The Kia Sorento was awarded the most coveted title of Public Car of the Year at the 2015 Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY) Awards. After receiving the highest number of votes among 48 nominated vehicles, the all-new Sorento emerged the winner of the highest recognition. In honor of this achievement, Mr. Alex Chung, the President of Kia Motors Middle East and Africa Regional Headquarters said, “The people have spoken! Komop ik maak ook eens een probleem aan :-)Een Sorento uit 2005 geeft zonder aanjager een warm stroompje lucht enmet koelt de luchtstroom meteen af. Temperatuur is in te stellen en lijkt(moeilijker vast te stellen zonder echte uitstroom) wel tussen niet warmen warm te regelen, maar warm worden in de auto zit er niet in.Zonder al iets bekeken te hebben bij deze de vraag of er iets bekend isbij deze modellen m.b.t. verstopte kachelradiateur, gebroken tandwielen/assen van kachelklepflappen, aansturingsmodules die de geest geven etc.. A custom Kia Optima with its top sliced off will make its debut at the 2015 SEMA Show. Called the A1A Optima, this custom sedan draws inspiration from the iconic Florida A1A highway and soaks in the sunshine with a convertible design featuring room for four. The Korean automaker had reinforced steel tubes hidden within the body to retain a rigid structure with the top cut off while the windshield has also been shortened to fit the design. The back doors of the Optima are now on rear-mounted hinges, opening in an opposite direction than a standard Optima. SEE ALSO: 2016 Kia Optima Review Lowering the Kia Optima is a set of Ksport coilover suspension while 20-inch wheels round off each corner in a bright, chrome finish. Inside are soft butter-cream leather bucket seats while the rear has also received custom double buckets that have been separated by an extended armrest and custom center console. Under the hood is the factory 245-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that breathes a little bit easier with a high-performance exhaust. Diesel – Powerful and enduring Diesel fuel delivers great fuel economy and mileage as it is one of the most energy dense fuels available. The engine itself also boasts a lengthy lifespan as the parts are built to withstand the high compressions and forces required when burning diesel fuel. Diesel engines can also run for longer distances without needing a break. Although sturdy and long lasting, diesel engines are heavier and require frequent use and maintenance in order to stay in top condition. In addition, the cost of diesel has risen substantially over the years due to increasing demand. While prices may be volatile, diesel currently costs more than petrol. Petrol – Swift and easy going Compared to its diesel counterparts, petrol engines are far quieter and more refined. Gasoline-powered vehicles are less demanding and do not require constant upkeep, resulting in lower maintenance costs. Furthermore, gasoline engines offer faster response that allows for high speed performance and rapid acceleration. Petrol is also a cleaner fuel that results in lower emissions. Nonetheless, petrol lacks the robust power and fuel efficiency that diesel provides. Petrol-powered engines also have comparatively shorter lifespans. Which engine is right for you? Ultimately, the decision comes down to a driver’s daily usage and lifestyle. If you constantly travel long distances and prioritize vehicle reliability, then diesel is probably the choice for you. If you use your car less frequently, travel shorter distances or aren’t very car maintenance savvy, petrol may be the better choice. Kia is celebrating the spirit of adventure for the 2015 SEMA Show and has fully revealed one of its projects. Having already teased an off-road themed Sorento SUV, it appears that the Korean automaker is embracing the wilderness for this year’s SEMA Show. In total, Kia will bring six highly customized, hand-built concepts to Las Vegas, each of which will showcase unique geographic regions found throughout the country. Although we didn’t get a complete look at the Sorento, Kia did fully reveal the Forte Koup Mud Bogger, and it’s quite possibly the strangest thing we’ve ever seen, even for SEMA standards. SEE ALSO: Kia Sorento Goes Off-Road for 2015 SEMA Show The Forte Koup received a generous four-inch body and suspension lift along with beefy 28-inch off-road tires. The fenders and side skirts had to be modified to accommodate the larger wheels and tires, while the panoramic roof with a vinyl pushback top exposes a stripped-down interior with a pair of Sparco Evo II red race seats. The Mud Bogger also incorporates a hand-built roll cage that has been powdercoated white to match the wheels and front bumper bar. According to Kia, the Forte Koup Mud Bogger will represent the adventurous American South “and the inexplicable joy of getting dirty on four wheels.” It’s just hard to believe that anyone would have a Forte Koup on their mind when it comes to getting dirty on four wheels. The Kia Sorento is getting transformed to celebrate the American Road, just in time for the 2015 SEMA Show. Called the PacWest Adventure Sorento, Kia is giving its SUV an off-road look for Las Vegas this year. Although the Korean automaker didn’t disclose many details about the project, it did release a teaser image showing a new fabricated front bumper with all the goodies you would typically spy on an off-road vehicle including LED light bars, snorkel intake and tubular front bumper sporting plenty of sheetmetal. Of course, there will be off-road wheels and tires while the Sorento will surely be lifted for better ground clearance. SEE ALSO: 2016 Kia Sorento Review It appears that Kia is going with a shade of bright green for the project, closely resembling the paint found on various Lamborghini models. At past SEMA Shows, Kia showcased numerous modified vehicles that cater to all different crowds, so it’s unlikely the Sorento is the only vehicle showing up this year. Gone are the days when headlights were simple round fixtures on cars. With advancements in lighting technology, headlights have since become a prominent feature of automotive design. Let’s take a look at the development of car lamps and how they have come to be more than just lighting mechanisms. Often referred to as the ‘eyes’ of a car’s symmetrical face, car lamps