As 2012 winds to an end, AutoGuide looks back at all the vehicles that received the axe this year, some that will be missed, while others surely won’t be. Let’s take a journey down the memory lane and wrap up 2012. 5. Become a Superhero in this Batman-Inspired Optima Back in October, Kia Motors America teamed up with DC Entertainment and RIDES magazine to create a brooding, Batman-inspired Optima to be displayed at New York’s Time Warner Center. This was the first of eight customized Kia vehicles to signal the beginning of a 10-month partnership based on the iconic characters of the Justice League. Not only this Batman inspired Optima looked awesome, but it was also for a good cause – It was to benefit DC Entertainment’s “We Can Be Heroes” giving campaign, a relief effort to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa. 4. Paris Show world premiere for all-new Kia Carens Every Kia vehicle launch is special to us but all-new Carens premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September was extra special – it had been more than 5 years since the design change and first time under Mr. Peter Schreyer’s direction. Built on an all-new platform, Carens delivers spacious practicality with sleek aerodynamics, a cab-forward design, long wheelbase and up to seven seats, perfect for a modern family. 3. All-new Cerato (Forte) Images Released One of the hottest selling Kia sedans, all-new Cerato/Forte boasts sleeker styling with ‘dynamic muscularity’ in a design that is longer, lower and wider than the current car with an extended wheelbase. It also features an all-new bodyshell, upgraded equipment, a host of additional convenience and safety features, a more spacious cabin with enhanced quality, improved refinement and an upgraded powertrain. Fans have responded very well to its dramatic design upgrade as we hoped for. 2. Kia Luxury Flagship Sedan to be Named ‘Kia Quoris’ for Export Markets Kia’s first luxury flagship sedan received buzz from all over the world (named K9 domestically), and its name for the export market was a big decision for Kia. Many fans gave us their ideas and we finally decided with ‘Kia Quoris’, word ‘Quoris’ deriving from the English words ‘core’ and ‘quality’. With an unconventional name, Kia Quoris hopes to stand out further from the established crowd, successfully securing its spot in a new segment for Kia. 1. Spy Shots of Kia Police Cars in New James Bond Film – Skyfall It was very exciting for us to tell Kia fans that our Sportage and Optima would be featured in none other than the new James Bond film, Skyfall. During the sequence, the Kia Optima and Sportage police cars played central action roles in London to trap the evil-doers. Some of our sharp-eyed customers who were in London at the time of filming saw the cars and sent pictures to our Kia-Buzz staff. With this major debut, we hope to see Kia cars in many more films to come. We hope you enjoyed our last posting of the year 2012. Legendary designer Peter Schreyer, most known for his work at Audi, has been appointed as the first non-Korean president of Kia Motors. Schreyer was hired from Volkswagen back in 2006, and is credited with Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ design which can now be found on the front end of almost every vehicle in the brand’s lineup. The promotion makes Schreyer one of three presidents of the company. Schreyer was originally hired to help the Korean brand overhaul its entire lineup, to give them a better global portfolio. The appointment of Schreyer shows Kia’s ambition to outdo its German rivals, which was a key part of the brand’s strategy when it first hired Schreyer back in 06. “I wanted to give Kia a character and a family feel… If you come to a country and you see a Kia, you should recognize it immediately, like you recognize a BMW or Mercedes immediately,” Schreyer said in an interview. 2012 was certainly an eventful year for Kia Motors. From various new vehicle launches, awards to motor shows, it was a wild ride and we enjoyed every moment of it. Today on BUZZ, we’d like to recap some of these momentous milestones and share with you what got us moving in the year 2012. Let’s take a look. 2012 Highlights and Milestones 1) All-new Kia cee’d premiers at Geneva Motor Show All-new Kia cee’d made its global premiere at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show. More sophisticated, more efficient, more refined and with a more engaging driving experience than its predecessor, new cee’d launched to build on the success of the original model, further establishing Kia as one of the leading automotive brands in Europe. 2) Kia Picanto and Rio win red dot ‘Product Design’ awards Kia has been awarded two top honors for its Picanto and Rio models in the 2012 red dot design competition. The five-door versions of Kia’s striking A-segment Picanto and B-segment Rio were both winners in red dot’s internationally-acclaimed ‘Product Design’ category, in a competition that saw more than 4,500 products entered by 1,800 manufacturers from 58 countries across a variety of product sectors. 