Following its debut earlier this year at the Salon International de l’Automobile in Geneva (Geneva Motor Show), the enhanced Kia Picanto is now available in Europe. With a blend of modern and distinctive exterior styling and a trendy interior, the improved Picanto has gone through an impressive make-over from the previous version. In addition to its stylish design transformation, Kia’s signature city car now boasts cutting-edge safety features and an advanced powertrain that are unique in the city car segment. Refined inside and out for your customized taste Picanto has been upgraded both inside and out to provide premium ‘big car’ comfort to economical motorists. Some of the most noticeable updates are seen on the redesigned front and rear bumpers and on Kia’s hallmark ‘tiger-nose’ grille. To top it off, Kia offers a wider range of design customization options, including a new 14-inch alloy wheel design and an optional sport pack. So, now let us take a closer look at the enhanced Kia Picanto’s interior. In a nutshell, its bold details are definitely eye-catching. New chrome accents surround the driver’s instrument binnacle and dashboard air vents and a new cloth upholstery pattern has been added to boost its sporty feel. In addition, the enhanced model now offers three interior color packs – red, yellow, and brown – offering room for further customization. Premium features and engines for ultimate safety and performance A range of optional premium features have been added to the Kia Picanto for the first time, including the latest generation of Kia’s AVN (audio-video navigation) system with a 7.0-inch display screen (available from Q3). Cruise control and a speed limiter system will also improve long distance comfort for the driver. For better safety, Picanto’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) reduces skidding and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) increases stability to complete the premium feature list. Fully fitted with twin front, side and curtain airbags, front seatbelt height adjusters and impact sensing auto door unlocking, Kia Picanto provides superb safety and security features for customers. Small details like its front brakes which have been enlarged to 252 mm from 241 mm make miles of difference in terms of safety as you can bring Picanto to a complete stop from 100km/h in just 37 meters. While the engine options are consistent with previous version, its 1.0-litre MPI (Multi-Point Injection) engine underwent some modifications to comply with stringent Euro 6 emissions standards. Over the weekend, the Kia World Extreme Games, the world’s most prestigious extreme sports competition, was held in Shanghai, China for the ninth time. Attended by some 215 extreme sports athletes from 38 countries, Kia World Extreme Games 2015 was staged in front of the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and at the KIC Jiangwan Sports Centre, attracting an unprecedented level of attention from Shanghai citizens. Contestants competed in a number of categories, including BMX, skateboarding, speed climbing, and International Freestyle Motocross (FMX). Big names in the extreme sports scene, including Trey Wood, Jimmy Wilkins and Filipe Gustavo, were all there to compete, and Vince Bryon once again proved to be at the top of his game by winning the BMX Vert championship.
