Who said Halloween costumes are only for people (and cute pets)? Today on Kia BUZZ, we’re going to highlight some dressed up Kia Souls that have been customized and stylized to give some added flair to their character. Let’s take a look. Let’s start with pro-golfer Michelle Wie’s customized Soul, which has her own personal artwork painted on the front & rear doors. Here’s a red hot Soul courtesy of the Kia’s Soul Hamsters, which features black exterior graphics, a rear spoiler, black fender vents, rear bumper appliqué and 18 inch alloy wheels. This white tiger edition Soul has a bright white exterior with gray graphics, color-keyed bumpers, a sporty rear spoiler, 18 inch black alloy wheels, black fender exits, a rear bumper appliqué and alloy fuel door. This chic polka dotted convertible Soul is the work of Korean fashion designer Nora Noh. Swedish fashion designer Lars Wallin shows off his Kia Soul, which features platinum gold chrome-detailed wheels, side mirrors and windshield wipers. Atlanta-based graffiti artist “Hense” worked on this wicked looking Soul, themed with characters from Adult Swim’s ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’. …And here’s what’s to come very soon. Can you guess which DC Comics ‘Justice League’ member this Soul is dressed up as? We’ll have more shots of this soon! These are just a few of our favorite dressed-up Kia Souls from the past, and its 2-box styling is a perfect canvas for creating an endless array of custom paint jobs and modification. Kia has just unveiled five custom vehicles which take their inspiration from the DC Comics classic, the Justice League, at the 2012 SEMA Show. The five vehicles on display at Kia are the Optima, Rio, Soul, Forte Koup, and Forte hatch. Each one takes on a different persona, either Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, The Green Lantern, or Cyborg. This collaboration between Kia and DC Comics was put together to raise awareness for the “We Can be Heroes” charity, that helps fight hunger in Africa. Each car character/combination was chosen based on the main attributes of whatever the vehicle is. First is the Flash themed Forte Koup, which is meant to be fast, like the Flash. Built by West Coast Customs, the Flash Forte Koup receives a red, orange and yellow paint job, 20-inch wheels, a hood-painted Flash logo, and two big subwoofers in the trunk. Next is the Aquaman Rio, which was also built by West Coast Customs. It gets a green and gold paint job complete with fake scales, and Aquaman’s metal belt. The interior gets green leather and suede, accented by yellow and gold. As a finishing touch, an actual comic strip was etched into the rear window. The Green Lantern Soul was built by Super Street magazine, and gets a green and black paint job and green mirror-chrome tint on the windows. The car was lowered and the wheel wells were widened to give a more aggressive stance, and the back doors were welded shut to further streamline the car. Cyborg takes shape in the form of the Forte five door, outfitted with a large hood scoop, and wide and low body kit. The paint job is all silver to represent Cyborg’s armor, and the interior is finished in red and silver trim. The Batman themed Optima was already unveiled last week New York City to tease all the vehicles. Kia Motors releases official photos of the facelifted Cadenza sedan (2013 Model Year), the sibling model to the Hyundai Azera! 2013 Kia Cadenza images: Lees het hele artikel

Kia has just unveiled official photos of the updated Cadenza, the sister car to the Hyundai Azera, and the little brother to the Kia Quoris. The Cadenza takes on styling from the rest of the Kia lineup, including the front grille, headlights and front fascia. The rear end takes some style cues from the Optima, while the wheels are also straight from the Quoris. Unlike the Quoris, which shares its platform with the rear-drive Hyundai Genesis and Equus, the Cadenza will be a front wheel drive model. The 2012 Hyundai Azera runs exclusively with a 293 hp 3.3-liter V6, the most likely candidate to power the Cadenza. Neither the Quoris or Cadenza have been confirmed for American sale yet, with Kia saying, “we are constantly studying the marketplace to identify new opportunities for growth, and while the idea of a premium offering above the Optima in our lineup is intriguing, no decision has been made regarding such a vehicle at this time.” Though the company also mentioned that the Optima has enjoyed “higher mid- and upper-trim level mix rates than many established competitors,” reinforcing the need for a luxury vehicle in North America. Kia’s popular luxury sedan Cadenza will receive a significant upgrade and a new look for 2013. Based closely on Peter Schreyer’s 2009 model styling, the new-look Cadenza features fresh elements that incorporate Kia’s evolving design DNA. Echoing some of the visual innovations of Kia Quoris, the upgraded Cadenza will have a more distinctive appearance with new hood, trunk lid, light clusters (front and rear) and new bumpers, plus side air vents in the front wings and a new interpretation of the Kia’s ‘tiger nose’ grille. The new look Cadenza will also feature a host of new comfort, convenience and safety technologies when it goes on sale in different regions of the world during the first half of 2013. There’s a lot going on at Hyundai-Kia these days, especially in powertrain engineering. Never wanting to be behind the competition, the collaborative South Korean automakers have confirmed that they’re developing a new turbocharged V6. Displacing 3.0-liters, the engine is expected to feature direct fuel injection as well as other efficiency and power-enhancing add-ons. The end result is expected to be 350 hp and around 33 miles per gallon when bolted under the hood of the next-generation Hyundai Genesis. Which Genesis model is unclear at this