temperatuur nieuwe Kia Rio 1,1 CRDI (Kia)
Iemand enig idee? Lees het hele artikel -
Global warming is a shared issue facing all of us, and numerous carmakers, including Kia, are making their best efforts to develop eco-friendly vehicles to help offset their environmental impact. However, there are some things that you as drivers can start doing today to help in this worldwide action towards a greener planet. Today on Buzz, we’ll show you some simple tips to become a green driver while saving some money at the fuel pump along the way. 1. Weight: Many of us have a ton of useless things in our cars that we don’t need for our everyday commutes. Reducing weight can significantly cut down on fuel consumption, so lighten up your load. 2. Remove Roof Racks: Take them down when you are not using them. Roof racks can create wind resistance, which increases fuel consumption. 3. Tire Pressure: Occasionally checking your tire pressure at the fuel pump is a great habit to develop. Did you know that for every 6psi a tire is deflated below its stated pressure, fuel consumption increases by 1%? 4. Refueling: Avoid overfilling your fuel tank since spilled fuel evaporates and releases harmful emissions. 5. Drive with the windows up: This reduces air drag for better fuel efficiency. 6. Limit air conditioning use: We tend to overdue the A/C and using more than needed will consume more fuel. 7. Switch off the engine: If you’re stuck in a traffic jam where you will be stationary for more than two minutes then turn your engine off. 8. Harsh acceleration and braking: This action can use up to 30% more fuel and can cause wear and tear on your vehicle. 9. Control your speed: Did you know that travelling at less than 15mph (24 km/h) creates the most pollution? Your level of pollution decreases as your speed increases up to 60mph (96 km/h), but travelling over this limit will start increasing your pollution levels again. 10. Careful motorway/highway driving: The concertina effect is caused when one motorist brakes sharply and causes the traffic behind to slow down to a near stop due to the delayed reaction of drivers behind. We can anticipate and judge our necessary speed by observing three or four car lengths ahead and giving ourselves some distance from the car in front. When you see a car bake up ahead, simply remove your foot from the accelerator. By the time you get close to the car in front it would have speeded up already. Not only will this increase your fuel efficiency, but you can stop the concertina effect from happening. These habits are just the beginning, but they will all add up in the long-run and contribute towards a better earth and your own personal fuel savings. What do you think? Do you have any tips of your own? Share them with us in the comments section below. Kia has revealed its all-new Carens model ahead of its premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, giving us a glimpse of what the Korean automaker calls a compact MPV. Essentially replacing what was known as the Rondo in the United States, the Carens features signature Kia styling while offering seating up to seven. Unfortunately most of the details on the multi-purpose vehicle will be kept under wraps until the auto show in France, but the automaker did say that it will be on sale in Europe starting next spring. Kia did not, however, release any information on what other markets it will make an appearance in. Originally sold throughout North America, it was dropped from the brand’s US lineup while sales continued North of the border in Canada. We expect more information to come when it officially premieres are the 2012 Paris Motor Show. “The new Carens builds on the family-friendly versatility and functionality of its predecessor, and features more athletic and visually dynamic design,” says Hyoung-Keun Lee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Kia. “This marks a dramatic shift forward for our MPV contender and brings the model in line with Kia’s distinctive current design direction.” GALLERY: 2013 Kia Carens Lees het hele artikel

This exciting form of windsurfing is an adrenaline charged ride that has surfers taking acrobatic and aeronautic leaps over waves and flying through the air. You might be wondering, “Why is it called ‘Cold Hawaii?’ – Klitmøller, which is located in Northern Denmark, has been aptly named by local surfers as ‘Cold Hawaii’ for its surf conditions and cold weather. It has quickly become a world-class surfing spot and its climate and surf will definitely boost the exhilaration and challenge for this year’s competition. Kia Powers Forward on the Road to Electrification
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kia Buzz
