Dit heeft allemaal te maken met het kleppen probleem. Er is in de praktijk gebleken dat de kleppen moeten gesteld worden na 30.000 km ipv na 100.000 km. Dit ziet Kia als "onderhoud" en dus ten laste van de klant, kostprijs van stellen rond 600 Eur want nokkenassen moeten eruit.Na +/- 3 x stellen is koprevisie nodig, maar daartegen is bij de meeste klanten de garantie natuurlijk voorbij.Als je LPG wil rijden, is dit niet de meest geschikte motor.Klepsmering helft iets, maar niet voldoende. We frequently see car ads featuring sleek and powerful looking SUVs roaming the concrete jungle of the city or a devastatingly dry, sandy desert. Kia Sorento doesn’t just claim it can drive in the harshest road conditions – it proved it with its own Dakar Rally adventure last December. You would be surprised to know that the Sorento has a long history when it comes to testing in real off-road conditions. The Sorento has participated in the USA’s toughest off-road racing series, the six-round SCORE Desert Racing Series, which is considered one of the most difficult sports events in the world. However, many drivers have a special corner in their racing hearts for the Dakar Rally, an international event that began in 1979. It is a race track that challenges drivers to finish the route with a single production vehicle equipped with only road tires. Alexandre Correia and Paulo Calisto, editor and photographer of the automotive magazine Todo Terreno, wanted to test out the Kia Sorento with a special goal to finish the infamous Dakar Rally before the official race. After completing two weeks of driving, both drivers developed a new love for the Sorento, claiming it was very comfortable and that they experienced only one flat tire. Their expedition was used as a marketing story in Portugal, drawing interest from car enthusiasts and customers. Along with the debut of a new B-Spec budget race car, Kia is looking to showcase its updated 2012 Soul at the 2011 SEMA Show. In total, the Korean automaker will display six sports-themed vehicles. The first of the group has already been teased (above) and is a colorful creation inspired by pro golfer Michelle Wie – whom Kia has used before in its ads. In addition, Kia has announced a second of the six cars will be themed around NBA star Blake Griffin. As for what that car will look like, and the remaining four vehicles, we’ll have to wait for SEMA to find out. And the cheapest car for sale in America is… the Nissan Versa Sedan. Priced at $10,990 it’s $1,300 less than the old Rio and roughly $1,500 less than the stripped down 2012 Hyundai Accent. But make no mistake, this model isn’t glamorous. Rather than style and fancy options, the Versa instead offers a spacious cabin and solid fuel economy with a 109-hp 1.6-liter engine. With a solid 30/38-mpg that’s only for the CVT models which start at $12,760. The stripped-down 5-speed manual achieves 27/36-mpg. Thankfully the Versa hatchback isn’t as content-poor as the previous generation car and base models do come equipped with an AM/FM radio with a CD player and an auxiliary plug. Plus, you even get air conditioning. Or if you’re feeling rich, there’s the Versa hatchback. It may have the same name, but riding on an entirely different platform and with a different 122-hp 1.8L engine costs significantly more. How do you define a design? Is it a shape? A color? Or a form? Team Kia believes design is more than just visible elements. It is a subtle language which is spoken through a car, which you perceive not only with your eyes, but also with your other senses. It is a combination of everything you feel, touch, see and hear. The language of design should also contain a hint of the company’s philosophy and beliefs, but more importantly, it’s the passion that stands out from competitors. All of this was required when numerous engineers, project managers and designers from centers in Europe, North America and Korea put their heads together to create the all-new Kia Rio, a car that continues to fascinate its producers as it makes bold ventures into the automobile world. Defining New Luxury Can compact cars be luxurious? It was a simple question, but a daunting task for Kia designers who wanted to change the perception that compact cars meant only “small” and “practical.” New challenges required a new way of thinking. The developers involved with Rio were members who participated in the development of medium to large sized sedans or luxury models to ensure that they wouldn’t be entrapped by their concept of what a ‘compact car’ should be like. The result was a new way of looking at what compact cars should offer, such as wide space to provide comfort to drivers and passengers. There are now features and functions that were unavailable to drivers before in sub-compact car segment, such as LED headlight lamps, a cooling internal compartment box, a seven-inch navigation system, a rear-view camera and much more. All of these aspects make the Rio a new luxurious, affordable vehicle that transcends its deceptively small size. Simply a Beauty, Inside and Out Before setting out to design the Rio, designers did