The 2011-2013 Kia Sorento is being recalled for a transmission glitch. According to the recall notice, the affected Kia Sorento crossovers can unexpectedly roll while parked if the gearshift lever is pressed with too much force, resulting in a chip or crack to the break-shift interlock. As a result, that could cause the transmission to unintentionally shift out of park, even if the brakes are not pressed. The Korean automaker said three injuries, 54 warranty claims and 14 customer complaints have been related to the recall. SEE ALSO: 2016 Kia Sorento Limited V6 Review The company’s regulatory team began investigating the issue in August following a copy of a letter from an attorney alleging his client’s son climbed into a 2011 Kia Sorento and shifted the crossover out of park, despite not engaging the brakes or putting a key in the ignition. Recall notices will be sent out starting November 24 and dealerships will replace the faulty brake-shift interlock with new parts for free. After recently hitting the two millionth vehicle production milestone, Kia’s manufacturing plant located in Zilina, Slovakia continues to be instrumental in Kia’s growth and success in Europe. Today we present a glimpse of our state-of-the-art European facility. The main models being produced at the Zilina plant include the Kia cee’d line-up, Sportage (the brand’s best-selling vehicle in Europe), and Venga. Since opening in 2006, the Zilina plant has also assumed the role as the European production base for Kia’s gasoline and diesel engines. (Top left: cee’d, top right: cee’d GT, bottom left: Venga, bottom right: Sportage) There are 3,800 highly skilled employees working the production line at the Zilina manufacturing plant, and they all play a critical role in driving global sales and exports. The Kia Sportage is back with an all-new model, five years after the launch of the previous generation vehicle. First unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt International Motor Show, the all-new Sportage instantly caught the attention of many car lovers with its powerful look and improved features. The development project of the 4th generation Sportage was initiated back in April 2012, with involvement of global Kia design teams in the US, Germany and Korea. Check out the interesting behind-the-scenes stories of the all-new Sportage design, shared by actual Kia exterior and interior designers. Revolutionary Exterior Design “Designing the all-new Sportage was a great challenge for us designers,” said the chief of the exterior design team, Moon-Hyo Yoon. “We aimed to bring its design to a whole new level while maintaining the already-perfected design identity of the 3rd generation Sportage.” After endless hours of discussion and sketches, Kia designers decided on the design keywords “Sporty & Powerful Energy”. As a result, the newest generation Sportage has received horizontal streamlines on the side which maximize the sturdy and strong sensation of the chassis. With its rigorous body shape and powerful details, the design of the Sportage was taken to a whole new level. Kia’s Exterior Design Team boldly placed the headlamps above the grille for an identity that is more progressive and aggressive than most SUVs. The rear combination and front fog lamps also add a futuristic touch to an already strong design. Value-added Interior Design The underlying theme for the all-new Sportage’s interior was innovation. “We aimed to create a luxurious yet comfortable interior that perfectly fit both urban and outdoor settings,” explained Chi-Young Kim of the Interior Design Team. The inside of the car focused on providing the most driver-friendly experience in the segment. Compared to its predecessor, the new Sportage has more personalized touches, ranging from a conveniently organized display zone, heightened visibility of the cluster and an optimum AVN angle for the driver to easily access controls. Hallo,Mijn rio heeft een vreemd "probleem" heel soms, als ik wil starten, licht het acculampje heel erg flauw op ( is haast niet te zien )als dat het geval is, lijkt het net of de accu leeg is, draait de motor praktisch niet rond, en dus start hij niet.Na even wachten of een paar keer proberen, zie je het lampje wat helderder worden, en is het probleem weg,draait rond als een tierelier, en start direct, soms duurt dit een paar dagen, maar soms blijft het ook weken weg.Laatste keer deze week bij de apk, pakte de auto, geen probleem, reed naar de apk, zet hem voor de deur, geef de sleutels af,man gaat er in zitten, wil starten, en hij doet niks, ik proberen, na een tijdje start hij, verder geen problemen meer gehad.Man zei, je accu is niet best, maar dat kan ik me niet voorstellen, tot nu toe draait hij rond als een tierelier, geen enkel probleem.
