No matter how cold, the Kia Stinger is always hot!
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kia Buzz
What does it take to perfect a gran turismo? Kia Stinger, our highly anticipated sports sedan, is undergoing the late stages of testing before its official entrance into the markets later this year. As part of its final quality inspection, our fastback is weathering the sub-zero climate and icy roads of northern Sweden. At the testing facilities in Arjeplog, Sweden, temperatures are known to fall as low as -31°F (-35°C). Here, Kia’s team of engineers is testing the performance of the Stinger as it faces extreme climate and road conditions. Subject to snow-covered tracks and circuits situated over a frozen lake, all aspects of the Stinger’s driving systems have been evaluated under a critical eye to ensure that our newest model can be fine-tuned to perfection. Kia also invited members of the press for the occasion, providing a glimpse into the demanding testing program. Our guests took the opportunity to tour the facilities and hop aboard one of the Stinger prototypes to experience the raw power of the fastback themselves. Many marveled at the smooth performance of the Stinger as it carried passengers safely through low-grip road conditions, while others were amazed by the dynamic driving and drifting made possible by the Stinger’s rear-wheel drive configuration. Albert Biermann, Head of Vehicle Test & High Performance Developmentat Kia, poses with the Stinger The Stinger’s performance assessment in the the arctic climate is among the final stages of the model’s development. Prior to this, the Stinger had been subjected to rounds of comprehensive evaluations which included running the rigorous tracks of the legendary Nürburgring racing circuit and tearing through the untamed terrain of the Alps. These quality inspections, along with the latest tests in Sweden, will guarantee that our Stinger is ready to withstand any exposure to the extreme. Click next to see more photos of the Stinger at the Sweden testing facility With over 150 members of the engineering team dedicated to perfecting the Stinger to its highest potential, fans and customers can rest assured that our newest sedan will uphold the high standards of quality that is expected of Kia vehicles. Top 10 Best Cars of 2017: Consumer Reports
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kianieuws van Autoguide.com
Consumer Reports has revealed its list of the top 10 best cars of 2017. To be a Top Pick, a model has to have an exemplary Overall Score in its category. That score comes from Consumer Reports‘ four key pillars: road-test performance, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction and safety. Each car is also road tested and rated based on over 50 evaluations done at the publication’s 327-acre Auto Test Center, ranging from instrumented track tests to assessments of comfort and convenience while in daily use by Consumer Reports‘ staff. SEE ALSO: Top 10 Cars to Look Forward to in 2017 Reliability for each vehicle is based on actual problems reported by subscribers in the 2016 auto survey on more than half-a-million vehicles. Consumer Reports then rates owner satisfaction based on the percentage of surveyed owners who say they would definitely purchase the same car if they had to do it all over again. Lastly, all cars recommended by Consumer Reports must perform satisfactorily in accident-avoidance tests. Best Subcompact Car: Toyota Yaris iA What started out life as the Scion iA is now the Toyota Yaris iA and it claims top honors in the subcompact car category. The model is developed by Mazda and feels refined for the entry-level class, says Consumer Reports. Under the hood is a smooth and willing four-cylinder engine, paired to a slick six-speed automatic transmission and relatively compliant ride. Giving it great value is a full-featured infotainment system and standard low-speed automatic emergency braking, while its well-tuned steering and eager handling makes the Yaris iA surprisingly fun to drive. It scored 60 on the road test. Best Compact Car: Chevrolet Cruze The redesigned Chevrolet Cruze is the best compact car of 2017, beating out popular models like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. With a road-test score of 77, Consumer Reports praised the hushed, smooth-riding sedan with a roomy interior and polished four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 153 horsepower. The publication also noted it returned 47 mpg on the highway, although overall fuel economy came in at 30 mpg. Best Compact Hybrid: Toyota Prius It’s probably not a surprise to many, but the Toyota Prius has been named the best compact hybrid of 2017. Consumer Reports‘ tests returned 52 mpg overall, which is the highest it has ever recorded in a car that isn’t a plug-in hybrid. Not surprisingly, the Prius receives high marks for its reliability, something Toyota has traditionally been known for. The latest-generation model also has reduced cabin noise, improved ride comfort and more responsive handling. The Toyota Prius scored 75 on the road test. Best Sports Car: Mazda MX-5 Miata There’s a good reason automotive enthusiasts love the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Despite having modest power from its naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine, the Miata is a