  3. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] Kia took to the stage at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce the new 2017 Sportage. The fourth-generation Sportage has an all-new look and is slightly longer than today’s model, though width remains the same. Improved aerodynamics are a result of the fresh styling and new proportions, bringing the drag coefficient from 0.35 to 0.33 Cd, while passengers also benefit thanks to more legroom and headroom. A range of engines are available including a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter direct-injection four-cylinder along with a turbocharged version of this same engine that is available exclusively with the Sportage R-Line model. A 2.0-liter turbo diesel will also be available, but U.S. availability remains unclear. Buyers who opt for the 1.6-liter turbo get Kia’s new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This powertrain is likely for the U.S. market thanks to its combination of power and fuel efficiency. SEE ALSO: 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Coverage Kia says that the noise, vibration and harshness of the Sportage has been vastly improved, complementing the crossover’s redesigned interior. Soft-touch materials are found throughout the cabin along with high-quality leather with contract stitching. The previously mentioned R-Line Sportage is new for this year and its meant to accent the crossover’s sporty side. Not only do you get a turbocharged engine, it also comes with a D-shaped steering wheel, aluminum alloy pedals, larger 19-inch wheels, dual-exhaust, a metal rear diffuser and some other exterior accents to help it stand out. Like with most new cars, safety equipment is not in short supply, with the Sportage featuring autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, high-beam assist, speed limit information, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert. The new 2017 Kia Sportage goes on sale across Europe in the spring of 2016. U.S. availability has not yet been revealed. 7. We are proud to announce that Kia Motors Russia surpassed 1,000,000 sales in less than 6 years of operations! Thanks to our Russian customers’ continued support and the devotion of all our employees, Kia’s market share in Russia now accounts for 10%, more than double that in 2009. The 1 millionth Kia to be sold in Russia was none other than the much beloved Rio sedan, the most popular Kia model in Russia. Mr. Ivan Lobanov, winner of the lucky customer campaign, chose another Rio for his giveaway vehicle, saying that both its quality and design are beyond satisfactory. Mr. Lobanov was also pleasantly surprised with the free tickets to the UEFA Euro 2016 preliminary match between Russia and Sweden to be sponsored by Kia Motors, an official sponsor of FIFA and UEFA. Since 2009, Kia has been striving to provide the best quality vehicles at reasonable prices to Russian customers. 10. Silence isn’t golden. While car manufacturers have been focusing on producing quiet cars for a long time, they are now looking into making cars with “just the right amount of sound”. And in that respect, Kia’s NVH technology keeps on making progress. Did you know a car is typically composed of over 30,000 parts? The intricate network of components that go into a car, including the engine and chassis, generates noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), which altogether largely affect the driving sensation. At Kia, we have specialized R&D units such as our NVH2 Research Lab and Noise Vibration Development Team dedicated to minimizing uncomfortable noise and maximizing harmonious sounds with state-of-the-art sound technology. Here are two examples of such efforts. Active Noise Control (ANC) Just like how colors create new shades when blended, sounds also transform into new types of sounds when mixed together. Automatic active noise control technology effectively offsets unpleasant noises by sending out counter-waves after analyzing the wavelengths of internal noises. By adopting this advanced technology, we were able to decrease the number of noise prevention parts in many of our Kia models, which in turn contributes to weight reduction and improved fuel efficiency. Active Sound Design (ASD) Kia recently became the first in Korea to develop Active Sound Design, which enables drivers to select engine sound styles. ASD creates customized engine sounds by utilizing a build-in sound controller. Owners can choose from diverse sound settings, including regular, sporty, and quiet to enjoy a more personalized driving experience. Stay tuned for more of Kia’s efforts to make better cars with optimized sound experiences! Lees hele artikel
  11. Recently, Kia conducted a new type of vehicle crash test on its stylish minivan, the Grand Carnival (Sedona), which received the maximum 5-star safety rating from NHTSA. Instead of a traditional crash test against a stationary wall, we went vertical, reproducing the test by dropping the car from up high! Watch as the Grand Carnival gets dropped 12.6 meters, which results in the exact same impact as a standard 56 km/h crash test. With a rigid body structure composed of 52 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), Kia Grand Carnival ensures the maximum level of safety for drivers and their families, even during extreme situations. 12. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The interior of the new 2017 Kia Sportage has been revealed. Ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in less than two weeks, Kia has released more information on the fourth-generation crossover with the new interior sporting better materials and a focus on practicality. A wide range of technologies aim to improve comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety on the Sportage. According to the Korean automaker, the all-new interior is one of the most significant improvements made over the previous-generation Sportage. The design team focused on creating a cabin with a wide, driver-oriented dash but with a simple, modern design. By blending metalwork with soft materials, the interior features clearly defined horizontal lines. The Sportage also gets a more upscale looking steering wheel and a cleaner infotainment setup. SEE ALSO: Get a Better Look at the 2017 Kia Sportage Greater soundproofing has been added to the 2017 Kia Sportage to help make the cabin quieter. 