While many other automakers, including Japanese and American manufacturers, have taken a bit of a battering in recent years due to economic uncertainty and natural disasters, Hyundai and Kia have been bucking the trend, reporting steady gains in market share, particularly in entry level segments, where their vehicles have proved appealing to cost conscious buyers. However, despite steady gains, primarily at the expense of U.S. and Japanese rivals, the South Korean duo is expected to see demand tapering off due to limited manufacturing supply. That said, both brands plan on achieving combined global sales of 7 million units next year, up from more than 6.5 million in 2011, which also marked a record total. “We expect to reach (the target) should we run our factories at full capacity,” stated Hyundai president Chung Jin-haeng in a news interview with Reuters, though he did add mention that actual sales target number has not yet been finalized. However some industry analysts, such as Suh Sung-moon at Korea Investment and Securities, believe that Hyundai and Kia’s own estimates of 2012 sales are conservative and both companies could easily surpass these totals in the first half of the year. “I expect Hyundai and Kia will be able to achieve sales of 7.2 million vehicles next year, with Hyundai’s China plant starting production and Kia introducing a third shift at its Slovakia plant,” Sung-moon stated. If achieved, and Toyota continues its spiral downward, Hyundai could potentially move into third place among global automakers, ousting the Japanese giant. How does an auto company know when it’s winning the hearts of drivers? When customers are so satisfied with the brand, they stick to it. It seems Kia Motors has succeeded in capturing loyalty from fickle and proud automobile drivers. According to Experian Automotive’s quarterly industry loyalty studies, Kia Motors topped the results as the highest individual brand loyalty ranking in USA, with a whopping 47.9 percent. This means that 47.9 percent of Kia automobile owners purchased another Kia model during the last quarter. “Kia has been gaining a strong and loyal customer based on improving vehicle styling and quality,” explained Jeffrey Anderson, a director of consulting and analytics for Experian Automotive. Experian Automotive uses the North American Vehicle Database to track vehicle ownership and purchase activity which provides insight into industry loyalty studies at the corporate, brand and model levels. So can you guess which three Kia models made it into the top 10 list of vehicles with the highest brand loyalty? The very first on the list is none other than the Kia Forte (known as Cerato in some countries) compact sedan, which received the highest loyalty ranking with 67.7 percent. GM’s very popular Chevy Cruze came in second with 64 percent. Other Kia gems, the Soul urban and the Forte Koup were not too far behind with 59.3 percent and 56.4 percent, respectively. If “modern” and “youthful” were two keywords in decoding Rio’s exterior design, “firm” and “edgy” should be used to interpret its interior. Kia designers wanted to accommodate drivers’ needs to look good and feel good during weekdays when they are going out to work, as well as during sporty weekends. The result is a driver-centered spacious interior that is strong, sporty and comfortable – all in one. The center air vent layout is simple and horizontal, which was inspired by classical looking cars, but the center fascia is solid-looking with three accentuated cylinders emphasizing state-of-the-art technology. Even the arrow inside the speedometer was refined to be more forward-looking. A huge door pocket and a bottle holder are in place to increase storage space and a multi-tray is adopted to the cup holder for maximum storage capability. Designed to handle your desires and needs any day of the week, Rio is a beauty inside and out. What’s the Meaning of Color? EVERYTHING It is said that 60 to 80% of our perception relies solely on eyesight while the other 20% is made up of other senses. Kia designers wanted undivided attention from drivers. How? They created new colors from scratch, mixing and matching the colors with countless textile, fabric and materials to capture drivers’ tactile satisfaction as well as giving pleasure to the eyes. The search for the right colors was not an easy fit. Not only did Kia designers consider the environmental factors and surroundings of the would-be drivers of Rio, but they also considered cultural color codes. They wanted the color to scream out luxury, but at the same time give a feather-soft sensation. The final three exterior colors for Rio, Wendy Brown, Signal Red and Electronic Blue, were Kia’s answers to their quest. Brown was targeted toward fashion-forward drivers who were stylish and chic. Other colors accentuated Rio’s individualism and dynamic sportiness. Interior colors were also a result of a very long search for the ‘it’ colors. A black that has a hint of deep blue that glistens in a soft light dubbed “Armani Black,” and a grayish beige that conveys urban luxury were developed for Rio’s interior design. The parts in the Rio where drivers would rest their hands were carefully thought out. The upper part of the crush pad was placed using IMG or In-mold Graining to give a more luxurious feel to the touch and NPC or Nano PU Cell was used to prevent damages from daily wear. As I mentioned, design should reflect a company’s passion. The passion of the company should not be lost in translation in the final product. Kia plans on making a splash this year