complete blast to drive with its lightweight design and balance. “The Miata truly comes alive on winding roads, with immediate steering response and a handling balance that will make you grin,” said Consumer Reports. Along with a road test score of 80, the Miata returned 34 mpg overall. Best Midsize Sedan: Kia Optima This year’s best midsize sedan isn’t the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry, both extremely popular models in the segment. Instead, it’s the Kia Optima taking the prize. Consumer Reports attributed its win to the Optima’s responsive handling, a steady ride and pleasant powertrain, short stopping distances, easy-to-use controls and a roomy backseat. Its road test score is impressive at 86 and Kia’s outstanding reliability and extensive warranty coverage makes the Optima a real contender in a segment that was previously dominated by Japanese automakers. Best Large Sedan: Chevrolet Impala When it comes to traditional cars, the Chevrolet Impala scored highest on Consumer Reports’ road test, earning a score of 91. Roomy, supportive seats greet driver and passengers along with intuitive controls and ample truck. And despite its size, the Impala’s handling is responsive and secure, while road imperfections are effectively absorbed to give a ride you’d expect from a more expensive luxury sedan. Best Small SUV: Subaru Forester Consumer Reports’ says the Subaru Forester sets the standard for small SUVs, thanks to its relatively roomy packaging, fuel efficiency, solid reliability and easy access. Helping maximize interior space is its boxy shape and large windows, while secure handling and supple ride add to the Forester’s appeal. Fuel economy is excellent for the segment, returning 26 mpg overall and Subaru is known for its safety technology, especially with EyeSight. Best Midsize SUV: Toyota Highlander Toyota continues taking top honors in several segments with the Highlander. Sporting a road test score of 84, the Highlander receives high marks due to its good performance, fuel economy (20 mpg overall), long-term reliability, all-weather traction, three-row seating, generous cargo space and the capability of light towing. The model was recently updated for the 2017 model year, adding 25 more horsepower to its engine output and advanced safety equipment as standard. Best Luxury SUV: Audi Q7 The highest-scoring vehicle on Consumer Reports‘ road test is the Audi Q7, earning a score of 96. The seven-passenger SUV is the highest-rated SUV Consumer Reports recently tested, feeling more like a luxury sedan than an SUV. The cabin is quiet and has all the luxury amenities you would expect from Audi, with premium trimmings and road-trip-friendly seats. And despite its size, the Audi Q7 is quite agile, with excellent brakes to bring it to a stop. Best Compact Pickup: Honda Ridgeline Honda took its time revamping the Ridgeline and it has paid off. Driving more like a sedan than a rugged pickup, the Ridgeline scored 80 on the road test while returning 20 mpg overall. Consumer Reports says the Ridgeline “handles far better than any compact or full-sized pickup, and it shames all non-diesel trucks for fuel economy.” The post Top 10 Best Cars of 2017: Consumer Reports appeared first on AutoGuide.com News. Wheels are like shoes for your car, serving as much as a stylish statement as they do a functional piece of equipment to take you places. Understandably, when it comes to picking out a car, wheels are one of the aspects that are of great interest to customers. Steel and alloy wheels are the two most common types of wheel used in cars, and Kia offers its customers a wide variety of options to choose from. Read on to find out which type is best for you! Alloy Wheels Alloy wheels, also known as aluminum alloy wheels, are now standard on most cars in the automobile market. Alloy wheels are lightweight and more pliable which makes for more agile performance on the road. Lighter wheels mean that in the long run, they offer better fuel economy. Another advantage of alloy wheels is cosmetic. The way that the alloy wheels are cast makes it easy to forge them into intricate customized designs. Paired with different finishes – painted, polished or chromed – alloy wheels can be a stylistic point that boosts a car’s aesthetic appeal. Steel Wheels Steel wheels, composed of iron and carbon, are tough and durable, making them a suitable choice for heavy duty or off-road vehicles. While steel wheels place little emphasis on style, they produce a heavier grip, which makes them an ideal choice for travelling through rough roads and winter climates. Thanks to their solidity, steel wheels are more immune to damage and easier to repair. Given their purely utilitarian function, steel wheels share a simple and uniform look across the board and therefore are a more affordable option. When it comes to choosing among wheel options, drivers may want to think about their daily driving patterns and preferences. If you are looking for a flashy, highly responsive and easily accelerating ride, go with alloys. If you prefer a rugged and powerful no-nonsense driving experience, stick with steel wheels. No matter which one you choose, just remember that Kia has you covered! Lees volledige artikel

This may be one of Carens’ most desirable features, especially if children are on board. Poll: Kia Niro or Ford C-Max Hybrid?