15. Now that we know about the exterior of the all-new Sportage, it’s time for the interior and more details. Its all-new interior represents one of the most significant improvements over the third-generation car, with greater use of soft-touch materials and a driver-oriented dashboard. Here we provide an all-around overview of the next-generation Sportage. Modern layout and greater refinement Inside the car, the high quality materials and the clean lines of the modern layout are immediately apparent. Kia designers have applied a far greater proportion of cloth, leather and stitching to the all-new Sportage interior, creating a more luxurious ambience. The new cabin features clearly-defined horizontal lines that emphasize the space and sportiness of the interior. The lateral design of the dashboard is composed of two different zones – display and control. The upper display zone focuses on delivering information through a user-friendly interface, and the control zone provides many functions on the optional touchscreen infotainment and navigation system in a highly ergonomic layout. Owners will be given a variety of color options: either a black single-tone or two-tone cabin, including Dark and Light Grey or Black and Canyon Beige. New ‘GT Line’ specification For the first time, a new ‘GT Line’ specification is available to Sportage customers. For those looking for a sportier driving experience, it will feature greater visual and dynamic appeal, on top of the versatility of the standard Sportage. Greater space The fourth-generation will be the most practical Sportage yet thanks to the increased exterior and interior dimensions. Most significantly, its wheelbase has been increased by 30 mm to 2,670 mm. The whole vehicle, at 4,480 mm, is now 40 mm longer. The height and width will remain the same as the current model. The larger dimensions mean an increase in cargo space, from 465 liters to 503 liters. With front and all-wheel drive options available, the all-new Sportage is equipped with its best suspension and steering ever. Many of the engines are carried over from the outgoing model, but with improved fuel efficiency, NVH and power delivery. Now all eyes are on the all-new Kia Sportage and its global debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on September 15, 2015! Editor’s note: All product features, specifications, powertrains, trim levels and standard/optional equipment refer to the all-new Sportage to be marketed in Western Europe. Detailed product information for other regions will be released at a later date. Lees hele artikel

  21. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] Although the 2017 Kia Sportage has been officially unveiled, the Korean automaker only shared three photos of the new crossover. Thankfully, AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have caught the new Kia Sportage driving on public roadways fully exposed, giving us a better look ahead of the vehicle’s public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Sporting a whole new bold look, the Sportage is designed by Kia’s European studio in Frankfurt, Germany, with input from the automaker’s Korean and U.S. design centers. It’s been heavily inspired by the Provo concept, especially at the rear of the crossover with angular tail lights and chrome accents. 23. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The next-generation 2017 Kia Sportage is coming to Frankfurt with a whole new look. Unlike other automakers that like to slowly tease what their new car will look like, Kia dropped these three images on us, showing off just how different its upcoming compact crossover will look. Designed by Kia’s European design studio in Frankfurt, Germany, with input from the brand’s Korean and U.S. design centers, the new crossover sports a design that’s reminiscent of the old Provo concept. You can really see that at the rear end of the vehicle, with the angular tail lights, chrome strip and lower reverse lights. SEE ALSO: 2016 Kia Sorento Limited V6 Review Other elements of the vehicle are inspired by fighter jets, helping to give the crossover a powerful and agile appearance. The most noteworthy design cues include the new headlights that are no longer integrated with the vehicle’s grille, which has also been updated to be wider and lower. From the side, the Sportage retains its sleek, raked profile. The crossover will debut at the Frankfurt motor show, where we’ll learn more about the powertrain, features and interior design of the car. Expect a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood, hooked up to a dual-clutch transmission borrowed from the Hyundai Tucson Discuss this story at our Kia Sportage Forum The post 2017 Kia Sportage Revealed Ahead of Frankfurt Debut appeared first on AutoGuide.com News. 24. With the release of the first official renderings last week, the long-awaited, bold and powerful fourth-generation Sportage appears to be living up to everyone’s expectations. Led by Kia’s European design studio in Frankfurt with input from Kia’s regional design centers, this newest Kia CUV boasts a harmonious package composed of sharp, defining lines and smooth surfacing. Today, we present the first official photos of the new Sportage’s progressive and attractive exterior from every angle. The ‘face’ is perhaps the part that went through the biggest change on the upgraded model. Its headlamps are no longer integrated with the grille; instead, they sweep back along the outer edges of the more sharply-detailed bonnet and bolder wheel arches. The Sportage’s lower, wider ‘tiger-nose’ grille, immediately shouts out Kia’s design identity and contributes to a more imposing appearance. The smooth and slim streamlined bodywork of the Sportage’s side gives it a more dynamic look. It keeps the outgoing model’s swept-back silhouette but has a roofline that tapers slightly towards the rear as well as longer front overhangs and wheelbase. At the rear of the car, you can see the sophisticated design that was inspired by the 2013 Kia Provo concept car. The horizontal forms and surface volume add greater stability, and the separated turn signals and reversing lights add more visual weight to this masculine and sporty model. Now that you know what our next-generation Sportage looks like, keep a close eye on its upcoming global debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on September 15! Lees hele artikel