at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show with its surf/skate-themed 2012 Rio hatchback. This gnarly Rio is the result of a partnership between Kia and Antenna Magazine, and is touted as being a “one-of-a-kind retro ride aimed at totally radical surfing enthusiasts.” To start off, Kia took a stock five-door 2012 Rio and went to town on it, giving it a “sunset-metallic golden-brown” coat and a custom front splitter made from wood (taking its inspiration from vintage surfboards). But it doesn’t stop there – this Rio comes outfitted with an extreme exhaust system, gold-finished aluminum wheels and a new set of side skirts. Inside, this Rio boasts shelves for storage, a retro record player and a retro-style video game system. Under the hood, you won’t find any surprises. It’s powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, just like any other standard Rio. Along with its surf-inspired Rio, Kia also has five other sport-themed concepts on display that it has developed with high-profile partners (including a Michelle Wie themed Soul). Ik heb een hardnekkig probleem. Sportage 2006 2.0 handgeschakeldDe gehele auto trilt/schudt (zijdelings dus van liks naar recht) zeer licht echter deze trilling neemt sterk toe tussen de 80 - 100 km/h en als de auto belast worden bijvoorbeeld door een aanhangwagen eveneens tussen de de 80 en 100 km/h. probleem wordt ook erger bij berg op rijden eveneens sterk toenemend tussen de 80-100kh/hHet trillen en schudden verdwijnt direct als ik het gas loslaat of de koppeling intrap. Het stuur trilt nagenoeg niet.Tot op heden banden (1 jaar oude michelin) 3 keer uitgeblanceert en banden van voor naar achter gelegd geen verbetering.Dealer heeft subframe bekeken en lichte slijtage aan 1 rubber geconstateerd van het subframe. Dealer twijflelt of dit het probleem veroorzaakt.Bandenboer adviseert de banden te laten balanceren op een hunter9700. Ik heb de volgende vragen:- Kan het trillen en schudden veroorzaakt worden door de banden als het stuur niet trilt?- wat kan nog meer een oorzaak zijn?- andere berijder (v) rijdt vaak met voet (niet ingedrukt) op de koppeling kan dit een oorzaak zijn ?Ben benieuwd of jullie iets weten? Kia has released pricing details for its 2012 Rio sedan, starting at $13,400 or $200 less than the 5-door version. That price is before the $750 destination and handling fee. The cheapest version comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, but if you aren’t willing or can’t drive stick the price jumps to $15,250 with a 6-speed automatic. The Rio comes in three trim levels: LX, EX and SX, all powered by the same 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) making 138 horsepower. Even at it’s most basic, you’re getting a well equipped car, though it won’t be impressive to driving enthusiasts, of course that isn’t the market Kia caters to. The Rio is all about value and practicality with a host of standard features and an estimated 30 mpg with city driving and 40 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy gets a boost thanks to and Idle Stop and Go generally reserved for hybrids and luxury cars. The engine shuts down when the car isn’t moving and starts when the driver’s foot comes off the brake pedal. Standard features include air conditioning, electric power steering, an MP3-capable audio system with USB ports, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with three months of free service, electronic stability control, ABS, hill control assist and vehicle stability management. If you opt for the premium SX package (starting at $18,250), Kia dolls the car up with LED accent lights on the front as well as LED tail lights. The interior gets also gets improvements with a leather wrapped steering wheel and metal pedals. Dual illuminated vanity mirrors and power-folding side-view mirrors and a backup camera are also meant to add a luxurious feeling. Als je zeker weet dat het uit de bak komt/ zal die uit elkaar moeten.. Vergis je niet een wiellager kan ook ratelen. Door op een snelheid waarbij het geluid zich openbaart de koppeling in te trappen, zal bij de bak het geluid veranderen en bij een wiellager, of homokineet even nagenoeg hetzelfde blijven. Is er een manier om de tussenbak van de sorento goed te testen.Ik heb m net op een zandondergrond gezet en omgeschakeld naar LOW. Dit werkt, dit is natuurlijk duidelijk merkbaar aan de snelheid.Ik heb echter het idee dat nog steeds alleen de achterwielen worden aangedreven en dat de voorwielen niet bijschakelen. Ook in Auto heb ik het idee dat de wagen zijn achterwielen ingraaft zonder de voorwielen bij te schakelen.Ik kan dit natuurlijk niet testen door de wagen in echt rul zand te zetten want dan kom ik niet meer weg als het inderdaad niet naar behoren werkt. Heeft iemand hier een list op?Even wachten op sneeuw / ijs en een 2e persoon naar de wielen laten kijken is mogelijk een optie, iemand andere ideeen?Kan ik (als de TOD idd stuk is) wel gewoon door blijven rijden in mijn 2wd Sorento of levert dit weer nieue gevaren/schades op? Gisteren op de terugweg uit Frankrijk nog 600 km te gaan naar huis. Ploef. sloeg weer af.Vorige keer heeft de garage monteur de zooi opgeruimt. Heb m opnieuw gestart, ben naar een supermarkt gereden en heb een plastic bak gekocht, kruiskop schroevendraaier en dopje 10 had ik gelukkig bij me.ongeveer een half plastic bekertje aan coating resten uit die witte unit gehaald die in de tank hangt. Daarna probleemloos naar huis gereden.Moet toch echt iets van een oplossing hebben. Geen zin om elke 5000 KM stil te staan.Iemand ervaringen met het op nieuw coaten van een tank?