3) All-new elegant and luxury flagship sedan Kia Quoris (K9) is launched Kia’s striking, rear-wheel drive, all-new flagship sedan Kia Quoris made its grand debut in May. The new luxury model (known as ‘K9′ in the domestic market) went on sale in Korea in early May, and features a host of high-tech comfort and safety features, many of them never seen before on a Kia. 4) Construction begins for third China plant with a 300,000-unit annual capacity Kia Motors and its Chinese subsidiary, Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motor Co., Ltd., held the groundbreaking ceremony for its third plant in the Yancheng Economic Development Zone (Jiangsu Province) in June, officially signaling the start of construction of the automaker’s newest state-of-the art manufacturing facility. The plant, which will boast an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles when completed in the first half of 2014, is an aggressive move by Kia to further strengthen its presence in China, which has become the world’s largest automotive market. Combined with the current annual capacity from its two existing plants in the Yancheng Economic Development Zone, which have annual capacities of 130,000 and 300,000 units, Kia will be able to produce a total of 730,000 vehicles locally in China. 5) Kia launches USD $13 Million ‘Green Light Project’ to improve social mobility of needy children Kia Motors launched Green Light Project, a global social mobility program that seek to improve the accessibility of health and education for disadvantaged youth in ailing regions back in August. The project’s official launch ceremony took place earlier this month at the future site of the Maendeleo Secondary School situated in the Madale area of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (East Africa). Kia plans to expand the Green Light Project to other countries and regions through the cooperation of its global network, and its next project will take place in the southeast African nation of Malawi. 6) World premiere of all-new Kia Carens compact MPV at Paris Motor Show The all-new Kia Carens made its grand world debut at the Paris Motor Show 2012 in September. It is a completely fresh model from the ground up, and its sleek and sculpted design marks a dramatic shift away from the more utilitarian look of its predecessor. It builds on the functionality and versatility of the original Carens, with a spacious five or five-plus-two seating layout, a generously proportioned luggage bay and numerous stowage spaces, but wraps this family-friendly adaptability in more purposeful sheet metal. 7) New Kia cee’d acclaimed for exterior and interior design at Automotive Brand Contest 2012 The new Kia cee’d – launched in June 2012 – triumphed in the exterior category and also received an honorary special mention for exceptional innovation in the interior category. The cee’d is Kia’s best-selling model in Europe, and features styling typically found on a sporty coupe, but offers the space and functionality of a five-door hatch. Kia Motors enters the ranks of InterBrand’s ‘Top 100 Best Global Brands’ Kia Motors made the exclusive list of the ‘Top 100 Best Global Brands’ according to the 2012 study released by Interbrand, the world’s largest brand consultancy agency. Kia’s remarkable increase in brand value is now estimated at $4.1 billion USD, which firmly sets the automaker at 87th place on the ‘Top 100 Best Global Brands’ list. In the list there are 12 automotive brands chosen. While the average automotive brand value growth rate is 11%, Kia made a whopping 50% increase since last year’s estimated brand value. 9) All-new third-generation Kia Cerato (Forte) premiers at Los Angeles Motor Show The silk covers were pulled off and the all-new Kia Forte (Cerato) was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It sits on an all-new chassis and is longer, wider and lower than the previous generation Forte, with more room, more performance and more premium amenities. It will be offered in LX and EX variants with a choice of an efficient 1.8-liter engine or a more powerful 2.0 liter engine. It also offers luxurious features like a ventilated driver’s seat and UVO eServices, setting a new standard for the compact segment. You can see Kia certainly had a lot going on in 2012. mijn vader heeft een Kia Sephia 1.5 GTX sedan van 1998 en sinds afgelopen week werkt de verwarming niet meer.ik heb in het zekering kastje gekeken en geen defecte zekering aangetroffen. ik kan ook geen lekkage van koelvloeistof in de auto vinden. de ventilator werkt wel normaal. en de motor draait netjes op temperatuur. dit is ook voelbaar aan de radiator.al moet ik zeggen dat voor dit probleem ontstond, had hij altijd last van beslagen ramen. ondanks het ontvetten van de ramen.misschien is het toeval. heeft er iemand tips of misschien het service handboek ? ik kan er op internet geen handboek voor vinden. New ‘dynamic muscularity’ brings emotional appeal The all-new ‘look’ of the third-generation Cerato (Forte) was created at Kia’s American Design Center in Irvine, California. The design team was directed by Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer and headed by Tom Kearns, Chief Designer, Kia Motors America. Sculpted to portray ‘dynamic muscularity’ and provoke an emotional response, the sleeker new Cerato has cab-forward styling, a lower coupe-like roofline, distinctive eye-catching concave door contours and a rising beltline with a chrome window molding extending into the C-pillar to project an aura of elegance. Moving the A-pillar forwards and the C-pillar backwards allows the addition of front and rear quarter glass panels which enhance the car’s sense of spaciousness and improve visibility by eliminating blind spots – while also adding to the car’s premium image. The Kia badge is moved from the grille to the panel in front of the shortened bonnet. At the rear, the trunk lid is shaped to reduce aerodynamic drag and the rear combination lamps smooth the airflow while also reinforcing the Cerato’s wide stance. Compared with its second-generation predecessor, new Cerato is 30 mm longer (4560 mm), 15 mm lower (1445 mm) and 5 mm wider (1780 mm). The wheelbase has been extended by 50 mm (to 2700 mm), becoming the longest in the C1 segment and is now the same as Kia’s Sorento SUV. The wheelbase of the second-generation Cerato was 40 mm greater than the original model, so over time Kia’s compact car has become a significantly larger and much more accommodating model. New Cerato’s front and rear overhangs have been reduced, by 15 mm and 5 mm respectively, to give the newcomer a truly sporty appearance. Despite the shorter rear overhang, trunk capacity is increased by 6 liters to 421 liters (SAE) – the largest in class. New Cerato’s external size and proportions, together with careful attention to surface detailing and airflow-smoothing panels beneath the car, have cut the sedan’s aerodynamic drag to Cd 0.27 (down from 0.29) and lowered the car’s aerodynamic lift – which is Cl 0.11 compared with 0.16 for the second-generation model. In Korea, the new Cerato sedan is manufactured in a range of 10 exterior colors. However, depending on local customers’ preferences the line-up of colors may vary in individual markets. Standard factory finishes for new Cerato include Clear White (solid), Snow White and Aurora Black (pearl), plus Bright Silver, Glittering Metal, Golden Beat, Temptation Red, Planet Blue, Abyss Blue and Milky Beige (metallic). Last month, Hyundai shocked the automotive world when the Korean automaker issued a recall of its fuel economy claims on several models across its lineup, including vehicles from Kia. Now there’s a suspicion that insider trading took place prior to the announcement, when the automaker’s stock fell four percent on November 1st, a day before the announcement was made. Around 2.2-million shares were traded that day, the highest volume of the year up to that point. SEE ALSO: Hyundai, Kia Admit to Overstating Gas Mileage on Most Models According to Robert Boxwell, director of Opera Advisors in Kuala Lumpur, the volume traded on November 1st was more than five standard deviations away from the daily average of 598,741 shares over the past year. It is believed that Asia Pacific’s markets are more prone to information leaks than American markets due to low enforcement rates for insider trading and breaches of disclosure rules. In fact, enforcement in some markets are essentially non-existent. Of course, when Hyundai’s shares started to fall in Korea, rumors began swirling that something was awry with its vehicles causing more concerned traders to dump their shares. Hyundai and Kia’s mpg claims were recently found to be incorrect when compared to the real world numbers, and now it seems that one of the big three American automakers may have called them out. Margo Oge, retired head of the EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality told Automotive News that a senior VP of one of the Detroit 3 called her in 2010 to accuse the Korean brands of inflating their mpg numbers. That tip lead to the investigation which caused Hyundai and Kia to initiate a payback program to customers, in order to compensate for the fuel economy errors. When each American company was asked about Oge’s claim, they all had a different answer. “It’s not us,” said Chrysler spokesman Eric Mayne. ”We don’t conduct our business in that manner,” answered GM spokeswoman Sharon Basel. Een beschadigde kat komt vaak voor door een te hoog olieverbruik en dat is wel een indicatie.er zijn drie opties:- nieuw motorblok (doet pijn)- gebruikt motorblok (weet je ook niet wat je koopt)- bestaand motorblok laten reviceren afhankelijk van de schade. Vreemd. Ik zou niet denken dat er na een beurt ineens veel meer olie zou worden verbruikt.Het kan wel zo zijn dat ze er dunnere olie in gedaan hebben zodat je verbruik stijgt, maar dan zou je normaal een lampje krijgen en dan kun je bijvullen.Rookte hij ook meer vanaf de beurt?
