Color is an important part of car design. It virtually dictates the first impression. At Kia, we operate a variety of specialized teams to satisfy consumers’ increasingly demanding standards, and one of those teams is the Kia Color Team. As its name suggests, the Kia Color Team researches market trends and customer feedback related to product colors and helps in making our new generation of products the most compelling choice for customers. Today, meet Ms. Seung Ah Lee, a senior research engineer of the Kia Color Team as she explains the colors of the all-new Optima, the fourth generation of our popular midsize sedan. Q: What are the key responsibilities of the color team? Lee: We are in charge of everything related to the interior and exterior colors of Kia cars. We take on various roles in the development of vehicles, from formulating initial vehicle concepts, proposing color options based on customer research, new technologies and trends and overseeing the production of selected colors. And I am proud to have been closely involved in the all-new Optima project. Q: Can you introduce some of the trends in automobile colors these days? Lee: The biggest recent development in terms of interior color is the use of environmentally-friendly materials. Global customers not only care about the environment in general, but also consider eco-friendly materials to be more advanced and sophisticated, and are willing to pay more for them. The all-new Optima reflects this green trend in coloring as seen by a thin-film aluminum material that has been applied to the console upper cover. The new Optima is the first car in the world to adopt this material, which significantly reduces vehicle weight while remaining stylish and luxurious by giving an aluminum-like feel to the exterior. Q: What are the vehicle’s signature colors? Any interesting behind-the-scenes story when it comes to their naming? Lee: We named each shade after planets to give the colors a high-tech, futuristic and dignified touch. Similarly, GRAVITY BLUE, our pick for the Sporty Style (SX) trim in Korea, is a refined shade of dark blue that resembles the depth and firmness of the Earth’s surface. With soft metallic particles, it reflects a contemporary and cool image. Inspired by the brownish hue of a planetary surface, PLUTO BROWN is a sophisticated and calming shade of dark brown. Its trendy brown base harmoniously blends with the new aluminum coloring pigment, giving it a shimmering finish. PLUTO BROWN will be applied to Optima’s brown leather seats and doors. Q: What are the main characteristics of the all-new Optima’s interior color options? Lee: There are three main interior colors for Kia’s export models: black, black-beige, and dark grey. For the GT and GT Line trims (new trim designations for some overseas markets), a wide range of distinguished coloring strategies were applied to add a sporty and luxurious sensation. Red leather was utilized for seats, doors and consoles. Enkele maanden geleden heb ik een kia ceed 1.4 gekocht.Het viel me eigenlijk direct op dat je bij stationair de motor licht voelt trillen, dit voel je in de stoel,stuur, armsteun enz.Volgens de dealer waren het de motorsteunen maar was het te weinig om te repareren.Sinds vorige week voel ik nu ook een trilling als je stilstaand de motor op 2200 toeren zet, daar onder en daar boven is het weg.Ik ben terug geweest en nu heeft met een flesje injectiereiniger er in gegooid omdat men denkt dat de injectoren vuil zijn en dat daardoor ook de trilling bij stationair komt.Ik ben absoluut niet technisch op auto gebied maar vraag me af of iemand dit leest die dit zelf ook aan de hand gehad heeft en waarbij de oplossing gevonden is.Ik heb inmiddels 150 km gereden met de vloeistof in een halve tank brandstof maar merk nog geen verschil. Even voor stellen ik ben Arnold uit Rotterdam met een Kia Picanto 1.0 uit 2006 met 80.000 km Ik ben nieuw hier en vind dit een geweldige site.Probleem 1, Auto gekocht in Juli van tweede eigenaar die hem 5 jaar heeft gehad, wat een oplichter is dat. Had verteld dat hij alle 4 de remklauwen en blokken had laten vervangen (900) en dat de auto in orde was, bij vertrek begint hij gelijk vast te staan alle vier de wielen en worden bloed heet. Auto bij de garage gebracht die de remklauwen had vervangen en deze deelde mede dat waarschijnlijk de hoofdremcillinder kapot is, dit doet zich vooral voor bij warm weer! Daarom mocht ik alleen in de avond proefrijden!! Kan volgens de dealer ook nog het ABS systeem zijn.Heeft iemand hier ervaring mee, schijnt meer voor te komen?Ik zoek nog een oplossing hiervoor anders vervang ik voor niks de hoofdremcillinder.Probleem 2, Accu was in 2 dagen leeg, opladen erin zetten, polen los, 4 weken op vakantie polen aansluiten en gewoon starten. twee dagen later accu leeg! Ga ik meten 0.7A verbruikt hij bij alles uit! gele stekker uit zekeringen kast losgemaakt met 2 zekeringen (10A en 15A), probleem weg 0,01A! deze zijn van de radio en binnenverlichting. zekering van de radio terug gedaan blijft 0,01A. The 2017 Kia Sportage will