cadenza performed excellently as well, with the Cadenza emerging with the highest score among all vehicles in this year’s study. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] Top Gear isn’t what it used to be with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May gone, but you can now remember the good old days by purchasing the show’s old Kia C’eed ‘Reasonably Priced Car’. The actual Kia C’eed used by Top Gear to film the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment from 2010 to 2013 has been listed for sale on Auto Trader this week. This molten red hatch was driven by Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Simon Pegg and Matt LeBlanc during its stint on the show, with LeBlanc wheeling it around Dunsfold Aerodrome in 1 minute and 42.1 seconds to top the celebrity lap time charts. The Kia retains all the go-fast features Top Gear fans might recognize from the show including the Corbeau racing seats, race harnesses and a full roll-cage. Following its time on the show, it was shipped to a Kia Motors where it was used as a promotional vehicle before heading to a Kia dealer with 3,000 miles on the clock. It now shows 7,200 miles on the odometer, with the current owner saying he’s driven more than 4,000 miles on public roads. He’s also never tracked or raced it. SEE ALSO: The New Top Gear America Series Might be Pretty Good “‘Everyone tells you to look for a car with one careful owner, but you could be forgiven for worrying when that one owner is Top Gear, and we have clear TV evidence of the extreme driving behavior this particular car has endured,” joked Auto Trader editor Andy Pringle. “That said, this is probably the best maintained KIA Cee’d on the planet – and having been entrusted with the lives of some of the world’s biggest stars– its full KIA service history and low mileage could offer something different for a buyer who’s on the lookout for arguably the most famous KIA Cee’d in the world.” The world-famous Kia has been priced at £4,500, only marginally more expensive than Auto Trader’s valuation guide price of £4,230. Despite its stardom, this Kia remains reasonably priced.