are first and foremost a safety device created to provide visibility for drivers and to signal and communicate with other motorists. To serve this purpose, car lamps are regulated under strict standards to ensure full and proper functionality when driving. Kia Sportage light placements emphasize its strong image However, because the size, color and placement of lamps play a big role in providing vehicles with character and distinctiveness, lamps have also evolved into an important design element. With style playing as important a role as functionality, lamps are now iconic and intricate structures that demand high efficiency and attractive design. (Top left: Sorento, top right: Sportage, bottom left: Optima, bottom right: Quoris) The evolution of electric car lamps As one of the earliest electric car lamp designs found on vehicles, sealed beam lamps were essentially large light bulbs with a filament sealed between glass enclosures. When they burnt out, the fixture had to be replaced completely. Halogen lamps are light bulbs that feature a filament surrounded by halogen gas, which allows for the filament to burn at higher temperatures, resulting in a longer and brighter-burning light. Halogen lamps continue to be used today for automobiles but are increasingly being phased out. High intensity discharge (HID) lamps create light by igniting an electrical discharge between two electrodes in a glass tube filled with inert gasses. HID lighting emits a long lasting light of superior intensity and focus. The most popular technological innovation in headlamps is the light–emitting diode (LED) lamp. LED lamps consume very little energy to produce light that is approximately four times stronger than halogen lighting. Furthermore, its compact size and durability allows it to be incorporated in slim and sleek car designs. The Optima’s rear lights contribute to its sleek and dynamic silhouette As car lamps have become increasingly slimmer and more energy efficient, progressively innovative light designs have started to emerge. As car lamp positioning is now an integral aspect of automobile design, lighting technology is becoming more and more a product of collaborative efforts between designers and engineers. Innovators at Kia have started applying advanced lighting technology to bring to life more creative and striking designs and dynamic silhouettes. This year, Kia Motors in collaboration with Hyundai Motors, held the 6th annual R&D IDEA Festival. In adherence to Kia’s corporate philosophy, this year’s theme was ‘Journey Together to a Better Future.’ Read on to explore the wonderfully eccentric entries that reflect the brilliant imagination of our engineers! The 10 finalists chosen from the March preliminaries showed off their inventions at the festival held at the Namyang R&D center. Despite being given only five months to develop, refine and perfect their ideas using a fixed budget and only allowed to spend time on their projects outside of working hours, the entries did not disappoint. Prize winners This fun car-band creation named U Can Concert was the grand prize winner of this year’s festival. With drum kits equipped in the driver’s seat and keyboard, electric guitar and bass in the passenger and back seats, the vehicle is truly a band on wheels. Origine, a cylindrical vehicle with two massive wheels, was crowned the runner up. Providing a smooth and comfortable ride for the passenger, the vehicle was designed to easily navigate the terrains of the future. Taking home the special judges’ award was the Electric Wheelchair. The system allows those without the use of their arms and legs to be able to navigate with the movement of their head. As it is a detachable module, any wheelchair can be transformed simply by mounting the system. Childcare Innovations Child-car is a multi-functioning vehicle designed for parents with children. The system features a backseat that transforms into an air-bag baby’s seat while allowing parents to monitor their children via a built-in monitor. Another innovation for parents is the Electric Stroller. Carrying both parent and child, the smartphone-controlled motorized vehicle can also ferry an additional trailer for baggage. Environmental/Conservation Inventions The flying drone-like device called Life Zepplin enables water to be collected and distributed to a location in need. Wafrica is a bicycle that functions as both a water purifying unit and a clothes washing machine. Powered by the pedals, the unit allows for washing chores to be done on-the-go. Solar Dream is a compact car, van and scooter built into one solar-powered unit. The multi-functioning device was built with developing countries in mind as a useful mode of transportation for different situations. Virtual Reality Exploration Avatar Drive is a system that controls cars using a virtual reality headset, allowing a ‘driver’ at home to transport a vehicle without being physically present in the car itself. With a specialized headpiece, Driving Expansion allows users to explore virtual and augmented reality when driving. This technology can be useful for practicing or learning how to drive. Since 2010, the R&D IDEA Festival has been a joint effort by Kia and Hyundai to inspire creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. True to form, the event allows engineers to explore and realize their wildest ideas. The winning entries will be on display at various events to celebrate the brilliant ideas that are born at Kia. Dag, Het stuur van mijn Kia draait soms niet volledig terug naar neutraal. Als ik korte bochten maak draait hij soms niet naar helemaal neutraal terug en moet ik een beetje zelf corrigeren om recht te rijden. Bij lange bochten kan ik soms stuur laten scheef staan ( blijft hangen en gaat niet terug naar neutrale stand) en blijven draaien door bocht zonder ik stuur moet corrigeren. Mijn collega heeft een Ceed uit 2010 met het volgende probleem.De display in de middenconsole met daarin de navigatie en radio unit werkt niet meer. De radio werkt nog op het kanaal waar deze op stond en harder en zachter zetten werkt ook nog, maar dat was het.De unit is wel gereset en lijkt in een soort loop terecht te komen. Het Kia logo wordt wel zichtbaar dus de display is niet defect.De Kia dealer biedt een ruilunit aan voor veel geld.Iemand een tip om dit eenvoudiger op te laten lossen ?
