The new Kia Sorento made its global debut at the Paris Motor Show, and our cameras were rolling so you could get a better look at this family friendly crossover. The biggest change in this Sorento is how much more premium it looks. Long wrap-around headlights, prominent fog lamps and a larger more upright grille highlight the new look, while a swept back look helps the car look sportier and aggressive. 2014 Paris Motor Show Coverage Inside you’ll see more leather and soft-touch materials, and a redesigned center stack. Interior space is enhanced, as passengers now get more headroom and legroom, while cargo space grows to 21.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. Five- or seven-passenger versions of the Sorento are available, with the second row using a 40/20/40 split. Further refinement is found by way of a newly tuned suspension setup, a longer wheelbase and an updated bodyshell which is 14 percent stiffer. Kia has revealed its all-new Sorento, touting a quieter ride and a more luxurious feel, one day before the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The Korean brand calls the design inspiration for the new Sorento “Streetwolf,” even though the styling changes are mostly evolutionary. Long wrap-around headlights, more prominent fog lamps and a larger more upright tiger nose grille have all been added to the SUV. From profile, a lower roofline, higher beltline and a more swept-back appearance help the Kia take on a more muscular look also enhanced by the addition of 3-inches in length, bringing the total to 188 inches. Around back, the haunches have also been made larger. Moving inside, Kia is looking to bring the Sorento into a more premium space by wrapping the innards in leather and soft-touch materials. A flowing horizontal design has been implemented to help with the luxury feel, while the latest version of Kia’s infotainment setup is present. Buyers will be able to get either an all-black interior, a two-tone scheme with black and beige or a brown and light gray color scheme. 2014 Paris Motor Show Coverage Passengers now get more headroom and legroom, while the cargo area grows to 21.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. Five- or seven-passenger versions of the Sorento are available, with the second row using a 40/20/40 split. A smoother ride is promised by Kia thanks to new suspension tuning, a longer wheelbase and an updated bodyshell which is 14 percent stiffer. Interior noise is also said to be cut by 3 to 6 percent courtesy of new sound deadening in the dashboard and around the transmission tunnel. All of these chassis updates also make the Sorento safer in a crash according to Kia, though safety technology is not in short supply. The Sorento can be fit with adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a speed limit informer. In Europe, the Sorento will have two diesel options and single gas engine, a 2.4-liter unit. U.S. specifications have not been announced. Get the Flash Player to see this player. A fresh new look inside and out for the Kia Rio has been revealed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The brand’s tiger-nose grille is still present, though it has been tweaked along with the front bumper for an updated appearance completed by new foglights. Three new alloy wheel designs can now be had on the car as well in either 15-, 16- or 17-inch sizes. To round out the exterior makeover, two new paint colors, Urban Blue and Digital Yellow, are now available on the Rio. Moving inside, new chrome accents have been fitted around the four dashboard air vents while the entire center stack has been redesigned around a new 7.0-inch display screen. That screen will power a new version of Kia’s infotainment system as well when it arrives in the US. 2014 Paris Motor Show Coverage Four small engines will be available with the European Rio ranging from about 75 hp up to 150. Powertrain options and upgrades have not been detailed for North America yet. The new Rio will hit European showrooms in early 2015. U.S. specifications and availability have yet to be announced. Kia is set to debut an Optima concept featuring a diesel hybrid powertrain at this year’s Paris Motor Show. Earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, the Korean automaker revealed a new diesel hybrid powertrain and now its found a home in an Optima concept called the T-Hybrid. Boasting a 1.7-liter turbocharged diesel engine paired to an electric motor and a 48-volt lead-carbon battery, the Optima T-Hybrid is capable of driving in an all-electric mode at low speeds and when cruising while deceleration helps recharge the battery pack. No specific performance or fuel economy figures have been announced as the powertrain is still under development with Kia also saying that the system allows the use of an electric supercharger in addition to the turbocharger on the diesel engine. SEE ALSO: 2014 Paris Motor Show Preview Expect more details to be revealed when the Kia Optima T-Hybrid makes its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show, where AutoGuide.com will be reporting live from the show floor. “In future, our mild hybrid powertrain could offer Kia customers greater performance and lower running costs, without sacrificing the qualities they expect of a Kia car – enjoyable handling, a comfortable ride and high quality. Demonstrated for the first time in the Optima T-Hybrid, the technology will lower the total cost of ownership of our cars, yet still keep them affordable as an outright purchase for customers,” commented Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer, Kia Motors Europe. Slow and steady wins the race? Not for the Kia Racing team! After just a few years of racing, Kia Motors America has been named the winner of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge (PWC), one of the biggest races in the automotive world. In 2010, Kia first teamed up with Kinetic Motorsports, a world-class racing organization based in Georgia, to start up what is now the Kia Racing team. Kia is the first Korean brand to earn the coveted title of PWC Champion. The Kia Racing team was up against heavy hitters in the world of motor sports, competing against teams from Ford, Chevrolet, Porsche, Aston Martin and Nissan. But the Kia Optima (Optima SX Turbo) held its own this year, claiming the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge Grand Touring Sport (GTS) and Touring Car A (TC-A) Manufacturer Championships at the series’ season finale two weeks ago at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. And after capturing second place during last year’s Pirelli World Challenge, Kia Racing drivers, Mark Wilkins and Nic Jonsson came out on top of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge! Kia is known for our love of sports, and this year alone we’ve sponsored the World Cup, the World Extreme Games, and most recently the Kia Korea Open, which is part of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour. The 9-day international tournament, lasting from September 13-21, brought together 200 female tennis players from 33 countries. Big-name tennis stars like Maria Kirilenko of Russia and Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland competed on the court for the title of Kia Korea Open champion. Onze Kia Rio van 2014 heeft schakelproblemen. Uitvoering is een normale /standaard versie dus 1,2 motorinhoudMet name als hij kouder is tijdens schakelen in de lage versnellingen, ontstaat een gevoel dat ik de koppeling niet voldoende intrap. Je voelt en hoort een ; TOK geluid. Als de wagen warm is verdwijnt het hoorbare geluid. WEL blijft merkbaar dat de versnelling bij het schakelen. ( vooral achteruit en 1 naar 2 en 2 naar 3.) Dacht in eerste instantie dat de koppeling niet vrijkwam. Maar dat kan niet bij dit soort uitvoeringen. Wel heb ik een krik onder het rechter voorwiel geplaatst zodat voorwiel vrijloopt. Hieruit bleek dat er geen koppelingsprobleem was omdat wiel bij ingetrapte koppeling gewoon stilstaat. Opmerkelijk was wel dat met INGETRAPTE koppeling het wiel tijdens het (droog) schakelen 5 cm terug liep terwijl de koppeling gewoon ingetrapt bleef. .( gelijk weer met dat TOK geluid) Dit gebeurde bij alle versnellingen. Vervolgens 3 andere automerken hetzelfde geintje uitgehaald. Wat bleek, wielen bleven netjes stil en draaiden absoluut niet. In KIA garage geweest en men gaf aan dat er absoluut niets mis mee was en dat dit een typisch KIA RIO karaktertrekje was welke minder was bij het warm worden. Mijn vraag, hoe kom ik van dat hakerige schakelen af. De Kia garage heeft geen oplossing. ( maar houdt zich wel open voor suggesties.....???????.) Lees het hele artikel
