Trying to keep up in the constantly changing landscape of automotive technology, Kia launched the newest version of its UVO infotainment setup, which debuted in a 2014 Kia Sorento at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show. New for 2013, UVO has adopted a telematics system called eServices, powered by a smartphone app. The app will power many of the systems functions, including voice-controlled navigation, vehicle diagnostics, 911 connect and enhanced roadside assistance. The 911 feature will alert the authorities if the airbags deploy in your vehicles, while the diagnostics will automatically search the vehicle for operating problems, and will schedule an appointment online with the nearest Kia dealership and alert the owner through their phone if one is found. The app comes at no extra cost, and will provide services like a parked vehicle locator which will direct you back to your car if you can’t find it. When the 2014 Kia Sorento goes on sale, the UVO system will only work with iPhones, but Android phones are expected to be adopted by the second quarter of 2013. Lees het hele artikel

Executive and analysts in the automotive industry believe that Hyundai and Kia may not be the only automakers recalling their fuel economy figures. At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai opened its press conference by addressing the overstatement of its vehicles fuel economy figures, and other automakers are admitting the issue has them concerned. In our last post we covered the all-new cee’d’s exterior design. Now we’re making our way inside to break down its sporty interior. Design Goal ‘Innovative with emotional appeal’ was the design goal for the cee’d with the intention of capturing the hearts of consumers. How? By creating an interior with a plethora of convenience features that are laid out both stylishly and elegantly. The inside is futuristic, dynamic and appealing with its refined scheme and sleek surfaces. Designed for Drivers This might sound like we’re stating the obvious, but the cee’d’s interior was designed with driver convenience in mind. In other words, form should follow function. The crash pad, displays and switches were all grouped and placed in a way that makes any driver feel instantly familiar with them. The crash pad and center fascia were also extended horizontally as much as possible to create a comfortable look for all passengers. The sporty cluster has a three-cylinder layout with a 7-inch LCD display that efficiently communicates information to drivers while creating a high tech image. Developed in close collaboration with our European designers, the center fascia was designed with attention given to even the smallest details such as buttons, sounds, color and even how each switches and levers feel when operated. The floor console was also designed with an asymmetrical and voluminous body to provide maximum driver convenience. Storage space was increased and an adjustable arm rest was fitted for added convenience. A voluminous door trim design was employed to convey a more luxurious expression, while other design details were redone to give a more sophisticated and organized feel. Uniquely shaped door handles, insert parts, chrome-plated garnish and numerous other design options are offered as extras in order to satisfy different tastes of drivers. The sleek seats are covered with fabrics that feature stereoscopic color mix, creating a dynamic image and yet conveying a sense of security. The high performance version cee’d comes equipped with sports car seats by Recaro with an enhanced headrest design, side cushions and surface treatment, providing exceptional support for drivers. Color Great attention was paid to the cee’d’s color schemes for maximum appeal to motorists. ‘Luxurious’ and ‘polished’ were the top priorities for the color palette. In collaboration with the European Design Center, we first analyzed the lifestyle of our target audience and current trends in Europe and then began color coordination work based on the findings. We ruled out a great many colors to narrow down our choices to those that would convey a sporty and well-appointed look. For example, a number of dark metallic blue colors were created a the sportier image and several brown colors were created for consumers who prefer a more luxurious look. Although the cee’d is a midsize car, we aimed to improve its emotional appeal so that it is on par with more expensive and larger family cars, while maintaining the charms which made the first generation cee’d so successful. Aiming for the tastes of European motorists in their 30s and 40s, the interior color scheme was selected to provide a sense of stability plus extravagance and sportiness. In the end, a black one-tone color scheme and beige one-tone color scheme were selected as the main color sets that would satisfy both practicalityand sleekness. The black color scheme was designed to create a secure and practical look to appeal to a wide spectrum of customers with a metallic touch giving it a slightly sporty feel. By contrast, the beige color scheme is warm and bright, appealing to consumers who prefer a more elegant look. The black & brown color scheme gives the cee’d’s interior a whole new look, unfound in any basic one-tone color scheme. A combination of leather and textiles were used to create a warm, natural and comfortable feel. Furthermore, we enlarged the PSM (Plasma Systems and Materials) part of the crash pad to create a more luxurious look. Black high glossy insert films were used to prevent scratches, which is an improvement over the 1st generation cee’d, and a glossy chrome coating was used for a more polished look. To coincide with