their research. Months of market research and passenger preference tests were done in Europe and North America, targeted toward young drivers in their 20s and 30s. The results showed that this segment of drivers is attracted to economy, fuel efficiency, dynamic style and sporty design. So it is no surprise that designers came up with two important words that were essential in attaining their goals: “modern” and “youthful.” Basic straight lines were used to emphasize a clean and modern look. Curves and volumes were used to give a youthful and dynamic look to the car. At the front, the intake grille and fog lamp graphics were expanded to establish a more confident and sporty image of the car while maintaining the design identity of Kia’s tiger nose grille. The eyes of the car, or the head lamps, are literally eye-catching. Both projection low beam and LED daytime running lamps are incorporated into the head lamps, capturing high-tech images and a forward-looking stance. The Rio’s side profile is also the result of considerable deliberation among designers. Designers really wanted Rio to exude sportiness, so they added a dynamic window graphic with a cab-forward style and a black glass slant that continues from the front hood of the car. Kia is hoping to reach the 500,000 unit milestone and add 40 new dealers by 2012, as the Korean automaker enjoys increasing success in the U.S. market. Kia Vice Chairman Hank Lee said that Kia is on pace to sell 470,000 vehicles in 2011, up from 356,258 in 2010. Lee also said that in addition to adding new dealers, stores that failed to meet Kia’s expectations would be terminated. Lee also stated that Kia is focusing on 20 key markets in the United States, but declined to elaborate on what they were. It’s been years since George Bush was in office, but a trade bill from his presidency finally made it past the House and Senate. The deal includes Columbia, Panama and South Korea to open trade between those countries and the U.S. with changes aimed to aid U.S. auto manufacturers. “I’ve fought to make sure that these trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama deliver the best possible deal for our country, and I’ve insisted that we do more to help American workers who have been affected by global competition,” said President Obama, when asked about the deal. Despite support from President Obama and many Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid disagreed. “I don’t favor these bills, but the majority of this Senate does, so it was important that we move forward,” he said. Public Citizen, a watchdog group, also opposed the deal saying that it would make importing easier for foreign manufacturers but that the same balance wouldn’t be maintained for domestic companies. While the deal is meant to open business traffic for both countries, the fact remains that South Korea is traditionally a very closed market, meaning U.S. manufacturers are likely to see less of an increase in exports out of the deal. Kia will be joining in on the B-Spec racing series fun by offering race-prepped versions of the new 2012 Rio 5-door, joining the likes of the Mazda2 and Honda Fit. The B-Spec racing series is designed for low-budget racing enthusiasts featuring compact hatchbacks with little to no engine modifications. Kia will be working with Kinetic Motorsports to get Rio 5-Doors ready to race and is planning to announce more details at the upcoming 2011 SEMA Show. Based on other B-Spec racing vehicles, we can safely assume that the race-prepped Rio will feature a roll cage, racing seats, harnesses, suspension modifications and a new wheel and tire package. B-Spec series racers are designed to compete in SCCA, NASA, Grand-Am and World Challenge race series. With basically stock engines in all of the vehicles, the race-ready Rio will sport the factory 1.6L that pumps out 138-hp and 123 lb-ft of torque, significantly more than either the Honda or Mazda. It’s no secret that the golden rule of saving money with your car is to increase fuel efficiency. Follow these tips on car maintenance and you will be able to save your budget. Lighten Your Car (Force = Mass * Acceleration) It’s all made clear in one simple physics equation: force = mass * acceleration. One of the most important things when it comes to fuel efficiency is the weight of a car. In the manufacturing process, carmakers put a lot of efforts on reducing weight of car to achieve better fuel efficiency. See if there are any unnecessary objects inside your car that need to be taken out. Know Your Tires Another simple physics rule is applicable here. The higher the resistance, the lower the speed of the object. If your tires’ air pressure is too low, it creates high rotational resistance, which increases the engine’s RPM for rolling the tires. Increased RPM requires more fuel consumption. Thus, it’s important to regularly check your tires’ air pressure and make sure they have proper air pressure. To make your job easier, we suggest you to use eco tires. Eco tires are lighter than conventional tires and have lower rotational resistance. As their name implies, they are