There isn’t much about Kia’s latest concept car that doesn’t suggest that the company is about to get serious about offering a sports car. Kia doesn’t currently offer a sports car, but the concept on display seems like an obvious sign that the South Korean brand is planning on changing that soon. The concept car uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to send 315 hp to the rear wheels through a close-ratio six-speed manual and weighs 2,874 lbs, which is almost 490 lighter than the 2.0T Hyundai Genesis Coupe. It may share an engine with the Hyundai sports coupe, but the similarities stop there. At just under 170 inches long, it’s roughly a foot shorter than the Hyu…

Kia’s sports coupe concept will be fully revealed later today during the South Korean brand’s press conference, but an image of the GT4 Stinger concept has already leaked. There are 20-inch center-locking wheels mounted outside those brakes with carbon fiber inserts as well. Notable design elements include the vertical LED headlights, flared fr…

At the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Kia previewed a pair of concepts that showcase the brand’s next-generation telematics and infotainment systems. The user-centered driver Concept (UCD – pictured above) has one goal in mind: keeping the driver’s eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. With that in mind, the Korean automaker designed an 18-inch head-up display that gives drivers an augmented-reality snapshot of information such as speed, navigation and traffic. In addition, a 12.3-inch TFT LCD cluster gives a 3D view of vital vehicle info while taking advantage of eye-tracking technology to maintain a clear view from various angles. The in-vehicle infotain…

Nothing screams “commitment” or “responsibility” louder than a minivan, well, maybe a saggy pair of elastic-waist mom jeans but who’s counting? Love ‘em or loathe ‘em these versatile vehicles are designed to excel at hauling, whether it’s taking a passel of kiddies to soccer practice after school or hauling a load of building material home from the lumber yard. Stylish and sporty they are NOT, but modern minivans are as practical and honest as the week is long. They’re also pretty thrifty, maximizing cargo capacity while minimizing fuel consumption. And that’s a subject on the top of every consumer’s mind these days: efficiency. But what kind of economy do these versat…

People require vehicle-buying advice and we provide guidance (it’s in our name after all). Give and receive, that’s how it works; it’s just like Christmas except Old Saint AutoGuide shimmies down the chimney 52 times per year not just once in late December. Reaching out for a helping hand, Melissa sent us an e-mail this week asking for some car-buying advice. She’s a mother of three children and is in the family way again, but with a catch. A fourth child just isn’t enough; she’s decided (or rather her ovaries decided) to hav…

Nappa leather upholstery, a V8 powering the back half and reclining rear seats; none of those would make sense in a Kia-branded products a few years ago but things are changing quickly. Hyundai led the way with its Genesis and Equus sedans, and now Kia is following suit by bringing the K900 to North America. Called the K9 in other parts of the world where it is already sold, the car comes standard with 3.8-liter V6 or an optional 5.0-liter “Tau” V8. Sound familiar? It should because this is a derivative product that shares much of its DNA with the Hyundai Genesis and Equus. The V6 makes 311 hp while the V8 pumps out 420. Both engines are matched to an eight-speed aut…