make its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Giving a sneak preview of its next-generation crossover, Kia has released some teaser sketches of the new Sportage while confirming that it’ll bow September 15 in Germany. Entering its fourth-generation, the all-new Sportage will have a bold, progressive design according to Kia. A large explosion in China has claimed at least 50 lives and over 8,000 vehicles have been destroyed as a result. Currently it’s still unclear what caused the explosions, which injured over 700 people. According to a recent report, around 4,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles were destroyed in the disaster, as well as 2,750 Volkswagens and 1,500 Renaults. Toyota also confirmed to Automotive News that it lost vehicles but currently doesn’t have a count. Volkswagen released a statement concerning the terrible accident, confirming that none of the vehicles involved will ever make it to market. Toyota added that two employees at a nearby dealership were injured by broken glass but suffered no employee fatalities. Both General Motors and Ford reported no damages. Tianjin is one of China’s biggest automobile shipping ports and is the 10th largest port in the world. The city has over 15-million people and is located about 75 miles from Beijing. Make sure your spare tire is serviceable and be prepared for bad weather. If you plan on traveling with a child, double-check the car seat condition. Pack emergency items You never know what may happen during a long, tiring drive. Pack some basic first-aid items, wet wipes, tissues and thin blankets to prepare for any type of emergency or even small mishaps. After all, finding a rest stop or a gas station to buy such items may be harder than you think. Get sufficient sleep Lack of sleep is more dangerous than commonly believed; it can impair the brain as much as alcohol can. Sleep-deprived driving is one of the major causes of deadly car accidents. If you are planning on driving for long hours on-end, getting enough sleep the day before is a must. Plan your route Heading off to somewhere far away without a plan can be dangerous. Research your routes and check for local events and landmarks that you may want to stop and experience. Plan ahead according to your driving route and make sure that your schedule is flexible enough to accommodate the unexpected. Take coffee breaks Driving for hours without stopping can be very tiring. Whenever you feel fatigued, stop the car for a minute and get a nice cup of coffee to clear your head. Get out, breathe in some fresh air and stretch your legs to recharge yourself before getting back on the road. If you need to, take a quick nap in a safe parking location. Prepare healthy snacks Take some bite-sized snacks that you can munch on during your ride. Dried berries, fruit jelly or trail mix can be good choices since they are light on sugar and salt. Hyundai and Kia plan to launch seven new electrified vehicles by 2017. Hyundai will have a total of five electrified vehicles in its lineup by model year 2018: Sonata hybrid, Sonata plug-in hybrid, a dedicated hybrid, a dedicated electric vehicle and the Tucson Hydrogen Fuel Cell. Meanwhile, sibling brand Kia will have four electrified vehicles in its lineup by model year 2018: Kia Optima hybrid, Kia Optima plug-in hybrid, Kia Soul EV and a dedicated Kia hybrid. Between model year 2016 and 2018, a total of four hybrids, two plug-in hybrids and an electric car will launch in the U.S. from the two Korean brands with the first dedicated hybrid debuting as a 2017 model. Powering those hybrids will be a direct-injected 1.6-liter gasoline engine paired to an electric motor. As the spy photos have shown, the Hyundai and Kia models will be quite different in design with the Kia model sporting a hatchback shape heavily inspired by crossover design. Hyundai’s dedicated hybrid appears to look more like a liftback sedan, similar to the Chevrolet Volt. On the EV front, Hyundai will use the same hybrid platform for a dedicated EV, while Kia has no plans of expanding its electric vehicle offerings beyond the current Kia Soul EV. Maybe you’re tired of Kia‘s constant teasing with its sporty concepts, but there are rumblings that an actual sports car from the Korean automaker is on the way. According to AutoCar, Kia’s U.K. boss Paul Philpott dropped a few hints that an affordable sports car is on the way before the end of the decade. The best guess is that this car would be based on the GT4 Stinger Concept that was first shown off at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The sports car wouldn’t be based on any other Kia product, and would be aimed directly at the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. Furthermore, it had rear seats, suggesting that the car would be more practical than cars like the Nissan 370Z. Finally, unlike the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the GT4 Stinger used an independent double wishbone suspension, which underlines Kia’s commitment to building something new and unique.