also environmentally friendly Besides the tire air pressure, it is also important to keep an eye on your tire condition. If you drive on cement-paved highways often, it is very likely that your tires will wear out quickly. You should take a look at your tires from time-to-time and check whether your car is ready for new ones. As a reference, you should look at the tire wear bar, which is made up of small raised blocks between the tire treads. If the surface of the tires is close to touching this tire wear bar, it means your tires are worn out. It is recommended that you change your tires in every three years or 20,000km~30,000km (Editor’s note: The replacement timing might differ depending on your driving style and road condition). Clean and change your air filter regularly An air filter does exactly what it sounds like – it filters the air flowing in to the engine. If the filter is covered with dust, the amount of air flowing into the engine decreases and it makes your engine’s fuel efficiency lower. Clean your air filter regularly and replace it once a year. (Editor’s note: The official period of parts replacement might be different depending on your country. Please refer to your owner’s manual or contact close local Kia dealership.) Clean your fuel injector Regardless of car types, gasoline or diesel, most automobiles nowadays have a fuel injector. As fuel goes through the injector, carbon gradually gets stuck at the tip, which reduces fuel efficiency. How much it worsens the efficiency depends on the quality of the fuel, so regular check-up is necessary. For gasoline vehicles, it is good to clean the fuel injector every three years or in every 60,000 km. Use eco mode, wisely Eco mode in your car follows an Electric Control Unit program, which controls the engine and other devices. If you turn on the eco mode, the acceleration speed of your car may decrease. However, it is a good way to increase fuel efficiency if you use it wisely. If you often drive on a very crowded road, it can be very efficient to turn on the eco mode to save your money. As you probably have noticed form the aforementioned tips, maintaining higher fuel efficiency is the key in saving your money. Kia‘s heart-stoppingly cool GT concept was was powered by a 3.3L turbo V6 packing 400 horsepower – but the production version might not get such an exotic powertrain. Speaking with Auto Express, Kia styling boss Peter Schreyer said that “I think done in the right way, with a smaller engine or hybrid technology, it would work,” he said. “It would still be fast, but return good fuel economy, too.” Screyer said that the GT is aiming for the German coupe set, which we can assume as being the BMW 3-Series and Audi A5. The annual North American Car and Truck of the Year awards has just released its short list for 2012, selecting 17 cars and seven trucks that will compete for the prestigious prize. In the running for the 2012 North American Car of the Year are three from Hyundai (the Accent, Elantra and Veloster), two from Audi (A6 and A7), two from Volkswagen (Passat and Beetle) and two from Toyota (Camry and Prius v). Others on the list include two GM models, the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic, while two Chrysler group nominees include the Chrysler 300 and Fiat 500. Rounding out the list is the Ford Focus, Kia Rio, Scion iQ and Subaru Impreza. Notably absent from the list is the all-new Honda Civic. The 2012 North American Truck of the Year short list includes just one vehicle from seven different automakers: the BMW X3, Honda CR-V, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes M-Class, MINI Countryman, Nissan Quest and Saab 9-4X. The three finalists in each category will be announced later this year with the winners being announced at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Percentage biodiesel bedraagt dan maximaal 7%.In principe mag het dus niet uitmaken waar je tankt: Nederland, Duitsland, Frankrijk.Wel opletten dat je geen diesel tankt met hogere percentages bio erin. Kia will unveil its first electric vehicle by the start of 2012, but did not say whether the vehicle would be sold in the United States. The EV will reportedly be based on the Hyundai i10, a vehicle considered much too small for North American tastes. A production run of just 2,000 units is expected in 2012. A second electric vehicle is expected to follow in 2014 for Kia, with Hyundai launching a mass market EV in 2015. Hyundai currently has a small fleet of i10-based EVs testing in South Korea. Vandaag nog gesproken met een Duitse monteur van stadsbussen. Die rijden daar al sinds geruime tijd op biodiesel. Hij zegt niks dan ellende daardoor.De motoren kunnen er goed tegen maar de keerringen, rubbers en slangen vaak niet. Hij heeft al een paar keer keerringen moeten vervangen door de biodiesel. Hij krijgt dan steeds verbeterde keerringen die er beter tegen moeten kunnen, maar ook die gaan telkens weer kapot. Biodiesel is behoorlijk agressief.Dus even ten goede van Kia. De coating van de tank is niet de beste, maar tegen biodiesel is ie helemaal niet opgewassen. Lees het hele artikel