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kianieuws van Autoguide.com
Which fuel-sipping people-hauler would YOU rather live with, the new Kia Niro or Ford’s older C-Max? Both of these crossover-esque offerings are impressively economical, sipping fuel while driving around town or bombing down the interstate, but one is significantly thriftier than the other. Age before beauty, we start with the Ford. Introduced several years ago, the C-Max features a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine that delivers 141 horses on its own. Teamed with a permanent-magnet AC synchronous motor and a 1.4-kWh lithium-ion battery, total system power measures 188 ponies. An electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) changes ratios and maximizes efficiency. The C-Max’s top speed while running solely on electrons is 62 miles an hour. As for fuel economy, Dearborn’s offering stickers at 42 miles per gallon city, 38 highway and 40 MPG combined. On their own these figures are nothing to scoff at, until you see how efficient the Kia is. Under its hood, the Niro features a drivetrain that’s similar to the Ford’s, though some things are dissimilar. For starters, its internal-combustion engine displaces just 1.6-liters and delivers 104 horsepower. Also, instead of a CVT this Kia uses a more traditional stepped-gear transmission, a dual-clutch unit with six ratios. The Niro battery is also of the lithium-ion variety, though it’s slightly larger than the C-Max’s, measuring 1.56 kWh. Thanks to all this advanced technology, the Kia is supremely efficient. According to the EPA, it should deliver 51 miles per gallon in city driving and a whopping 46 on the highway. Combined, it averages a claimed 49 MPG. These figures are significantly better than what the Ford can muster, despite the fact that the Niro has a longer wheelbase and slightly more overall cargo space (54.5 cubic feet vs. 52.6). Of course, having to haul around 534 fewer pounds also helps. That’s a quick look at the Ford C-Max and Kia Niro. Which one would YOU rather own? Well, if necessary you can do more research here. And don’t forget to vote in our poll! Please? Seriously, just click on one of the vehicle images below… The post Poll: Kia Niro or Ford C-Max Hybrid? appeared first on AutoGuide.com News. When the temperature drops and the weather turns frigid, warming up your car can be a bit of a nuisance. Fortunately, here at Kia, we have meticulously prepared our vehicles (both inside and out!) to protect drivers from the harsh winter months. With great weather-repelling features to help combat the icy temperatures, Kia has certainly got your back when it comes to winter driving. Learn more about how you can stay warm with Kia this winter! On top of the usual features that make for an enjoyable ride – ergonomic seats, spaciousness and driving stability – Kia has added sensible touches that provide extra comfort during extreme weather conditions. Many of our models come equipped with heated seats for occupants to adjust to their comfort levels. Thanks to the newest technology, Kia’s seat heating mechanisms now take a very short amount of time to warm up, distributing heat evenly throughout the seat cushion and back. Meanwhile, the anti-bacterial and ventilating properties of the seat upholstery are an added bonus. Heated seats can be used for other purposes than keeping passengers snug and toasty during their drive. Switching on the seat warmers for a few minutes before getting in your car allows time for the windows to de-ice and the cabin to get cozy and warm – a method far more efficient and economic than blasting you heater and leaving your car to idle. The heated steering wheel is another top quality cold weather feature for comfortable driving. The function comes in handy during the cold winter months when handling the steering wheel can feel like gripping a frozen ice stick. The technology works fast, allowing drivers to safely navigate their cars on the road without the use of gloves. Many car owners insist that this is their go-to feature during winter months; the allure of a warm steering wheel is tough to give up once you’ve tried it out. This is not to say that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a vehicle is not important. In fact, the two features mentioned above work in great synergy with a car’s central heating, keeping passengers comfortable and warm while slowing the buildup of stuffy and dry air that can occur from cranking up the heater alone. Whether you love or hate the wintertime, Kia is always here to make sure that drivers and passengers are ready for the freezing temperatures when winter arrives. What is your favorite feature on your Kia to fight the cold winter months? Tell us in the comments below! Lees volledige artikel

Update , Kia Ceed tikken motor. Graag advies Mvg Peter Lees volledige artikel

