For Kia, being green means more than just being a manufacturer of eco-friendly vehicles. The recent announcement of our ambitious Eco Roadmap for 2020 outlined Kia’s plans for lowering the harmful emissions from our vehicle line-up, which includes the expansion of our eco-friendly vehicle range from four to eleven cars by 2020. Today, we’d like to introduce some of the developments taking place at our facilities around the world in terms of optimizing research, development and production processes. Coupled with our burgeoning eco-friendly vehicle offerings, our goal is to achieve substantial growth that is not offset by negative environmental consequences. Greener Production Flow In 2014, Kia Motors set up the Safety & Environmental Planning group, a task force dedicated to managing the safety and sustainability of corporate systems. By applying environmental management practices to business operations, Kia is able to reduce unnecessary energy consumption and minimize pollutants for greener production. Recycling and Eco-Efficiency Kia strives to reduce both the amount of input materials (including energy) and output of waste and harmful emissions. Adhering to rigid green production standards and guidelines, Kia selects raw materials that will be easily dismantled, recycled, and reused in the future. This process is known as eco-efficiency, and Kia effectively recycles manufactured parts and waste output to decrease input costs and environmental pollutants. Kia’s eco-efficiency figure has improved 55.4 percent since 2004, and as a result, we were able to achieve a 9.1 percent decrease in CO2 emissions per vehicle last year. Hazardous Chemicals Since 2012, Kia has completely eliminated the use of the four key heavy metals: lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chrome. Global restrictions have been placed on these chemicals because of their hazardous effect on our ozone. We have since replaced them at our worksites with alternative materials. With stricter management, monitoring, and inspection, we are also working to reduce other hazardous controlled chemicals during production. Since 2013, we have achieved a 12 percent decrease in year-on-year decrease in per-unit use of hazardous chemical. Promise for the Future With 31.6 trillion Korean won earmarked for future environmental-related R&D activities, Kia is relentlessly pursuing actions to minimize our carbon footprint and negative impact on the environment. Through safe and streamlined green management practices, Kia hopes to not only realize environmentally conscious automobile designs but also make cutting-edge improvements along the production line. Committed to both people and nature, Kia is hopeful that our environmental and sustainability innovations will be integral in the future of automobile production. <p>Hoi,<br /> Betreft een Kia Ceed 1.6 diesel van midden december 2009, het vorige model, net na de facelift.<br /> De garantie verviel op de wagen (150.000km) en ben veranderd van garage voor 't onderhoud, beurt gehad in december en kort daarop naar de keuring geweest.<br /> Wat viel op vanaf deze periode tot nu ; een grommend geluid die lijkt te komen uit het rechter voorwiel of ergens vanuit de motorkap. Geluid is niet constant aanwezig, en soms luider en dan weer niet hoorbaar. Best hoorbaar rond 80 km/h. Trap je de koppeling in, blijft het geluid.<br /> Het lijkt op een wiellager, maar dan zou het geluid meer constant aanwezig moeten zijn vermoed ik.<br /> Ook lijkt bij wegrijden van de oprit of in 2e versnelling bij een korte bocht ergens iets te 'wringen'.<br /> De wagen loopt mooi rechtdoor en banden slijten gelijkmatig, remmen lopen niet aan.<br /> Wat opvalt is dat het verbruik met bijna een liter per 100km gestegen is ! In de winterperiode was het verbruik voorheen net boven de 5 liter (zomer net onder de 5) nu staat het gemiddelde verbruik op bijna 6 liter.<br /> Wagen is ondertussen naar de garage gewest, er is mee gereden geweest maar geluid manifesteerde zich niet, ook op de brug was niets vreemds op te merken.<br /> Iemand enig idee ?</p> Lees het hele artikel

A new list of the 10 best vehicles for 2016 has been released by Consumer Reports (CR). To be named the top pick in a chosen category, a vehicle must first earn top scores on a road test, its reliability based on problems reported by subscribers for 740,000 vehicles must be top notch, owner satisfaction with the car must be high, and it must perform well in crash tests. For 2016, the publication put together a list of 10 top picks covering the most popular segments in the U.S. Best Subcompact Car: Honda Fit The 2016 Fit scored a 67 out of 100 on a Consumer Reports road test. It also has increased crash protection over its predecessor, a standard backup camera and high owner satisfaction scores. SEE ALSO: 2016 Honda Fit Review Best Sports Car Under $40K: Mazda MX-5 Miata Mazda’s redesigned roadster scored an 80 out of 100 in CR testing, and took the win thanks to its fun-to-drive ways and good fuel economy. CR calls it the “perfect car for the enthusiast driver and weekend racer.” SEE ALSO: 2016 Mazda MX-5 Review Best Compact Car: Subaru Impreza In CR road tests, the 2016 Subaru Impreza managed a score of 76-79 out of 100, and was lauded for its smooth ride and overall comfort. Can one car be good enough to represent the quality of an automaker’s entire lineup? Likely not, so Consumer Reports has determined which car brands consistently deliver vehicles that serve consumers well. The publication tabulated the overall score, road test score and predicted reliability results for each tested model of a brand. Those figures were then averaged at the brand level before being used to rank automakers to see who makes the best cars. Honda Honda had an overall score of 71, a road test score of 73 and a predicted reliability of average. The brand has 88 percent of its models recommended by Consumer Reports. According to the publication, the Japanese automaker suffered due to problematic new transmissions in recently updated models. 9. Kia Kia is next on the list with better than average predicted reliability, but only 67 percent of its models are recommended. Still, it had an overall score of 72, boosted by its road test score of 75. 8. Toyota Toyota is well known for its reliability and it shows with a best rating under predicted reliability. It suffers, however, because some of its models only rank in the middle of Consumer Reports‘ road tests and only 62 percent are recommended. Its overall score of 72 actually ties Kia, but its road test score is lower at 69. 