You’ve probably heard about EcoDynamics being mentioned a lot from us. It is an innovative technology aimed to contribute to the sustainability of our planet by reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Kia is one of a few global automakers developing all types of electric propulsion technologies including a parallel hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric vehicle and fuel cell electric vehicle. Kia puts continuous efforts to come up with the best solution to reduce CO₂ emission. Today on Kia BUZZ, we’d like to show you a bit of Kia’s stylish environment-friendly vehicles, the Ray EV production model as well as three other concept cars – the Venga EV, the POP and Naimo, to prove that pursuing environment friendliness does not mean giving up on design. Kia Venga EV Kia’s zero-emissions, all-electirc, plug-in Venga EV concept car made its world premiere at the Geneva Show in March 2010. It features an electric powertrain placed within the existing engine bay and a twin-pack battery located under the (slightly raised) trunk floor. It could drive approximately 160 km (99 miles) on a single charge – Sufficient for most daily commuting needs – with acceleration to 100kph (62 mph) in 15 seconds and a top speed of 130kph (80 mph). Power comes from a high-efficiency kW electric motor and a battery pack. The pack used innovative LiPoly (Lithium Ion Polymer) technology which is much more resistant to ambient temperature fluctuations – a crucial factor in battery electric vehicles – and could be recharged to 100 percent in five hours using a household current. Kia POP Unveiled at the 2010 Paris Show in September, the unconventional features of the POP – its side-window design, dot-pattern head and tail lights, back-lit front grille, full-length glass roof, and simplistic looking wheels – all pointed to inspiration from outside the usual automotive spheres, such as gliders and high-speed bicycles. Inside, the purple color scheme created a calm and peaceful environment within the space-ship like three-seater cabin. Behind the front bench seat, the single rear seat was positioned at an offset angle, resulting in remarkable legroom for a 1,740 mm (5.7 ft) wide car with a wheelbase of just 2,055 mm (6.7 ft). Kia Naimo The third electric vehicle, 3.9-meter (12.8 ft) long Naimo concept car made its world premiere at the Seoul Motor Show in March 2011. Naimo can drive up to 150 km/h (99 mph) and can go 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge. Conceived by Kia’s international design team in Seoul, the uncomplicated overall design was accentuated by a number of striking key details, such as the wraparound widescreen and asymmetric sunroof design, and the front and rear dot-style LED lights. Simple & complex is a common trait of many traditional arts and crafts, while the typical jade coloring of Korean pottery gave Naimo its unique exterior finish. The showcar was fitted with special low-drag 20-inch diameter alloy wheels. Inside, Naimo was designed to evoke a strong sense of tranquility and featured hand-crafted materials alongside modern features such as a TOLED (transparent organic light emitting diode) instrument panel. Kia Ray EV The Venga, POP and Naimo joined Kia’s growing fleet of hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles and played a part in the development period for the next vanguard on Kia’s road to electrification – the Kia Ray EV. Korea’s first mass produced battery electric vehicle celebrated its premiere in December 2011 and is now on sale to government agencies in Kia’s home country with plans to expand sales to the general Korean public in 2013. The front-wheel drive Ray EV is powered by a 50 kW electric motor and a high-capacity 16.4 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack that is engineered for a 10 year life cycle and packaged under the rear seat and cabin floor. The Ray EV offers drivers’ a choice ‘E’ (‘eco’) mode which minimizes battery consumption and maximizes range or ‘B’ (‘brake’) mode to increase regenerative braking power when driving on downhill mountain roads. Although the Ray EV weighs more than the gasoline model, the electric motor’s generous torque of 167 Nm (an increase of 77 percent) ensures lively performance, with faster acceleration (0-to-100kph (62mph) in 15.9 seconds) than the gasoline models, plus a top speed of 130 kph (80 mph) and a range up to 140 km (87 miles) on a single charge. Kia’s first full EV for global markets is expected to be based on a compact CUV model and will go on sale during 2014. Kia is continuously studying market trends and keeping options open to add further EV models to its product line-up if there is sufficient consumer demand. At present, electric vehicle technologies do not provide the ultimate transport solution that is ideal for every motoring situation and free from all limitations, due to the infrastructure issues such as the battery charging and price. Research work is continuing across broad range of candidate technologies here at Kia, and we hope EV will soon become the ultimate transport for our future, to become the best solution for the environment. Kia has decided