the unveiling of the all-new Kia Cerato(Forte) on Wednesday at the LA Motor Show, Kia has revealed details of the version for other export markets outside of North America. This model is scheduled to go on sale during the first quarter of 2013 at Kia dealerships in many countries around the world. The third-generation Cerato boasts sleeker styling with ‘dynamic muscularity’ in a design that is longer, lower and wider than the current car, with an extended wheelbase. It also features an all-new bodyshell, upgraded equipment, a host of additional convenience and safety features, a more spacious cabin with enhanced quality, improved refinement and an upgraded powertrain line-up that delivers class-leading performance and fuel economy. Designed at Kia’s American Design Center in Irvine, California under the direction of Peter Schreyer, the new Cerato has cab-forward styling, a coupe-like roofline, distinctive concave door contours and a rising beltline with chrome molding extending into the C-pillar to project an aura of elegance. Careful attention to surface detailing and airflow-smoothing panels beneath the car have cut the sedan’s aerodynamic drag to Cd 0.27 (down from 0.29). Compared with second-generation, new Cerato is longer, lower and wider with the wheelbase extended by 50 mm to become the longest in class – now the same as Kia’s Sorento SUV. Trunk capacity is increased to 421 liters (SAE) – the largest in class. Nature’s flowing shapes inspire cabin design The interior design of new Cerato concentrates on sportiness and adopts nature’s ebbs and flows as a motif. The sweeping curve of the center stack is reinforced by carbon-look trim and for enhanced elegance, soft-touch materials are applied to the upper and center door trims, dashboard, and door armrests. Interior comfort is enhanced by lowering the cabin floor and the seats, and by fitting wider front seat cushions with an increased cushion angle for greater thigh support. A choice of black one-tone and gray two-tone cloth or leather upholstery, and two optional ‘color packs’ featuring brown and black or white and black leather, will be offered. Available options (depending on model) include 10-way powered and ventilated driver’s seat, heated front and rear seats, leather upholstery, powered glass tilt-and-slide sunroof, smart keyless entry with engine start/stop button, Xenon headlamps, Bluetooth® hands-free system with remote controls, manual and dual-zone climate control automatic air-conditioning. A smoother ride with enhanced safety While the specification of the new Cerato’s suspension is unchanged, it has been fine-tuned to improve agility, shock absorbance and refinement. The suspension’s geometry is modified to deliver improved steering feel. To maximize occupant protection the new bodyshell incorporates 63% of high-strength steel with three additional cross members and greatly strengthened B-pillars. Torsional rigidity of the bodyshell is increased improving safety, refinement, ride comfort and steering precision. Following the introduction of the all-new Cerato sedan, five-door hatchback and two-door coupe variants of the new generation model will go on sale in the second half of 2013. Kia has pulled the wraps off its 2014 Forte sedan model today at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, unveiling its highly anticipated sedan that looks to be another winner in the Korean automaker’s lineup. The new Forte gets a more “European” design and sits on an all-new chassis that is longer, wider, and lower than its predecessor. As a result, the third-generation Forte sedan will feature more room, more performance, and more luxury amenities than ever before. Offered with LX and EX variants, the Kia Forte sedan will come with either a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine with 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque or a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder with 173 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. The LX with the 1.8-liter comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission while a six-speed automatic is available as an option. The 2.0-liter equipped EX comes standard with a six-speed automatic. The all-new Forte will be slotted between the Rio sub-compact and the Optima mid-size sedan and will hit American dealerships early next year. Those considering the Forte sedan when it arrives will be get unexpected premium features in both the LX and EX model. The LX model will come standard with steering wheel-mounted controls, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth, power windows, air conditioning, and power-heated outside mirrors. An optional Popular Package equips the Forte LX with 16-inch wheels, keyless entry with remote trunk release, sliding front armrest, and cruise control. The Eco Package features the Korean automaker’s Idle Stop & Go system, dual-zone automatic temperature control with rear seat ventilation, and a unique ‘eco’ badge. As for the top-of-the-line EX, Kia’s next-generation UVO infotainment system takes center stage as standard. The new UVO can also be integrated with an optional navigation system. Also in the EX is the automaker’s new optional Flex Steer system which allows the driver to choose between Comfort, Normal, and Sport profiles. A Premium Package will outfit the Forte with heated front and rear seats, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with class-exclusive air-cooled ventilation, leather seat trim, power sunroof, 17-inch wheels, push button start with Smart Key, and a heated steering wheel. The Technology Package includes HID headlights, LED tail lights, a 4.2-inch LCD cluster screen and dual-zone automatic temperature control with rear seat ventilation. “The all-new Forte significantly raises the bar, offering upscale amenities and eye-catching appeal,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing & communications, Kia Motors America. “When you combine exclusive available features like a ventilated driver’s seat and UVO eServices in a car with such an attractive design, it’s very clear the all-new Forte sets a new standard for the compact segment.” GALLERY: 2014 Kia Forte Lees het hele artikel

