  9. The dreaded summer heat wave is now here and nothing is more liberating this time of year than a road trip to a refreshing destination. With Kia Niro, the hip new hybrid utility vehicle from Kia Motors, scenic drives are not only encouraged but a must-do activity of the season. So hop on and join us for a ride along the coastal highway! In many ways, the all-new Kia Niro is the perfect getaway car. A combination of eco-friendly and smart, the special features on the Niro adds charm and appeal to the model’s already intriguing vehicular design. Get up and go with the Kia Niro! Designed to provide aerodynamic and enjoyable travelling, the front portion of the model to its side door trims has been carefully shaped for a wide field of vision for the drivers and passengers. The acoustic windshield and contoured side mirrors also work to soften wind and road noise while on the road. With the Niro, summer getaways are closer than they appear Although seemingly compact from the outside, the Niro is surprisingly roomy within. Boasting adjustable seats with spacious headroom and leg space, the all-new Niro delivers comfort for passengers and luggage alike. Customizable seats are a useful feature for longer trips The downside to most hybrids is that the heavy battery located under the rear seats weighs down the vehicle when on the road, ultimately taking away from the riding experience. Kia Niro is an exception to this as a fully-independent, multi-link suspension ensures improved stability and allows rear wheels to absorb shocks independently for an all-around comfortable ride. Niro delivers comfort on all terrains and conditions The all-new Niro also allows drivers to switch between two driving modes for a distinctly different driving experience. Engaged with the shift stick, the ‘Eco mode’ allows for a quiet and fuel efficient ride while the ‘Sports mode’ transforms the HUV into a dynamic and powerful sportster. Where ever you decide to go, the Niro promises a revitalizing adventure! ▶ Learn more about the hybrid features of the Kia Niro Lees hele artikel

Power’s annual Initial Quality Study (IQS) was just released and it’s full of unexpected news.</strong></p> <p><span id="more-405652"></span></p> <p>Presented at an Automotive Press Association event in Detroit, the biggest revelation in this closely watched survey is that <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/kia/index.html">Kia</a>is now the highest-rated brand, with a score of just 83 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). This Korean company’s impressive performance marks the first time in 27 years that a non-premium automaker topped the list.</p> <p>“The Korean brands have really been outpacing other brands,” explained Renee Stephens, vice-president of U.S. automotive quality at J.D. Power. This is true for sister-company <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/hyundai/index.html">Hyundai</a>as well, which came in third place with a still-impressive PP100 of just 92, which put it right behind <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/porsche/index.html">Porsche,</a> a perennial IQS leader.</p> <p><a href="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power.jpg"rel="attachment wp-att-405656"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-405656" src="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power.jpg" alt="Renee-Stephens-JD-Power" width="671" height="411" srcset="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-153x94.jpg 153w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-270x165.jpg 270w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-696x426.jpg 696w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-408x250.jpg 408w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-334x205.jpg 334w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-186x114.jpg 186w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-75x46.jpg 75w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power-450x276.jpg 450w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Renee-Stephens-JD-Power.jpg 671w" sizes="(max-width: 671px) 100vw, 671px" /></a></p> <p>Part of the reason for the strong showings posted by Kia and Hyundai is that they were the best in the ACEN category, that is, audio/communication/entertainment/navigation. Owners found their respective infotainment systems to be speedy and simple to decipher. This is the most troublesome category for all automakers, though across-the-board improvements are being made every year.</p> <p>Overall, IQS measures problems reported by new-vehicle buyers during the first 90 days of ownership. For 2016, more than 80,000 consumers responded, providing data on 245 different models from 33 separate brands.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>ALSO SEE: <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2016/06/the-best-automaker-in-initial-quality-is-a-big-surprise.html"target="_blank">The Best Automaker in Initial Quality is a Big Surprise</a></strong></p> <p>IQS tracks 233 issues that are grouped into eight different categories. It monitors outright malfunctions, such as a sunroof that stops working but it also keeps track of so-called design defects. This includes things like an infotainment system that’s difficult use or poorly designed cup holders, items that cause owners trouble but can’t really be fixed since they operate as engineered.