Hello again, everyone! My last posting was already three months ago when I was preparing for the Australian Open and I’ve once again realized how fast time flies! Kia Motors was the Major Sponsor of the Australian Open for the 10th consecutive year this year. Australian Open 2011 came to a close on January 30 putting an end to two weeks of excitement. This year was one of the most successful years of our sponsorship – in almost everything! Kia Motors was able to leverage the Australian Open to run a global marketing program in Australia, which linked the promotions in countries across the globe. Among them I conducted the Experience Kia! Program, where reporters wer…

Kia BUZZ recently sad down with the all-new Picanto product manager in Kia’s head office and here’s what he had to say about the third-generation Picanto that’s going to shatter people’s perceptions on what to expect from compact A-segment vehicles. SUN-HO LEE: Hello! My name is Sun-ho Lee. I’ve been working in the Overseas Product Team for six years overseeing the development of Picanto, and its process from development to production. KIA BUZZ: Could you give us a brief description of the role of the product developer? It may not be hot weather yet in Seoul, but our all-new Picanto is certainly heating things up! This is the second generation Picanto, known as Morning in some markets, and it was one of the most surprising A-segment vehicles I’ve ever driven. To be honest, I had a prejudice about A-segment car as most Korean men have. But all my prejudices were challenged during a drive on city streets last week when I had access to Picanto’s most basic models with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Exterior of the new Picanto was bold and unique. I liked its front grille and side character line – those two elements represent that new Picanto’s double sidedness, sportiness and ‘cute’ a…

All-new Rio has its own interpretation of Kia’s signature grille, integrated with the headlamps to give a new twist on the Kia family look. In profile, the body to glass ratio and its strong wedge form give new Rio a dynamic sporty stance. The balance of the window graphic, wheelbase and overall proportions generates a ‘premium presence’ which is rare in this segment. Overall, new Rio combines European finesse with Korean spice to create a form language that communicates Latin flair. The new model features a wheelbase extended by 70 mm (to 2,570 mm) and promises greater passenger space and comfort, together with increased cargo capacity to 292 liters (hatchback) and 3…

It started off by asking Kia Motors Facebook fans to ask questions to the world’s top tennis athletes. From the hundreds of questions received through Facebook, Kia Motors interviewed tennis stars, like Kia global brand ambassador, Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco, Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters during their time at the Australian Open 2011. As part of Kia’s 10th consecutive sponsorship of the Australian Open, the company donated a fleet of 101 specially-equipped official tournament vehicles to Tennis Australia to transport players, officials and VIPs throughout the tournament The all-new Optima was one of those donated vehicles and the scene for The Open Drive s…

With the start of a New Year, many people enjoy making new resolutions that they may or may not keep. Kia Argentina, though, is letting people set out five year goals for themselves and then letting it go cyber for the world to see. How’s that for motivation? Through the ‘Capsula Kia’ campaign, people can visit Kia’s greeting box in Pinamar, (a coastal resort town on the east coast of Argentina) to select a goal they would like to accomplish in the next five years. Their photo and five-year goal are posted onto Kia Argentina’s Facebook fan page (click here to visit the page). Fans can then see their photo and goal on the page and share with their friends – it’…