to produce a limited production run of 2013 Rio SX hatchback models equipped with six-speed manual transmissions, undoubtedly responding to the demands made by consumer interest. Up until now, the Korean automaker has only offered a manual transmission in its base LX model, but is now considering bringing other high-spec models to market with manual transmission options. Standard on the 2013 Kia Rio SX manual hatchback will be push-button start, touchscreen navigation, rear-backup camera, 17-inch wheels, sport suspension, LED daytime running lights, satellite radio, and black cloth interior. The no-frills LX model comes with smaller 16-inch wheels, four-speaker stereo and even lacks things such as cruise control, power windows and door locks, and a telescopic steering wheel. Talk about bare bones. The bad news? Kia only plans on building less than 500 manual-equipped SX models, so act fast if you’re interested. The starting MSRP will be $18,650 including a $750 destination charge and nets you a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder with 138-hp while getting 30-mpg in the city and 40-mpg on the highway. 2014 Kia Forte, Updated Sorento Set for L.A. Debut
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kianieuws van Autoguide.com
Kia will be heading to this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show with a redesigned Forte and an updated Sorento, the Korean automaker has confirmed. The 2014 Kia Forte has already been previewed when the automaker debuted it out in Korea – where it’s known as the K3. While the Kia Forte gets a huge redesign for the 2014 model year, the Sorento heading to the LA Auto Show will be more of a refresh to hold us over until the all-new Sorento debuts in 2014. The next-generation Sorento will be based on the Hyundai Santa Fe, which will be a noticeable improvement over the current model. Kia has been the fastest-growing automaker in the US based on annual retail sales growth over the last five years. For the last 24 consecutive months, the Korean automaker has posted monthly sales records and currently holds 4-percent market share in America. [source: Detroit News] Lees het hele artikel -
Kia Quoris In-Car Tech Detailed
Kiaclub Nieuwsrobot plaatste een topic in Kianieuws van Autoguide.com
Kia is hoping to tap into an entirely new market with its luxurious Quoris sedan. The flagship model will feature plenty of premium amenities on the inside, much of which has never been seen in any other Kia model. Back in June, we previewed the force feedback control knob that the Quoris will utilize, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg on what the sedan has to offer. Adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and an ‘Around View Monitor’ camera system are standard fare, while the 12.3-inch TFT LCD gauge cluster will be a first for the Korean automaker. In addition, there will be a full color, heads-up display that can show the vehicle’s speed, navigation details, cruise control info, and speed limits. The infotainment systems will be controlled by the previously mentioned force feedback control knob available for both front and rear passengers. Rear passengers will get to enjoy a pair of seat-mounted screens along with a larger one on the center stack. Even though Kia hasn’t confirmed that the Quoris will make it to America, we’ll be more surprised if it doesn’t. The automaker has been enjoying immense success in the US market, and the Quoris will surely be a solid addition to its model lineup. Combining elegant simplicity with balanced proportions, plus a host of advanced features and new technologies, Kia’s all-new luxury flagship sedan Quoris went on sale in Korea on May 2. It tops Kia’s global model range and is a true landmark vehicle for the company. With V6 power and an eight-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology, Kia’s first modern rear-wheel drive vehicle will drive the Kia brand into what is an entirely new segment of the global market for the company. Exploring proportions that define luxury Styling for a rear-wheel drive platform has provided Kia’s design team with a fresh opportunity to explore proportions that define luxury. As a large 5.1-meter long (16.7 ft) rear-wheel drive vehicle, Quoris boasts a long 3,045 mm (9.99 ft) wheelbase which gives a generous first impression. As the engine is mounted further back, the A-pillar is also moved back to create a longer hood and an impressive short front overhang. Consequently, the distance between the center of the front wheel and the A-pillar – the so called “prestige distance” – is increased. Thanks to this long prestige distance and high shoulder line the glass house sits further back and the sheet metal-to-glass ratio is significantly increased. While the long prestige distance gives occupants a feeling of dignity, the high shoulder line provides sense of privacy. Distinctive window graphics [accentuated by a