</p> <p>Aside from Korean dominance, another unexpected finding in this year’s study is that the Detroit Three automakers have lower reported issues than their imported rivals. This is only the second time this has ever happened in the 30 years J.D. Power has published its Initial Quality Study.</p> <p>On average, General Motors, <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/ford/index.html">Ford</a>and <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/chrysler/index.html">Chrysler</a> have just 103 PP100, a score that represents a whopping 10 percent improvement compared to last year. Underscoring this performance, the speed at which domestic automakers are moving forward is twice that of their imported rivals, which averaged 106 PP100.</p> <p>Curiously, Chrysler and <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/kia/index.html">Jeep</a>are the two most improved brands. Both of them reduced the number of problems per 100 vehicles by 28. Consequently, both of them jumped 11 spots compared to 2015, with Chrysler coming in 20th place and Jeep 18th.</p> <p><a href="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart.jpg"rel="attachment wp-att-405654"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-405654" src="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart.jpg" alt="JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart" width="671" height="411" srcset="http://autoguide.com.vsassets.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-153x94.jpg 153w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-270x165.jpg 270w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-696x426.jpg 696w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-408x250.jpg 408w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-334x205.jpg 334w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-186x114.jpg 186w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-75x46.jpg 75w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart-450x276.jpg 450w, http://www.autoguide.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JD-Power-IQS-2016-Chart.jpg 671w" sizes="(max-width: 671px) 100vw, 671px" /></a></p> <p>On the flip-side, <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/new-cars/jaguar/index.html">Jaguar</a>had a terrible showing in the latest IQS, falling from third in 2015 to 27th this year thanks to a PP100 rating of 127. But for a little perspective, that wasn’t too bad; smart was the worst of all 33 automakers ranked, with a devastating score of 216.</p> <p>“The domestic level of improvement has really come around,” said Stephens. Like Korean companies, the Detroit Three have improved significantly in the ACEN category. So far, Ford’s Sync 3 and FCA’s Uconnect infotainment systems have proven to be responsive and easy to use.</p> <p>But this is not to discount the advancements made by all carmakers. Stephens said, “We saw a great level of improvement in the industry this year,” the rate of which hit 6 percent, double what it was back in 2015. The average for the entire car business in America is 105 PP100.</p> <p>Quality has increased dramatically to the point that outright failures have taken a backseat. “When we look at it today,” said Stephens, “The majority [of issues] are design-related.” In fact, they represent 64 percent of all reported issues; defects only account for 33.</p> <p>Improved initial quality is good news for consumers, who demand it. According to J.D. Power data, expected reliability was cited by nearly half of all vehicle owners as their No. 1 purchase consideration. This topped other aspects like styling, price and even fuel efficiency.</p> <p>But strong initial quality isn’t just good for motorists, it’s a boon for manufacturers because it drives brand loy`lty Lees het hele artikel

  18. Kia Motors has experienced significant movement and growth in the automobile industry, and along the way, Kia cars have adopted some noteworthy changes. Starting from a look that Chief Design Officer Mr. Peter Schreyer described as “neutral,” Kia has since made substantial modifications that have made our vehicles stand out in the eyes of the world’s consumers. Behold the unique face of the Kia Niro. With the goal of making a powerful and dynamic statement, Kia has since created a distinct face and bold logo that can be identified from afar and that translate across all models. The final product and Kia’s current visual symbol – the signature grille, headlamps, and brand logo – gives all of our vehicles a bold personality and a familial identity that is strikingly recognizable and eye-catching. The Kia emblem through the years Over time, the Kia logo has gone through many design and color changes. The earliest known Kia logo appeared around the 1960s when Kia first started