Kia GT4 Stinger Concept Sends 315 HP to Rear Wheels

Kia just released new details on the sports car concept it will debut during the Detroit Auto Show later this month.

The concept uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to send 315 hp to the rear wheels. In a previous teaser, Kia hinted at the car’s sport capability by saying that it would deliver “superb driving enjoyment whether on the road or at the track.” The company said today that the GT4 Stinger features front brake-cooling vents, a carbon front splitter and 20-inch wheels, further emphasizing its intent toward building a sports car.

The South Korean brand promises there are even more details to come at the official January 13 unveiling, further hinting that this car is a thinly-veiled preview of Kia’s first rear-wheel drive sports car. Chances are good that those details will reveal a car based on the same underpinnings as Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe sports cars with a few changes to differentiate the products from one another. That could mean the car will come with both a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder as well as a 3.8-liter V6 with more power. In the Genesis Coupe, the 2.0-liter turbo makes 274 hp, or 31 less than Kia’s concept car.