chrome inlay] give the flagship sedan a premium feel as well. Quoris’ overall width and height are 1,900 mm and 1,490 mm (6.2 ft, 4.9 ft) respectively, which create a spacious cabin environment, while close attention to exterior detailing has resulted in an efficiently streamlined shape with a highly competitive 0.27 Cd. V6 power and eight-speed transmission Kia’s new flagship sedan will be available in overseas markets powered by an upgraded 290 ps Lambda V6 3.8-liter MPI engine, with a 334 ps 3.8-liter GDI engine joining the global line-up of power trains next year. Kia’s engineers boosted the naturally aspirated Lambda V6’s power output, raised its efficiency and enhanced its refinement – making it well-suited to power the brand’s all-new flagship model. Every Quoris comes with Kia’s all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. The wide spread of ratios made possible with eight gears guarantees both brisk acceleration and high-speed refinement, while shift-by-wire [sBW] technology delivers fast, smooth gear changes. Rear-wheel drive characteristics “With the Kia Quoris we have achieved a near-perfect front/rear weight distribution, which has created a strong foundation for excellent balance and steering response, and a sophisticated blend of ride and handling qualities,’ comments Chang-Ky Kang, Senior Vice President of Namyang R&D Chassis Technology Center. Together with the ultra-stiff body shell made with 74.3 percent high-strength steel, Quoris’ electronically controlled air suspension with five-link front and rear geometry gives the flagship first-class ride and handling characteristics. Four driving modes [Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow] enable the driver to choose a preferred set-up of suspension, steering, engine and transmission characteristics that is ideal for various road conditions or driving styles. “’Quoris’ excellent balance delivers a host of driver benefits including improved traction and road holding, enhanced braking stability and faster turn-in. Adopting rear-wheel drive also enabled us to create a new purity of steering response and feel,” concludes Kang. High-tech luxury features new to Kia When it goes on sale in overseas markets, Quoris will premiere a range of high-tech luxury features new to Kia. Premium comfort features will include a 12.3-inch full size Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD cluster, a HUD (head-up display), twin 9.2-inch monitors for rear seat occupants, a 17-channel, 17-speaker Lexicon sound system and an Around-View Monitor (AVM) with four cameras. The infotainment system available for Quoris is powered by the Intel Atom processor – making its first appearance in a Kia and jointly developed by the two companies. The touchscreen on the dashboard allows the driver to take advantage of state-of-the-art functions and services, while the backseat display supports a wide variety of video formats to entertain passengers. A special ‘VIP’ option will offer twin head and ventilated rear seats with a reclining backrest, sliding cushion and lower leg support for the ‘nearside’ seat, together with a front passenger seat that slides forward when unoccupied, to offer exceptional space and comfort. Innovative ‘active’ and ‘passive’ safety systems All occupants of Quoris will benefit from a range of advanced range of ‘active’ and ‘passive’ safety technologies dedicated to providing them with maximized protection. Depending on trim level, available active safety features will include an Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS), a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) with a forward-facing video camera, two radar-based safety systems, Blind-Spot Detection (BSD), Adaptive Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) and Advanced Vehicle Safety Management (AVSM) ASCC adjusts the vehicle’s speed to maintain the distance from the vehicle ahead – even bringing the Quoris to a complete stop if necessary. AVSM provides highly sophisticated integrated control of various systems if a potential collision is detected. For improved safety at night, the AFLS works in conjunction with the Quoris’ full LED headlights –reacting to vehicle speed and steering angle, to deliver the most appropriate light pattern. To alleviate the risk of bodily harm in the event of an accident, Quoris is fitted with a total of nine airbags – including dual front, twin front seat side and full-length curtain airbags, plus twin rear seat side airbags and a driver’s knee air bag. Kia’s engineers are confident that Quoris will achieve a ‘top score’ safety rating in official crash safety tests around the world. A true flagship for the Kia range Kia believes that Quoris will be a game-changer in terms of raising awareness and elevating consumers’ perception of the brand. Whatever expectations you may have, Quoris is set to exceed far beyond your imagination as the ultimate luxury flagship.