point since the company offers both a coupe and a sedan, but the sporty two-door seems like the more logical application for this new force-fed six. The top Genesis Coupe on the market right now features a 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 348 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough grunt to propel the car from a standstill to 60 miles an hour in less than 5.5 seconds. Assuming the new engine behaves like other turbocharged powerplants – delivering bucket loads of off-idle torque – the car should accelerate appreciably quicker than today’s model. Kia is ramping up for a busy year in 2013 with a slew of new models including the brand’s first ever performance car. Speaking with AutoGuide a company representative, who prefers to remain anonymous, let slip that a sports car of sorts will debut next year. Involved in a discussion about the affordable performance category, ranging from cars like the Scion FR-S and Hyundai Genesis Coupe to the Ford Focus ST, our source commented that “we’ll have one of those next year.” Most likely is a twin to the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, using similar powertrains and the same rear-drive chassis. Hyundai is already expected to debut another rear-drive model in 2013 with the Quoris, again using the Genesis/Equus chassis and sized between the two. Rumors also point to Hyundai bringing its new Hyundai Azera sister car, the Cadenza to America, rounding out a lineup of premium and performance models similar to what Hyundai now has. The Korean automaker could, however, head in a completely different direction with its new performance car, instead revealing something similar to a hot-hatch, like the Trackster Concept revealed last year. Hyundai Motor Group, the parent company for Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp., has said that both Korean automakers will be bolstering their engine lineups with more turbocharged and diesel offerings in the near future. To go along with the new powerplants, the Korean automakers are also working on new transmission technologies to help maintain their positive momentum. The current Hyundai Genesis and Equus are both offered with an eight-speed transmission, while six-speed transmissions have become standard through the Kia lineup and Hyundai’s more popular vehicles. The announcement came at the 2012 Hyundai-Kia International Powertrain Conference, an annual event that is hosted near the company’s R&D Center in South Korea. Yesterday we shared what Chief Designer Officer Peter Schreyer and Gregory Guillaume, Kia’s Chief Designer-Europe had to say behind their design strategy of the new Carens from the Paris Motor Show 2012. Today we’ll share what they had to comment on regarding the pro_cee’d design – Let’s take a look. Vision of the new pro_cee’d design The new pro_cee’d is Kia’s most emotionally-charged car to date, a powerful looking hatch that drips performance and dynamism from every crease and curve. You know from just a single glance that this is a car that you want to drive down your favorite road. Peter Schreyer says the all-new pro_cee’d is a true clean-sheet design.With its distinct form-language and dynamic proportions, muscular stance and athletic lines, this ‘coupe’ follows a very different visual path to the cee’d. It’s a completely different car on every level. According to Gregory Guillaume, they wanted to build on the elevated expectation with this new pro_cee’d model and continue to surprise and delight Kia drivers. The new five-door cee’d takes on the emotional level of the outgoing pro_cee’d, so the role of the new pro_cee’d is to push forward, forge ahead. When design work on the pro_cee’d started 24 months ago, both Schreyer and Guillaume drew inspiration from the muscular and honed bodies of world-class athletes. “We pictured a world-class sprinter crouched in the starting blocks,” says Schreyer, “and our eyes were drawn to their bulging shoulder muscles, full of power and pace, ready to be unleashed. That’s what we wanted to capture – all that performance potential, just waiting to be unleashed.”“We wanted to give the pro_cee’d a really strong and dominant face, like that of an unbeaten champion boxer,” adds Guillaume. Creating the look To create this hunkered-down stance, Kia’s design team injected substantial amounts of visual muscle into the rear haunches, dramatically flaring the rear wings, and introducing a more acute angle to the rear windscreen and an integrated roof spoiler. The roofline drops down to meet the shoulders in a taut line that effectively ties down the edge of the pro_cee’d’s wedge-shaped profile. The lowered roofline – the pro_cee’d sits a full 40 mm lower than the five-door cee’d – and raised shoulder line has resulted in a significantly tighter glasshouse, and the resulting wedge-like profile is further enhanced by the bold lateral crease that runs its way across the car’s flanks. Those bold wheel arches are filled with eye-catching 17-inch multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, wrapped in sticky, low-profile tires. A split twin-exhaust layout with large diameter outlet pipes lend further visual weight to the pro_cee’d’s performance potential. Far more aggressive front bumper with a deep and square chin. Has leaner and more assertive version of Kia’s ‘tiger’ grille than that found on the cee’d. Framed in a dark silver metallic finish, it is linked to the headlamps to further emphasize the muscular width of the pro_cee’d. Despite its overt athleticism the pro_cee’d shares its wheelbase and tracks with its five-door relative, which means versatility is uncompromised – both luggage capacity and rear space are virtually identical to those of the five-door cee’d. “There’s a muscular tension here,” says Schreyer as he walks around the pro_cee’d. “It’s a car that’s ready to pounce forward.