At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show today, Kia unveiled its redesigned 2014 Sorento crossover, packing plenty of changes including a new 3.3-liter V6 engine. According to the Korean automaker, over 80 percent of the parts on the 2014 Sorento are either all new or significantly redesigned. It will also be the Korean automaker’s first vehicle to offer its next-generation UVO eServices voice-activated telematics system. The significantly redesigned Sorento comes just three years after production of the crossover began in America at the automaker’s plant in West Point, Georgia. It boasts an all-new chassis, a substantially redesigned interior, and the previously mentioned next-generation UVO infotainment system. The automaker also announced today that it will begin arriving showrooms in the first quarter of 2013. Coming standard on the LX V6, EX V6, SX, and SX Limited trims, the new 3.3-liter GDI V6 produces 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. The engine is also available as an option on the LX and EX trim levels. The 2014 Sorento will come in front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option through Kia’s Torque On Demand system. Standard on the LX and EX is the 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder which replaces the previous Sorento’s standard 2.4-liter MPI four-cylinder. The 2.4-liter, four-cylinder packs 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of engine, the Sorento will come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also standard in the 2014 model year is Electric Motor Driven Power Steering, which replaces the hydraulic unit found in the previous model year Sorento. FlexSteer, which offers drivers three choices of steering modes – Comfort, Normal, and Sport – is also available on the 2014 Sorento. According to Kia, the new chassis increases torsional rigidity by 18 percent to help improve ride and handling on the crossover. The redesigned front and rear bumpers enhance the Sorento’s road presence with a lower, broader appearance and a visually wider stance in the rear. The Sorento comes with a choice of 17-, 18-, or 19-inch wheels. Inside, plenty of new technology packs the Sorento’s interior including a large 7-inch TFT LCD center gauge cluster on EX trims and above. The 2014 Sorento is also the first of many Kia models to feature the Korean automaker’s blind spot detection system, which utilizes advanced sonar sensors. In closing, Kia also announced a new top-of-the-line model, the Sorento SX Limited which will hit dealerships in the second quarter of 2013. The SX Limited model will come with self-leveling Xenon HID headlights, exclusive 19-inch chrome wheels, and sporty red-painted brake calipers. Inside, Nappa-leather trimmed seats along with a wood-trimmed, heated steering wheel adds a level of luxury to the crossover. Heated rear seats are also standard on the SX Limited model. Exclusive to the SX Limited is a soft-touch headliner and pillar accents. “With each new vehicle launch Kia is advancing the concept of value to new levels of sophistication and with significant chassis, suspension, powertrain and comfort and convenience upgrades the new Sorento continues that trend,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing and communications, Kia Motors America. “With more than 80 percent of the 2014 Sorento including new or significantly redesigned parts, it’s obvious that the improvements are not just skin deep; including technological enhancements such as UVO eServices, the next generation of our voice activated telematics system, and Kia’s first-ever blind spot detection system.” GALLERY: 2014 Kia Sorento Lees het hele artikel

Kia has confirmed that a fast version of the Pro_cee’d will be coming to take on the Ford Focus ST and Volkswagen GTI, though the brand has already said that the Pro_cee’d GT is not destined for the U.S. The Pro_cee’d GT will use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine sourced from the Veloster turbo that makes 200 hp, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission according to CAR. The interior of the car will be complete with red stitching and GT badging. Other new features seen in the teaser sketch released by the brand include oversize wheels, LED running lights and a new front fascia, all giving the car a sportier look. Hallo allemaal,We zijn sinds 1,5 eigenaar van een Kia Rio jaartal 2003, 106.000 Km en nu zitten we in dubio ivm aankomende reparaties.De distributieriem Schokbrekers achterWinterbeurtEn nog een paar kleine dingetjes.Kostenplaatje is 1100,00Tevens hebben we nog een probleem met een zijruit achter die gaat niet meer automatisch naar beneden, die kosten hebben we nog niet erbij berekend.Vorige week hebben we voor 140,00 de bougies en kabels vervangen.Vorig jaar hebben we zo'n 1000,00 uitgegeven aan reparaties. Nu is mijn vraag is het nog waard om voor ruim 1100 euro hierin te investeren. Voor de rest zijn we wel tevreden met de auto, maar we zitten in dubio inruilen [we krijgen 1500 ervoor terug bij aankoop andere auto]Iemand tips, laten repareren of toch maar op zoek naar wat anders.Alvast bedanktGrJaap Lees het hele artikel