7. Buick The sole American automaker in the top 10, Buick comes in with 80 percent of its models recommended, helping net an overall score of 74. Its road test score is respectable at 76 and its predicted reliability is better than average. 6. Mazda Mazda is the first automaker in the top 10 to have all of its models recommended along with better than average predicted reliability. Its overall score ties Buick at 74 and the Japanese brand actually has a lower road test score at 74. But it can claim that 100 percent of its models are recommended. 5. BMW BMW is the first German brand in the top 10 at the fifth spot with an overall score of 76 and a road test score of 85. The publication ranks its predicated reliability as average and only gave half its models a recommended rating. Then again, BMW likes to have a billion models in its lineup, so that’s fair. 4. Porsche Besting BMW is Porsche in fourth place, although its overall score is the same at 76. The company known for exciting sports cars actually has a lower road test score of 84, while its predicted reliability is also the same as BMW, at average. It does, however, have 60 percent of its models recommended. 3. Lexus Toyota’s luxury arm, Lexus, continues to have success in numerous studies conducted by Consumer Reports. Its overall score ties both BMW and Porsche at 76 and its road test score is actually quite lower at 74 compared to the two German automakers. It does, however, have 88 percent of its models recommended and earns a best rating in the predicted reliability category. 2. Subaru Leading all mainstream brands is Subaru, with an overall score of 78. It is also another brand that has all of its test models recommended and gets better than average predicted reliability. The Japanese automaker earned an 80 for its road test score. 1. Audi Topping the list for best automakers of 2016 is Audi, which may come as a shock considering the recent massive diesel scandal. Every test model is recommended by Consumer Reports, but it’s worth noting that the company did not include vehicles that have been pulled from dealership showrooms. That means that TDI models were not included. Still, Audi has better than average predicted reliability along with a road test score of 83 and overall score of 80. Both Audi and Subaru performed very well on road tests and have strong reliability, but most importantly, their owners are very satisfied with their cars. Surprised to not see Mercedes-Benz in the top 10, considering both BMW and Audi are? Well, Consumer Reports noted that Mercedes has an inconsistent reliability record, causing it to drop to 14th place. As the annual Geneva Motor Show approaches, Kia Motors is gearing up for the debut of the latest upcoming models in our vehicle line-up. We welcomed over 120 influential automobile journalists from 15 European countries to Kia Motors Europe headquarters this week for a sneak peek preview of the European specification Optima plug-in hybrid and Niro hybrid as well as the world premiere of the never-before-seen Optima Sportswagon. As the annual Geneva Motor Show approaches, Kia Motors is gearing up for the debut of the latest upcoming models in our vehicle line-up and welcomed over 120 influential automobile journalists from 15 European countries to Kia Motors Europe headquarters this week for a sneak peek preview of the European specification Optima plug-in hybrid and Niro hybrid as well as the world premiere of the never-before-seen Optima Sportswagon. Journalists were given the chance to conduct exclusive interviews and get an up-close look at the new models in person. After the press conference, guests ended the night in celebration with a cocktail reception and flying buffet. The members of the press had very warm words for Kia’s newest vehicle innovations. The Niro was recognized for its innovative hybrid bodystyle, advanced driving assistance features and cutting-edge infotainment system. Its high-quality interior and deep cerulean blue paint color were also praised. Optima Sportswagon received recognition for its eye-catching exterior style, smartly designed in-cabin features and spacious interior. Applauding the car’s overall quality, many predicted great success for it in the European D-segment market. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The Kia Optima Sportswagon has been officially unveiled ahead of its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The Korean automaker has shown off its first-ever D-segment tourer, which will go on sale across Europe in the fourth quarter of 2016. The Kia Optima Sportswagon is inspired by the Sportspace Concept that debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and will be available with a choice of gasoline and diesel powertrains. Although Kia didn’t get into specifics on engine sizes or performance figures, it did say that there will be a high-performance GT model in the lineup. We expect details to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. First previewed by the Kia Sportspace concept at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, the production model keeps a similar footprint and overall design, although the front end isn’t as aggressive as the concept. Still, the Optima looks quite nice in wagon form. Unfortunately, there’s still no word if it will be offered in the U.S., but it seems unlikely considering how weak wagon sales are stateside. Boasting a 600-mile range, the Kia Optima plug-in hybrid features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 50-kW motor that is 42 percent more powerful than the engine used in the previous Optima Hybrid. Further supporting the plug-in hybrid system is a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving the Optima an all-electric range of 27 miles. According to the Korean automaker, a full charge with a 240-volt Level 2 charger can be done in under three hours, while a standard Level 1 120-volt charger will take about nine. 2016 Chicago Auto Show Coverage For the Optima plug-in hybrid variant, drivers will get to select from three different modes: all-electric, hybrid and charging. Both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants have a Coasting Guide, which helps coach the driver when to coast or brake to maximize fuel economy.