In 1974, Kia assembled its very first passenger car – the Brisa – at the Sohari production plant. As country’s very first fully-integrated automobile manufacturing plant, our facilities at Sohari came to be known as the birthplace of the Korean automobile industry. Starting from these humble beginnings, Kia now produces more than 3 million cars every year at 14 manufacturing operations in 5 countries. Pretty incredible, right? Let’s learn more about Kia’s vast network of major factories around the world. The Beginnings – Korea The Sohari Plant in the 1970s Sohari, Kia Motors’ first production plant, was completed in 1973. Our first passenger car, the Kia Brisa, was manufactured here, along with other historic vehicles such as the Bongo and the Pride. The Sohari plant continues to be a major production site for Kia, manufacturing about 320,000 units annually, including models like the Rio, Quoris (K900) and Grand Carnival. Kia Brisa circa 1974 The home ground expansion continued as Kia established two more factories – the Hwaseong plant and the Gwangju plant, founded in 1989 and 1998, respectively. The Hwaseong plant is strategically located on the coast to boost exports. Numerous vehicles, such as the Cerato, Optima, Cadenza, and Niro, are assembled in Hwaseong, while a diverse lineup of Kia vehicles is manufactured at the Gwangju plant, including the iconic Soul, Carens and Sportage First Foray Abroad – China Kia Cerato in production at Yancheng Kia expanded into China in 2002 and the established the second Yancheng plant in 2007. Covering 1,000,000 m2, the plant is one of the biggest Kia factories in the world and is now capable of producing 890,000 units consisting of 9 different models each year. In addition, the Yancheng plant has created more than 6,000 jobs for the local community, aiding in the sustained growth of the region. Platform for Expansion in Europe In 2006, we branched out to Slovakia in Europe to establish the Zilina manufacturing plant. The plant is responsible for production of stylish European exclusive models such as the cee’d family and the Venga. The Zilina plant has served as an outstanding platform for Kia’s rise in Europe and celebrated its 10th anniversary last December. The American Dream KMMG employees gather to celebrate the 2017 Super Bowl This expansion in overseas production did not stop in Europe. In 2006, Kia opened Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) in the United States. The plant is capable of manufacturing about 340,000 units annually and employs more than 3,000 people, making huge contributions to the development of the economy and the auto industry in region. In December 2016, the Georgia plant was recognized as the Georgia Automotive Company of the Year and Georgia Automotive Leader of the Year by the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Newest Addition Our newest manufacturing plant opened its doors in Pesqueria, Mexico in September of 2016. Equipped with state-of-the-art eco-technology, Kia’s Mexico plant has already had a substantial positive impact on the country in more ways than one. Adhering to the highest environmental standards, the facility boasts an annual production capacity of 300,000 units while providing significant employment and easing the brand’s carbon footprint in the region. Take a 360-degree tour of the factory in the videos below! Kia has come a long way since the first Brisa model rolled out of the Sohari plant. We started from humble beginnings, but today we compete as one of the biggest automobile companies in the world and we don’t intend to stop anytime soon. Let the journey continue! The first thing you notice about the all-new Kia Rio is its distinctive and attractive coupe-style exterior. But the Rio is so much more than just ‘pretty’. The fourth-generation Rio is bolder and savvier than its predecessor, making it a mature and striking addition to the already popular subcompact segment. With the European retail launch of this hot new competitor coming soon, Kia hosted test drive event for European media last week. Taking place at the Penha Longo Resort nestled in the spectacular Sintra-Cascais Natural Park of Portugal, influential members of the media all across Europe were invited to test drive the newest generation of one of our best-selling models amidst breathtaking scenic views. Nearly 500 members of the press from 22 countries across Europe gathered in Lisbon to participate in the two-day event to experience the all-new Rio first hand. Starting with an introductory test drive from the airport to the resort, guests were treated to a comprehensive walkthrough to learn about the all-new Rio. Kia also provided ‘Experience Zones’ to test out new technical features of the product as well as press conferences to present and discuss the models in detail. To add to the experience, guests ended the night with a cocktail reception followed by a dinner banquet. Because the outgoing third generation Rio sold in record numbers, Kia faced a real challenge when it came to developing this next generation model. The media event proved that Kia’s efforts were not in vain as participating journalists had wonderful things to say about our best-selling subcompact. The majority of the praises was directed towards the overall sophistication and increased capability of the vehicle. Members of the media commented on how much they enjoyed the “timeless design” and “strong sense of dynamism and sportiness” of the model’s aesthetics. The ride experience itself was described as “refined and elastic,” and providing “remarkable driving comfort.” Storage capacity and convenience were also indicated as big plus factors. In addition to the stream of praises from the media, the all-new Rio was also recently bestowed a 2017 iF Design Award for outstanding design. We are absolutely thrilled by the sheer outpouring of positive reactions for our beloved subcompact model. With the upcoming market launch, we are now looking forward to our customers testing out the Rio! Lees volledige artikel