manufacturing licensed cars. Resembling an upside-down letter ‘Q’, the logo was made up of a circle with a line crossing through the upper right of the circle. The 1960s Kia logo can be found on the center of the Kia E-3800 commercial truck. In the 1980s, when Kia started exporting to overseas markets, the brand adopted a new logo based on its English corporate name. The extended upper stroke of the letter ‘K’ symbolized the Kia flag with waves representing Kia’s a bright and innovative future as it entered the global markets. Kia’s ‘three waves’ logo placed on the 1990s Kia Pride (first generaton Rio) In celebration of its 50th anniversary in 1994, Kia developed the simple red and white logo that is widely recognized today. Simultaneously, Kia also developed an alternate circular logo for the domestic Korean market. Referred to as the ‘K’ logo, this emblem made very few appearances outside Asia and was eventually rendered obsolete when Kia opted for the more simplistic current-day logo. Kia ‘K’ logo as seen on the 2004 Sportage The current Kia emblem features the company name ‘KIA’ in custom font, embedded into a silver oval. The sleek oval sought to represent the earth or the global marketplace while the letters ‘KIA’ in deep red were associated with the sun and passion to convey Kia’s dedication to its fans and consumers. The stylized ‘A’ missing its strikethrough makes the logo particularly recognizable and further stresses Kia’s design philosophy: ‘the simplicity of the straight line.’ Featuring the corporate colors of red and white, the emblem also appears in a black and chrome version on cars to give them a sleeker and more stylish look. Hello Tiger! Kia did not have a unified front grille prior to 2006. Kia’s signature grille first appeared in 2006 when Peter Schreyer joined Kia Motors as the Chief Design Officer. The appropriately named tiger-nose grille made its grand debut on the Kee concept car that was unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). Kia Kee concept introduced at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show From then on, our stellar design teams applied this striking visual identifier to all Kia models, modifying the face ever so slightly to fit the image of the vehicle while maintaining a unified family look. Despite the common face, the grille is found to be rounded on some models while sharper and edgier on others. The grille for each model is unique but identifiable under one family But why the tiger nose? Feeling the need to give Kia cars a strong, distinctive face, Peter contemplated many different possibilities until the “powerful, yet kind of friendly” face of a tiger emerged as an inspiration. As a result, Kia’s signature grille and sharp headlights closely resemble the dimensional face and alert eyes of a tiger, appearing at once strong, sharp, and unique. Similar but unique to every model, the Kia face is one of the most distinctive identifiers for Kia models distributed all over the world. Now that you have learned a little more about the Kia logo and grille, will you be able to identify a Kia from afar? Lees hele artikel

  25. [See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The ribbon is cut and the cars are rolling off the assembly line at Kia’s new factory in Monterrey, Mexico, the automaker’s second in the western hemisphere after opening a plant in Georgia about eight years ago. At a cost of more than $3-billion, the plant is hone to production of the facelifted 2017 Kia Forte sedan, with the Forte5 hatchback and another compact car coming soon. The AutoGuide.com team had a chance to check out the new plant and learn how Kia hopes it will help continue its rapid growth. 1. It’s Massive Kia’s newest plant spans some 2.9 million square feet, which is more than 600,000 sq-ft larger than the Cowboys Stadium. The property itself is approximately 1,700 acres, more than twice the size of New York’s Central Park, and is home to 13 suppliers that have facilities on-site. 2. It Was Built In a Hurry Kia broke ground on the plant in suburban Monterrey, Mexico, in October 2014, and it was completed in November 2015, less than 15 months later. For perspective, it takes about six months on average to build a single-family house in the U.S. 3. It Has Its Own Test Track Every vehicle that rolls off the assembly line is put through its paces on a specialized test track that spans the entire width of the property, and includes uneven pavement, high-speed stretches and hills that feature 30 percent grades. 4. It’s a Major Employer The plant already employs 7,000 people, just months after production of the 2017 Kia Forte sedan got underway. The automaker is aiming to double that to 14,000 jobs as it adds a second and third shift. 5. It Can Build a Lot of Cars The plant can produce 400,000 vehicles annually, equivalent to the number of Ford F-Series pickups sold in the U.S. in the first half of 2016 and about 10 percent of Kia’s global capacity. Production of the Forte sedan is now underway, with plans to add the Forte5 hatchback and another small car in the near future.
